That article only points out some off-the-cuff statements that were wrong in some cases. The article loses all credibility when it says that he was too insensitive to people’s thoughts on Christmas. I hate this idea that we all have to celebrate other people’s holidays.

Again, what cultural matters are they even talking about that are so objectionable? I’ve yet to get any examples other than Christmas, which again, what he said wasn’t offensive. And as Frink already said, why does being a scientist automatically mean that they should never talk about anything else? I’m sure your profession isn’t related to the any of the shit you talk about on here or any other social media that you use.

Religions are tax exempt and for that reason their leaders shouldn’t be telling us how to vote. Also, religious knowledge implies no political credibility whatsoever. Being a scientist, on the other hand, actually does imply that they’re generally far more knowledgable than most people. This doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be right on all cultural or philosophical issues, but they’ve got a better shot at being right than most people do. And politicians shouldn’t be praying at all, they be representing us in our government like they’re supposed to.
