Right. Trying to change the numbers later at the studio stage is just like a band aid. Is that the word? A sticking plaster! Looking at the current statistics the wrong approach.
Well, debatable. Marvel and the like often tend to hire directors hot off only a single indie feature and/or some TV episodes. These are standards a lot of female filmmakers can actually meet, yet we don’t see them get those jobs (well we are seeing it a bit more now, once again Star Trek has beaten SW to the punch).
LFL, in fairness, has been looking for filmmakers with a bit more work under their belt. But they should seriously consider being the ones to give them that additional work. Hopefully something like a TV show will be a good ground to develop working relationships with some non-white male filmmakers.
Anyway … Jon Favreau XD
Is he a good writer? I didn’t see Chef.
Chef was fine. I definitely don’t think of him as writer first. But that’s what writing rooms are for.
You know, I’ve been thinking Favreau actually would’ve been a really good Solo replacement director. I wonder if they tried to get him for that or if they went straight for the uber reliable Howard.
