yes . 95 and 96 were great issues IMHO . I thought there was a nice manga look to the art as well and it was long before the current manga craze .I thought luke’s second weapon was a smaller lightsaber though.

You know, looking at in now it is unclear. I always took it to be the short blade Kiro brought from his homeword which he retrieves from his belongings before going to rescue Luke. And we see a close up of it, with Lukes hand approaching it as tells Kiro he has an idea.

But Luke does tell Kiro he needs to make something before facing Lumiya, and when he faces her both weapons look like energy weapons, and he says that have two waepons one short and one long will allow him to match the two natures of her weapon so I’m not sure anymore.

And I see what you mean about the manga feel.

I neglected to mention the Obi Wan during the Old Republic flashback issue. With all the constraints the Marvel team labored under, I imagine it took some persistence to get a green light on that tale.

I’ll echo what’s been said here and tip the hat to the ‘Wheel saga’ and the ‘8 Against a World’ Seven Samurai story. The Shira Brie stuff was amazing (I’d love someone to do a Marvel-canon ‘infinities’ series that rewrites ROTJ with Shira as the ‘other hope’) and I thought ‘The Last Jedi’ was a great issue.
And how beautiful was that moment in the rain when Threepio had been entrusted with the Bothan tapes?

Lumiya was one of the few Marvel characters to cross over into the EU novels, wasn’t she?

I’ve said it before but I really enjoy those Al Williamson Marvel comics.

Thanks for reminding me of the Shira Brie stories, those were really good. Too bad Lumiya wasn’t in there much in the end and the drawing style had went ugly at that point. I remember them spoiling the reveal in the comic’s comment section where some kid was like “I think Lumiya is Shira Brie…” and the translator was like “hmm, yeah, maybe!”.

And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.

Ahhh , The Star Words letter column at the back of many an issue , there were some real gems in there , great snapshot of early fandom , There was one fan who wrote in before Return Of The Jedi came out who commented that Luke and Leia acted more like brother and sister than love interests !

One has to wonder if George ever sent in a letter under a fake name. 😉

Would really be something if someone who went on to work on the new films wrote a letter that was published.

I love the Marvel comics — up 'til the post-ROTJ era. Aside from Lumiya, those issues have very little going for them.

Nice! Would be interesting if Marvel did a series picking up the old continuity where it left off in 1986.

Seems like almost everything Star Wars related just shut down shy of the tenth anniversary, including the Kenner toys, and the original fan club. Even Starlog magazine asked the question Is the fandom dead?

The Hoojibs were the first thing I thought of when seeing the Porgs for the first time , I saw an illustration somewhere of Artoo surrounded by Porgs and remembered that there is also a Star Wars Galaxy trading card out there of Artoo surrounded by Hoojibs as well . both the Porgs and The Hoojibs are also crawling on him in each illustration

It would be really disturbing if Porgs are revealed to be intelligent creatures in IX. 😉
