Well, technically there is. (To a certain degree anyway).

More a guideline than actual rule.

True. All I meant is that they can’t contradict it. And of course Saw Gerrera in RO was an EU character. And there’s going to be a few of them in Solo as well.

Yep. Since Chewie said he was a 190 years old in the trailer that would place Solo exactly 10 years before ANH.

Clone Wars has always been canon. Pretty sure Saw was actually a George creation, Saw was supposedly supposed to turn up in the cancelled live action series Underworld.

A better example would be Quinlan Vos and the Black Sun appearing in Clone Wars.

Haven’t the movies already contradicted the nuEU? That’s what I’ve heard regarding TLJ and the TFA novelization.

Yes, Rey meets Poe in the TFA novelization, and then they officially met in TLJ.

However the novelizations kind of exist in their own odd category.

But I don’t think the new movies can just blatantly retcon the EU like Lucas did with Legends whenever he felt like it.

True, but isn’t one of the “crew” in Solo originally from the new Marvel comics series?

EDIT; Never mind. I was thinking of a very similar character.

I’m still hoping Ron Howard makes something of his little twitter nod to Tag and Bink a few months back. Marvel just reprinted several Tag and Bink stories, so things are adding up to a possible appearance in the movie.

I thought the T&B cameos were confirmed?

We need a Tag and Bink Are Dead movie!

It should have been her, I don’t know why they created a new character. I love that the Cloud-Riders from the original Marvel run make an appearance though.

The same can be said for many nuEU characters.

“The Asteroid Field” theme gave me the biggest, dumbest grin.

The pacing and energy in that scene feels off. Besides the Asteroid Field theme nothing gave me any excitement. Am i dead or is this more about “I have a bad feeling about this movie”?

Rogue One is redundant. Just play the first mission of DARK FORCES.

Well it is a scene completely out of context.

Has a copy of this book turned up in your home recently?

If so, you’re mostly dead. 😛

Not sure what’s Haarspalter’s view about the inclusion of the asteroif field theme from Empire, but I don’t think it’s an unfair criticism to say that for some fans it may feel like a cheap emotional trick. I don’t see the point of using the theme in that scene from Solo.

I mean, I know it’s an unnecesary movie about a fan favorite character and they’re already explaining how Han won the Falcon, but there’s no need to make it that obvious.

Chewie’s first time playing Dejarik: https://youtu.be/urkiePoszu4?t=23

Also looks like they might have brought back Phil Tippett again to do the hologame, like they did for TFA.

I wasn’t really a big fan of the Dejarik moment in TFA as it seemed very pointless (I do appreciate the stop-motion however), but I guess this one makes a bit more sense as a lot of the movie will revolve around the Falcon.

The Kentucky Fried Movie skit didn’t even cross my mind last night. Well played, sir!

I’ve managed to resist most of the latest clips and trailers and other reveals, and I’m departing this thread at this point.

However, I decided to peek at this 360 degree snippet of the gambling scene I came across yesterday. It reveals a LOT of the creatures involved in it (some are pretty big it seems), so I’ll leave it here for anyone that wants to check them out -

I’m a little bummed out there don’t seem to be any 70mm IMAX engagements this time around. Not that I can afford to go up to San Jose twice in a year mostly to see a movie.

I sort of wonder if this movie will at all acknowledge or reference that Chewbacca once stood next to Yoda during a Jedi Council meeting the day of the Jedi Purge, and then howled sentimentally as Yoda gave him a somber goodbye and blasted off into the night sky.

My stance on revising fan edits.

I think they’re trying to play safe. There has been a few references in the ST (enough to make PT fans happy), plus stories set in the PT years, but I don’t think they’re gonna reference a few scenes from RotS that have been criticised a lot among fans.
