Everybody please try and send some donations Poita’s way. An extremely rare unfaded ESB print has turned up that would be an invaluable resource for the community. ESB is the only one of the theatrical OT that we don’t have a good color reference for, and this print is exactly that.

Stop by his ESB thread in the Preservations section of the forum - there’s a PayPal link in his signature for donations.

still hopeful the whole 9-film saga gets released in 4k when the next movie is released on home video.
releasing Legacy would be most ideal at this point. if there was a 4k remaster done by the studio the colors would probably look weird or modernized again. maybe they’ll figure out seamless branching. dunno if that’s feasible with some shots being different lengths & requiring different audio, but i don’t know how blu-ray playlists work.

again, AotC and RotS can never be actual 4k. they were shot in 2k digital cameras.

Tbf they could still benefit from the format. HDR for sure. Possible they could re render the computer generated sets and animation in 4K and upscale the live actio, though unlikely they’d bother.

Don’t give them ideas. The last thing anyone should want is restored prequels.

Quoting yourself…well I’ll do you one better… WHY is Gamora?!

What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

They could bring George back to consult on prequel special editions.

Since most of the latter two prequels are CG anyway, you could probably get a pretty decent 4K image if you redid it all. Of course the actors would still look not so great.

How would that possibly harm anybody? Just don’t buy them.

to be fair, i think the prequels would benefit immensely if the cgi was remade.

This legitimately creeps me out.

Isn’t that its purpose?

[JEDIT]

Oops. I forgot this isn’t from the classic Twilight Zone episode “The After Hours”.

Me too. But I was saying in some years they’ll be able to remake the entire prequel trilogy with CGI Hayden if they want to.

Can they just replace him with Matt Lanter?

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

Good things happen to those who wait… 😉

Except we have been waiting for 25-30 years!

It won’t be Lucasfilm.

Criterion? One can dream!

#CriterionStarWars is trending on twitter now, so my mind jumped to this possibility as I gleefully clicked the trending tag only for it to be nothing more than a silly game where people made SW puns out of titles of Criterion-released movies (like “The Midichlorian Candidate” or “Solo: or the 120 Days of Jabba”).

Criterion would be perfect for the original Star Wars. You can have Lucas’ version for the commoners and the good version for those of us who care. Add the deleted scenes and the vintage documentaries with Empire of Dreams in HD.

Has Criterion ever done a 20th Century Fox film?

Yeah I did this too. I don’t get it.
