I watched my 1985 Rocky laserdisc (Japanese) recently and noticed during the final scene that some of the audio was different from the version on blu ray and dvd.

After the final bell in the Rocky\Apollo fight, a piano piece plays briefly before the main music kicks in. IMDB mentions this was removed for the surround sound versions for DVD.

The next thing I cant find any reference to online. On the Laserdisc after the final bell rings, Apollo says "Aint gonna be no rematch" just once and Rocky replies "Dont want one" twice, the second time sounding quite emotional and like he REALLY doesnt want one.

Does anyone know when they changed that to the version that is on every DVD\Blu Ray\youtube upload that I can find of the scene. Apollo saying “Aint gonna be no rematch" twice, followed by a single relatively nonchalant "Dont want one” from Rocky?

The original mono on the BD has the piano playing while they don’t want no rematch, but yeah it has Apollo twice and Rocky once, so I’d be curious to hear that LD. Could you record that bit of dialogue and post it online?

Army of Darkness: The Medieval Deadit | The Terminator - Color Regrade | The Wrong Trousers - Audio Preservation
SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.

The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
-Erased car in field: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120737/goofs?item=gf1407118

Probably not a lot of interest, but I’ve come across a bootleg DVD that has the theatrical screener as its source.

Second pic is of the car in motion. Pretty hard to see from a screencap due to the resolution, but you can see it moving in the actual film.
Here’s the scene in question in motion for those curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOg5x1uMMe4

As a bonus the menu is typical early 2000s bootleg goodness:

I’ll add this if it can be confirmed.

EDIT: On second thought, I won’t add this. I don’t want to go down the audio changes rabbit hole or this thread will never end.

Yeah there should be just a whole separate thread for audio changes but yeah it would be very infinite. I actually think audio gets changed in video releases much more than video does!

Yes that could be nice, could be useful as an alternate color reference. Not just for me, having it on the spleen would be nice.

No worries I’ll rip it tonight and PM you tomorrow

Has anyone picked up the Jurassic Park UHD Blu Ray? And if you have, can you confirm if it retains the alterations from the 3D release?

I can confirm that the stage light and potted plant that are visible during the T-Rex attack are present on the UHD. These were digitally removed in the 3D release.

That’s the only alteration that I’m aware of (apart from some horrendous clone-stamping of grass and bushes). If there are any other changes you’d like me to check, just let me know.

Here’s a weird alteration I was aware of for a long time. The title screen for Disney’s Aladdin has, for some reason, been replaced by the name of an episode of the TV-series on Swedish iTunes.

And just for clarification, the episode name in English is “Air Feathered Friends”.

Also there’s been a lot of complaints about this. Look at Danny’s face. This is on the 40th Anniversary release.

!

Here it was previously.

!

So yeah apparently a coloring error on the new release.

Apparently this has been fixed. If you email Paramount they can send a replacement disc.

The rotoscoping of that Pepsi poster looks awful. It’s a shame they don’t have the unblurred elements.

The Phantasm films also received alterations:

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!

The following is a list of what has been changed in the 4K restoration of Phantasm:
-New sphere (pracitical effect, not CGI)
-Yellow paint bucket removed in the scene where Mike, Jody, and Reggie enter the spacegate room (though it can still be seen to the naked eye)
-Fishing line digitally remove when sphere impales the Tall Man’s assistant (it should be noted that the black dot on the sphere in the next shot is still present despite the released preview image)
-And this I noticed today; the scene where Michael puts his hand in a box at the fortune teller’s house and struggles to get it out while her granddaughter tells him “Don’t fear.” zooms in slowly shot after shot until he gets his hand free.

Phantasm III:
-On releases 2005 and onward, the “Phantasm: Lord of The Dead” opening title is now “Phantasm III”

-On the Well Go USA/Arrow releases, a digital correction was made to the frozen Tall Man’s eye:
phantasmarchives.blogspot.com/2017/07/icymi-tall-man-digitally-altered-on.html

Phantasm: OblIVion:
-On releases 2008 onward, a shot of Mike with sphere eyes has been replaced with a shot of black at the beginning. To show you what I mean, here’s a clip of the unaltered scene sourced from the Anchor Bay UK DVD (go to 2:25):

The MGM US and Anchor Bay UK DVDs are unaltered.

Got my replacement Grease DVD yesterday so figured I’d share this to verify that the restoration error has been corrected.

I had mentioned Jaws. Here’s some screen grabs from the 2005 DVD and the 2012 BD. A bit tough to spot but the first example shows a wire balancing the buoy on the '05 DVD (look closely to the right of the buoy).

!
!

Second might be a bit tough to spot but to the far left is a sailboat on the horizon on the '05 DVD.

!
!

Here’s grabs from the Fullscreen DVD just to verify more since you can see what I mentioned somewhat better here. You can definitely see the sailboat I was talking about.

!
!

Again these are subtle changes but changes nonetheless.

Phantasm films added sloppily! Sorry it took so long, I’ve been very busy with work lately.

Not an ‘alteration’ alteration but worth mentioning. This is regarding the movie Indian in the Cupboard. For the US Theatrical release and International video releases the film was distributed by Paramount. For International Theatrical release and US video releases it was distributed by Columbia. For the Paramount release, Paramount gets first billing in the opening credits. For the Columbia release it’s reversed.

Columbia

!

Same for end credits. Note the Paramount version has 1995 in Roman Numerals while the Columbia version is regular numbers??

It took me all of two minutes to find it on youtube. I expect the price of unaltered DVD and Blu-Ray copies to skyrocket.

Good thing I got all 3 on DVD last year all together for like $15 while I still could.

People getting offended over a fucking animated film need to get their priorities straight.

That’s really not the place for this.
