I’d say my favorite moment in the Star Wars saga is from when the score comes back for Luke’s attempt at the trench run until the very end of the movie. I always get the chills during “use the force, Luke” and when the Death Star blows up.

+1 exactly my thoughts when I updated my ranking a couple weeks ago

For me, it will always be the twin sunset.

Has anyone ever seen Cruel Jaws (aka Jaws 5) a really bad / good-bad shark movie? It’s a big rip off but for some reason they decided not to steal the right John Williams theme, it’s got the Star Wars theme in it at random intervals. I recommend seeing the whole thing.

Is that one of those Turkish knock off films?

Never thought about the similarity before. I think the music predates it’s use for the early Walt Disney home video fanfare, but can’t place it.

Maybe Frink can use it once he gets around to the new films. 😛

I should never go on reddit again. Its all one big PT circle jerk there.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

A Star Wars Story idea for Disney:

Tantive IV

Taking place in real time, the story crosscuts between Leia/Captain Antilles/the droids on the Tantive IV, Vader and officers on the Devastator, and Palpatine/Bail Organa in the Senate in the two hours between the escape from Scarif and the arrival on Tatooine.

The Tantive storyline focuses on the crew as they come to the realization that they will probably have to give their lives for the Rebellion, and the things they do to prepare for this. There is talk of a mutiny, and Leia is forced to use all her diplomatic skills to keep the situation from boiling over.

On the Devastator, Vader is seriously injured after overexerting himself just minutes before. He descends into Force hybernation where he re-lives his most painful experiences in the two decades leading to this moment. His officers question the sanity of their captain, and their lack of respect for him also leads to a breakdown of discipline.

In the Senate, Bail Organa has arrived unexpectedly to rally the allies of the Rebellion and force the Emperor to deal with them. There is a mad rush for votes as they hope to overturn at least some of Palpatine’s authority. Palpatine is forced into a political corner, with no choice but to dissolve the council permanently.

In the final scene, the Tantive arrives out of Hyperspace and Luke sees the battle in the sky.

Fade out.

Were the lightsabers “fixed” in Star Wars for the 1997 SE or for the 2004 DVD?

Everything, including the lightsabers, was recomposited for the 1997 SE, and then prints were struck from this for the theatrical re-release. In 2004 they went back to the original negative, so the recompositing had to be done again, this time digitally.

At least, this is my understanding of what occurred since it appears that the lightsaber elements (which were shot on low-quality film) have degraded more severely than the underlying footage with each iteration.

If by “fixed” you mean the screwed up the saturation and made Vader have a pink blade in multiple scenes, then yes!

On a serious note only the ones in ANH were changed to make red/blue stand out more. Of course they made Luke’s green in the training scene too for the DVD version because of the first problem I mentioned…

I mean Obi-Wan’s lightsaber seems pretty re-rotoscoped, so I was wondering if that happened in 1997 or 2004.

So Bail would have to travel from the Imperial Senate on Coruscant back to Alderaan in well under two hours in order to be there to get blown up when the Death Star arrives? Pfft, that doesn’t sound very realistic!

What did he use, Khan’s special long range transporter or something? 😉

This idea was meant as a joke, but whatever…
…Alderaan was blown up several days into ANH, so technically my timeline works!

So there!

You must be new to Star Wars. Everything has to make sense and conform to how you want it to be from the exact first moment you experience it or it’s the worst thing ever. The worst thing ever. All true fans know this (to be true.)

Something dawned on me today: BB-9E is the most competent guy in the first order.

Kyle Ren: Lost to an untrained girl

Hux: Falls prey to Poe’s stalling tatic and then is thrown around by Snoke

Phasma: Need I say more?

Stormtrooper from Takodana: Shot by Han Solo without knowing what hit him

Snoke: Is betrayed by his apprentice in a moment that is very obvious

BB-9E: Was the only one to notice the rebels in their poor disguises, only for his superiors to botch everything up
