I like the idea of ending on the group shot, but it seems very abrupt. I’m wondering if you could switch the last two shots to keep the length the same. Go outside to see the Falcon in hyperspace and then back inside to end on the group shot.
I’ll probably experiment with that.
Good start with the DZ, I like it better than the falcon hyperspace going out. I wonder too from Please swapping those scenes so it ends on the group would help timing wise as well.

I think I’m going to have to kill my edit. My editing skills are pretty bad and it looks like most of what I want done is going to get done somewhere. Not many seem to want to remove Phasma, though.
Does anyone else feel the line “peace and purpose” to be corny and unnecessary? I think it would be better if Leia interrupted Rey with “I felt it too.”

I think I’m going to have to kill my edit. My editing skills are pretty bad and it looks like most of what I want done is going to get done somewhere. Not many seem to want to remove Phasma, though.
I didn’t remove her completely, but I axed the Finn v. Phasma fight at least. It was pretty easy.

Yeah, that did cross my mind. It’s definitely a continuity issue, but I don’t think it’s a huge leap in logic. Especially if one wants to remove the BB8 walker scene, which was part of my goal.
The viewer can just infer.
I prefer that then the silly At-St thing … very silly and distracting. If there was someone who was good at CGI one could implement BB-8 catching up to them from a distance. It may help if it is far enough away one would not need a whole lot of detail … but it may look off to do it smoothly.

I’ve cut the phasma fight as well and one can very easily assume that as they run for the shuttle that BB-8 rejoins them. One could even cut them running to the shuttle and make their arrival on Crait even more of an surprise but I’m still debating whether to implement that.

Not sure if this was intended to be a joke, forgive me if I missed something, but here is how I thought the scene should play out.
R: “luke is gone, I felt it”
leia nods
R: “but it wasn’t sadness or pain it was…”
cut to leia
L: “I felt it too”
I redid my concept ending for TLJ to clean it up a little more. I think that this could be a good concept for fan-editors who want to keep the Canto Bight kids in and end the film differently. It’s not perfect but it’s a good start.
It now ends like this:
Kylo w/ Dice -> Falcon Escape -> Canto Bight Kids -> Falcon Party -> End Credits

Haha, not a fan of Snoke’s dead face, huh?
I’ll probably play with removing Phasma completely and see if I can make it work seamlessly. If there’s no fight, then there’s little reason for her to be there at all.
