Dude. If you’re going to share creative ideas with other people (especially other creatives) you need thicker skin. Don’t get pissed off when people share constructive criticism.

As a piece of fanfiction, it’s not bad. As an honest suggestion for a fan edit of a live action film, it’s just not feasible, and most of us don’t think it would improve the film even if it was.

And less than a quarter (at most) of the comments about it were vitriolic or dismissive. All rest were legitimate constructive criticism or honest opinions about whether or not it’s suitable as a suggestion for this project presented in a polite manner, which is exactly what you asked us for.

There’s no explanation needed for a lack of response regarding Vader’s unmasked appearance. If ESB ended with Luke saying, “Sure. I’ll join up”, and then they go out for tea, then yes, some kind of reaction shot (I think a double take, followed by, “Bwaaaa?” would be best).

But his concern is entirely on his ailing/dying father at that point, not something superficial like his appearance.

I made this scene quite a few years ago and thought it was a cool concept. The fact that almost all of you have shown it nothing but vitriol in a thread designated to an alternate version of the SEs. You are all hypocrites and should be ashamed of yourselves for thinking that one idea is “superfluous” when the very idea of changing the original versions is something a lot of us see as blasphemy.

Everyone was perfectly nice to you. Especially for this site, and especially for anywhere on the internet. But I guess we’re done with that, now.

Last comment on this and then let’s close this topic and move on to making serious suggestions.

Even if anyone were to attempt creating a fanfilm scene like this or for any other edit, it’d cost money in the possible thousands to get/make props, the necessary materials to build a set, filming equipment, a professional crew that knows how to film it the proper way, and getting someone to portray Vader Admiral Piet etc.

Taking that into account, do you think it’ll be easier for someone who’s had to ask for donation drives as a last resort? Even though you understandably want your suggestion put out there, it all comes down to if you end up seeing it on the change list.

Thank you for being the ONLY person who has not attacked my scene.

Yeah, that’s not what happened.

I didn’t attack your scene. I didn’t read it because it’s too long and it’s in the wrong thread.

I apologize for my statements. Tone is impossible to tell online.

We’re all crazy here.

We just don’t show it here.

That’s the unspoken rule.

The second unspoken rule is that if you feel like a victim from 2 or more people, you’re probably being taught something. Take the time. Figure out what it is.

(Unspoken rules tend to be difficult for ocd, adhd, etc. because there is nothing finite about whether it’s a rule or not. Just assume it is.)

It’s fine. I’m not familiar with the writing section of the forum, so I don’t know what it’s actually like there. But maybe you will find it helpful. I would imagine constructive feedback on writing is what they’re into.

The place is pretty dead, unfortunately.

Adywan mentioned he was going to tweak or re-do the Super Star Destroyer crashing into the Death Star II. Stumbled across this video & thought I’d share it-

Also, any thoughts in adding some star ship debris to the space battle?

And, can we get an update on you reaching your $6000 goal?

I’ve been on the hunt hoping to find a shot of James Earl Jones saying the words “Your Mother”. So far no luck, but he does say “Mother of God” clearly in The Hunt for Red October. I don’t know crap about audio editing, but Vader says “You’re feelings have now betrayed her too”. Wonder if those words can be strung together to make the line “You’re Mother once thought as you do,” without it sounding like the Joshua war computer form War Games.

I guess I don’t understand why this would be worthwhile.

It’s something Adywan said he was considering and I’m on board for that change. He’s fixed mistakes that are less blatant than this one. Obi Wan never once even attempted to turn Anakin back from the Dark Side. It was Padme that tried. The great way James Earl Jones delivered the line shows Luke touched a nerve. But as is, the line doesn’t coincide. Though changing it to “Your Mother once thought as you do,” ties the trilogies together. And I really like the idea of showing Vader think back to his last moments with Padme while he’s talking to their son.

Oh ok never mind then, didn’t realize that.

Although I don’t really consider it a mistake and I don’t think it’s worth changing it. But it’s not my edit.

Best place to look for JEJ quotes is him narrating The Bible. I’d imagine it’s the largest available source.

No good, every time he has the opportunity to say “your mother” he says “thy mother”. Could be used as another source to get the word “mother” though.

I think it’s worth it. The PT is the greatest thing that’s happened to Star Wars if you don’t count everything else, so they should be acknowledged.

Even if the proper words or dialogue spoken by him saying “your mother” were found, the voice would never match the tone, rhythm, and beat etc. with the way the full line is spoken during the scene.

Maybe using a James Earl Jones sound-alike?
