Why did your Led Zep covers get muted??

Led Zeppelin is notorious for issuing fraudulent copyright strikes. I suspect that’s why.

Just on my Google drive. I suppose I should find a public host for them but I wouldn’t know where to begin. I could also snail mail you some physical copies if you like. I enjoy giving people the real CDs with covers and such.

If not I’ll dig out the links.

I’m working on getting my first album uploaded. I’ve decided to put them up here in chronological order so that people can see the evolution and progression.

For right now I’m uploading lossless FLAC versions, with disc and cover art and everything. I may also upload a lossy compressed mp3 version if there’s enough demand for it, but I would imagine most people would possess the ability to make it for themselves if they need it.

On a random note, I’m actually considering spending my tax return next year just buying the rights to sell all these songs in my cover versions. It’s not really very expensive but when you consider that I’ve done probably 100 songs it adds up. But not only would that allow me to advertise more but then I could make some of my production costs back. But this is several months in the future.

Alterations Cover

My first album from back in 2014, Alterations. As an album, it is very different than the sound I’ve developed today. Many of the traits from this album remain in my sound at present, blistering guitars, thrashy rhythm guitars, glittery leads, and a symphonic/synthfonic layer over the top of it. Although the precedent for the “instrumental concept albums” I would later create that are meant to tell a story through vibe and tone is set here, this is not the emotional and deep sounding anthems that would come later. Although the track listing was constructed with a consistent tone and the tracks ordered with momentum in mind, it was much simpler in design than later albums. In style it is much faster and harsher than later albums, it is very fast at times and quite metallic. It’s harsh and intense sounding, with little in the way of the somber attitude and storytelling of later albums. That’s not to say this album isn’t a good listen. It’s many of my fans favorite album to this day and isn’t to be ignored. It’s hard hitting, punchy, direct, it gets in your face and has no apologies.

Recording this album has alot of fond memories. The recording methods were very primitive, and the sound quality isn’t as good as my newest album, but it is better than the sound quality on the last couple before it for some reason. It has a bit of a brittle sound to the guitars, and some of the guitars weren’t recorded well and have sort of a “clipped” sound. But it overall still sounds pretty good on a good sound system with firm bass and a good foundation. Perhaps a slight too much treble in the master but that is easy to fix on any stereo system.

Going to start indexing the first post with the albums also. Ignore the nonsense on the first couple pages…

Let me know what you think. It’s not really very indicative of the lush expansive moody albums that would come later but I think it still stands strongly. Buckle up though it’s an intense ride.

Don’t remember if I posted the soundcloud link at the time, but I’m very excited about having finally recorded this. I’ve loved this song since I was little and always idolized over being able to play it.

Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)

It’s on the newest album.

And I plan on getting my second album hosted tonight for digital download, and as always physical copies available.

I’ve finally gotten around to uploading my second album, from still back in 2015, for digital download.

Withering, my second album. It’s much the same as the first, although with poorer recording quality due to conditions at the time and me rushing the production job. It’s very brittle and harsh sounding, and it’s quite aggressive but honestly I don’t think it has the pop or punch of the first album that really grabs you like Alterations does. It’s an okay album, although I would definitely say it’s my weakest. If you like my sound you will enjoy it, but it’s not as punchy as the first album or as creative and enveloping as the later albums. But if you like my sound it’s still worth a listen. The next album after this is where I really found myself, The Way would be next and that’s the album that got me most of my fans. I’ll upload it soon enough I hope.

If any of you guys like my music, please join the facebook group, The Sound Of Nails on a Chalkboard.

Being a very small name, most of the people in the group are people that I either live in close proximity to or are actually good friends with, and my personal account is the admin, so if you join please be respectful, and no star wars talk on there please. 😃

I need more ways to promote this. Maybe I should make a website or something. I’m considering spending part of my next tax return getting the rights to all the cover songs so I can actually promote it and sell it conventionally. (Getting the license for cover songs isn’t as expensive as you might think but I bet I’ve done over 100 songs, or at least close to it. I don’t get any financial gain as it is. I pay for everything out of pocket and give out the CDs for free. I don’t really mind that it’s not about money at all I just like knowing I’m entertaining people. But being able to legally charge something small like say 5 bucks a CD would go a long way to helping recoup the costs of the making the CDs. There’s alot of costs, printer ink, jewel cases, special paper for the covers, blank discs… It adds up pretty fast. And for the folks don’t digital downloads maybe something like 3 dollars an album to cover the costs of the music itself e.g. guitar strings, guitar maintenance, microphones, and possibly recoup some of the losses of getting the rights in the first place.

This is a long way off though, as of now I’m still unlicensed and everything is free.

My third album, The Way. This is where things really started for me, and it was certainly when I first started to get fans and attention. (A little of each anyway…) This is the album that started the tradition of a narrative concept album, still told through instrumentals. Less emphasis on guitar pyrotechnics and aggression and more on musicality and creating a mood. Atmosphere and ambiance became a huge focus on this one, and if you like the sound I have now this is where it all started.

Still running my newest album, “The Lost Woods”, if there is anybody left that would like a copy. And I will continue to upload the last few remaining older albums for digital download on here.

With that out of the way, I would like to share something new. This next album I’m working on I am making mainly for myself, to get out some negative feelings that I’ve been feeling lately. Anger, frustration, bitterness, just in general dark feelings that I’ve been needing to channel. The sound will be different from what I’ve been doing lately, and this album will mostly just be me channeling my negative feelings to get them out of my system. I needed an outlet to vent them, and decided the music was the best way. This isn’t a permanent change in style, just for one album. This album will be dedicated to all the people and supposed loved ones and events that have done me wrong in recent times and have hurt me. I needed to do this for me. If you’re feeling angry or upset, maybe you will like it too.

I picked the mildest and most “normal” song I’ve done so far.
