Those names are not familiar. Someone linked me a Mega folder, but the vast majority of his rips were the exact same as I had, which I downloaded in 2011.

The three episodes I did were from the best cap source available at the time, one that had somewhat flickery colors, but was complete and slightly undercut, from Toonami UK.

Oh, that’s strange. Last time I talked to Arien he seemed to believe you were a friend of Clutchins going by the name of usotsuki over on Kametsu, guess he was mistaken.

Yes, I also have the TVrips you’re referring to. Most of those were collected on the now closed Cartoon World forum from back in the day. However, since around 2014 Dismantles revealed on Kametsu that he’s gotten possession of a bunch of YTV recordings. I’ve talked to Arien about this (who’s a friend of his) and he’s told me that the tapes feature high quality audio of all the Ocean and Blue Water dubbed episodes that aired in Canada, so for DBZ that would start off somewhere around the Cell Games saga when Gohan transforms and continue until the end of the series. The Trunks/Android & Early Cell saga episodes only aired in the UK and Netherlands so they’re unfortunately not available in the same quality.

That being said, last three Toonami links I posted were taken from DVD recordings by a person in the UK called Robo4900. Arien recently made a trade with him in order to acquire recordings of DBZ episodes 115-120 + 192 as well as GT episodes 52-56 + 64. This was a great find, especially for the Android saga episodes which weren’t apart of the YTV recordings.

Dismantles and Arien have talked about doing a remaster similar to yours (using FUNi singles as a video source for authenticity) and have expressed interest in getting help with that. It does appear that it’s taking Dismantles a very long time to digitize the tapes though so no word yet on when the audio will be made available.

With all these new sources a new remaster is bound to happen, it’s just a matter of when.

I’m aware Canada switched to this dub later.

I’ve been in contact with him over on Rizon. We exchanged a few rips.

I used the Dragon Box with color correction because it’s higher quality, but still used the Funi singles to provide title cards - because while authenticity is important to me, I’d rather work from a higher quality source.

Well, the Japanese broadcast audio’s out there now. That genie’s been unleashed 😉

^PM, please. I’d like to be able to confirm this with my own hears, though I’ve no reason to doubt you!

edit: nah, found Z at the usual spots. Clarifying question does this include the original series as well having been released?

It’s just Z. There is some broadcast audio of the original Dragon Ball but not enough to make it worth trying to do anything with.

(ETA: That went over like a lead zeppelin. Can’t say I didn’t expect it, as I was warned that exactly that would happen, but still. What is it about the DBZ fandom?)

Yeah, the comments on that torrent are a riot.

I know, right? I did what I felt was right, and while there’s the usual questions and comments, half of it is the greedy clique we had to go through to get the audio, raging because I slaughtered their golden goose. I was well informed what the situation was with the audio going into this - and I was warned that there would be a lot of butthurt, but I wasn’t exactly prepared for what I got. These guys don’t have two brain cells to rub together, even though some of them (like enigmo) definitely have humongous egos.

DNR? Fucking stop using it and you should fully embrace film grain.
Dragon Ball Z is officially on BD with the uncensored and unedited Japanese versions. IDGAF about the English dub at all or this censored shit.
For Dragon Ball, any chance it’s in HD and the original Japanese audio? No DNR bullshit or the English dub, please. No MKV, just some unedited with OG Japanese on some random multiple BD25s.
Because I doubt Funimation or whoever the fuck is releasing DBZ OG on BD will release DB. Ya dig?

Those BDs you’re talking about are the epitome of excessive DNR, as well as cropped.

Not all Blu-ray disc is worth buying. Especially anime which is solely more for weebs these days. Naruto and One Piece would be mocked and completely laughable if it were released on the format.
I’ll settle for Studio Ghibli and random stuff on the format. Dubs, audio and dubtitles, blows goats for quarters anyway.
Please excuse my obviously blatant shitpost.

The quality of the show isn’t the relevance to the project, but whether there is a preservation to be done.

Some animation in the more recent years, prior to the HD switch, was done in digital SD, and there is no point to a BluRay release. I believe original Naruto falls into that category.

It’s Blu-ray disc. Not BluRay, BlueRay, Blu-ray DVD, etc.
Naruto is fucktarded and completely for weeaboos. One Piece sucks donkey dick too. There’s absolutely no reason why the majority of these series need to be over 400~700 episodes.
Isn’t there Dragon Ball Super? Another stupid thing for me to not give a toss about. Why not preserve some live-action Disney movies in OAR and HD?

tl;dr I’m fucking done.

Yes you are.

And FYI, there are Disney preservation projects going on if you bothered to look around.

This thread has been dormant for some time now but I’d still like to query if someone knows about this “original Japanese broadcast audio” that people keep mentioning all around the interwebs? Is there some fan-made package somewhere with DBZ “Levels” quality video and the Japanese broadcast audio? I have read that the broadcast audio is much better (or clearer) compared to even the bluray audio.

…or should I just forget about this quest and go straight with Dragon Ball Kai? I heard the English dub is pretty awesome. I just usually go with Japanese audio + English subs.

There is a team online working on a project of that level via dragon box quality combining different sources like the broadcast audio, I don’t have all the details since they haven’t posted any episodes publicly yet, but they do have the first dbz movie online as an example for what to expect moving forward. This link will only last a tad longer than 3 days so nab it quick if you’re interested. ** LINK REMOVED BY MODERATOR**

Gomu69 - good luck with your project mate - but we can’t have direct links to downloads on this site - which is why we came up with this Rule: No direct links to media downloads of copyrighted materials on this site (amongst others).

I am sure you understand why.

If in doubt please read the ‘Fan edit/preservation forum rules and FAQ’, here - link

Hi Gomu69. I’d suggest that you edit your post to remove the link, as forum rules state: “No direct links to media downloads of copyrighted materials.” I know that you only left the active link up briefly, but it’s not allowed here, FYI. 😃

Man, this blew up hard in my face and even harder in my friend’s face who got me the audio…and even harder in the face of two people who got doxxed because someone was butthurt about the audio getting out. Ugh.

Had to pull the torrent for the time being, hoping it’ll at least mitigate future damage. The genie’s still out of the bottle.

Which one? I’ve got several DB-related projects, though to be fair, the whole audio incident has kinda soured me.

May I inquire what actually happened with the audio? Like why are people butthurt about it being released?

I’ve been browsing for the “perfect DB package” on Nyaa for a few weeks now and everything seems to be out of seeders. Fortunately I managed to get the Utsukushii’s Dragon Ball (which only has the Japanese audio with English subtitles). I think I can live without dubs though.

Because they were selling it.

Ah. Buncha scammers. I just wasn’t sure what the context was behind your previous posts on the matter.
