Fun fact: I threw the word ‘fallen’ into Google translate and tried a few languages to see if anything sounded nice. I landed on the Spanish word ‘caído’.

Are we all aware of what Dooku means in Portugese?

Nothing important

wrong.

dooku in portuguese is actually translated as “dookan”, because if it was kept “dooku”, it’d be pronounced doo-ku, which in portugueses sounds a lot like do-cu, which is “from the ass”.

I legitimately do not see the difference between the second two. Based on the ones after it, I assume it’s a difference in red balance.

The reds are toned down, look at the light behind Ewan’s head.

The contrast looks higher.

Random thoughts:

Would the ‘Asteroid Field’ from the ESB soundtrack work during Obi-Wan vs Jango in the asteroid field? Or does that song only work with the falcon?

Would Tie Fighter Attack work anywhere, either?

JEDIT:

I remember an older version of the “New Canon Cut” of Ep 3 having ‘Luke and Leia’ playing over the birth of the twins and it sounded pretty rad.

It might fit.

I played ‘Asteroid Field’ while watching the scene and it looks like it would work well with the right placement. But yeah, others may feel that it should only be used for Han/The Falcon, and using the same music for both asteroid scenes might be a little too on those nose.

If I had to nitpick, the Asteroid Field feels a little more triumphant compared to how close to death Obi-Wan gets to in that scene. Music actually starts playing when Jango launches the homing missiles, but I’m guessing they chose not to include music for most of the scene to give the sound design a spotlight. You also could try throwing Boba Fett’s motif from Empire in the first half of the scene. It would be character appropriate, foreboding, and it wouldn’t totally cover up the sound design of the seismic charges and the other sounds.

Just depends what tone you’re going for in that scene I guess.

Here’s something I quickly threw together, just to see how it feels:

pass: asteroid

I don’t know if there should be music during the actual seismic booms, but maybe before and right after might work. I used Boba’s motif from Empire as suggested.

I think that scene works pretty well without music.

Would Tie Fighter Attack work anywhere, either?

I have a spot for it in my AOTC edit.

Interesting.

How about, in the climax of AotC, Anakin doesn’t act like a child and rush forward into combat, getting his ass handed to him, and causing the fight to be lost?

And no Yoda - it’s odd, isn’t it, that he takes a clone ship to the bunker and arrives absent clone support?
Also, I tried to limit movie swordsmanship, ie fewer pirouettes and no “duel wielding”.

In short, no shots of Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme in the same gunship, cut, cropped, and painted out Anakin for the first half of the fight, and did the same for Yoda’s appearance, simply cut the center channel to remove Yoda’s grunting.

I was actually doing that for my project! Good stuff!

JEDIT: I feel like the dialogue needs more room to breath? And I think you can cut “Back down” “I don’t think so”. There’s too much obvious ‘teleporting’ around the room.

JEDIT II: I also feel like the audience would be thinking ‘how did they get there?’

Hey Snooker, how is DAJ going so far?

What scene are you on now?, just curious 😃

The whole edit is nonlinear, but I’m about to start on the Anakin/Padme romance.

Getting the dialogue right/figuring out exactly how I want this whole thing to go is really draining. The Dex Diner scene is really annoying to try to nail.

I will let you know that I am determined to finish this project, and I won’t let it die.

JEDIT: Next time, you should ask any DAJ-related questions on its thread.

The music distracts way too much from the seismic booms. That bit at the end was good, though. Don’t think it’s necessary by any stretch though. The rest of the scene silent anyways.

Brilliant! Saving that to my drive. The only problem is Obi-Wan’s body on the ground disappearing when Anakin arrives.

The whole concept of editing in order is hilarious to me. Maybe I’m just weird.
