What was the jingling part again?

All the coins that were put into BB-8 at the casino by a drunk gambler.

No I know I mean what was the funny part regarding the coins jingling. As opposed to the part where the alien puts the coins in, or the part where he shoots them at the security guards.

It’s kinda subtle, but in every scene with BB-8 in between when the alien slots the coins in and BB shoots them out, when he moves around you can hear jingling.

It’s like in ESB when Lando opens the door to reveal Vader and then Boba Fett walks in with a pocket of of jingling coins to break the tension. Classic Star Wars humor.

The blue elephant in the room.

Oh hey a video review. Hard pass.

dahmaged if you can understand Phasma and bits 'o Finn complaints, I think you have to add BB-8 in there as well. Specifically, the walker sequence.

Why though? Chewie once hijacked a walker. Droids can’t?

Well, Chewie is an experienced pilot that uses his arms everyday. BB-8 is a droid that seemingly relies on a his data port or whatever to jack in to transportation vessels to operate them. It is a stretch.

Isn’t that what he does though? Or are you saying that’s hard to believe (but that’s what droids do)?

BB8 Tying up and gagging people was a bigger stretch.

Literally the whole point of Luke showing up and making a scene is inspiring hope across the galaxy.

“The Rebellion is reborn today.”

The Resistance won’t be able to fit on the Falcon for long. This is made pretty clear in the film.

Yeah, but that all depends how the FO will rule the galaxy. It’s not two major organisations backed by various systems like in the OT. In ANH many systems were rebellung against the Empire, because it was oppressing the galaxy. Now it’s hundreds of thousands of troops versus fifty people. If the FO are smart, there won’t be a Resistance ever.

Luke didn’t just inspire little kids with brooms. He inspired everyone who sympathizes with the Resistance’s plight, including, as is implied, their allies in the Outer Rim.

Sympathy that will only last if the FO are an oppressive force. The Resistance have no allies. Their socalled allies in the outer rim didn’t answer.

If the FO set up a benevolent form of government, the Resistance will never rise again, and quickly fade into obscurity. That is as decisive a victory as victories can be. It’s completely up to the FO to drop the ball.

First of all, the FO does not control the galaxy yet. They are in the process of picking up the pieces during the course of TLJ, that is why the quest for Luke is so dire (Rey states this outright in the film). Their ruling style is irrelevant. They are a fascist regime that favors the wealthy and corrupt. The only way the gain power is by leveling whole communities. The goal is to stop them before they can take full control.

And the allies didn’t answer because “the spark has gone out.” Luke reignited the spark. That’s literally the whole point of the climax.

According to the info from the film, the FO will take full control in weeks. That seems a very short time frame for our miniscule group of rebels.

But don’t you understand that it’s not just the “minuscule” group anymore by the end because of Luke?

The thing is, who else was there to witness Jake’s actions?

Insisting on calling Luke “Jake” is really silly. I hate the prequels and the Anakin we got was not in any way the Anakin I wanted, but I’m not going to make a show of calling him “Tomakin.”

Your opinion on Luke being done incorrectly is valid. It’s an opinion I completely disagree with, but it’s your right to believe it. Refusing to call him by his actual name just comes off as childish.

I’m only following Mr Hamill’s example 😉

But I agree that it’s probably a bit juvenile for me to use it as opposed to Mark in order to act out a character he can’t accept as the Luke Skywalker he knows. Seeing that I’m not going to watch the movie again it’s not like I have to create an alternate canon to accept him in since I don’t accept the entire movie as canon anyway.

So I’ll just refer to TLJ Luke from here on as “TLJ Luke” to differentiate the character from OT Luke since I clearly have different views on both characters.

caught a matinee showing on my day off today. 2D Imax. 4th time. Excellent movie.

I really can’t understand 90% of the criticisms in this thread. there are like 10% of them that i can understand, but the rest?

  • I can understand not liking parts of the Canto Bight sequence
  • I can understand wanting to know a bit more about snoke (curiosity and all that)
  • I can understand being annoyed by Phasma, and bits of Finn as well

not much else though.

Most of the criticism is not the movie as a stand-alone item, but how the movie fits into the SW universe.

Make sense as now, you just ‘catch’ the force and can do anything with it.

I feel bad for you guys who didn’t like TLJ, so I figured I’d set a few jokes up on a tee for you to whack out of the park.

I believe the CGI alien that put coins in BB8 is Mark Hamill. I read that somewhere. Is that right?

That’s speculation, which I doubt because it doesn’t say anything.

I’m pretty sure Hamill voices the first alien we see on Canto Bight (the mustache twirling one on the yacht). But I don’t think they’ve revealed anything officially.

No, I read about it around Christmas, right before I saw the movie the second time. You can hear that the alien is voiced by Hamill.

No I also read something a week ago that said Mark Hamill voice to a little drunk alien putting the coins in bb8. Yhwx can find it.

And to answer Frink for the rest of the casino sequence you can tell bb-8 has extra mass as he’s rolling around and you can hear the coins inside of him.

I went in expecting to like it the same as I like The Force Awakens but I was blown away. I honestly don’t have any problems with the film. I’m glad I feel that way and I can’t wait to see it again.

I am RIGHT with you and Cobb! This film blew me away. It had my legs shaking. Of course I have some issues. Too much comedy and Canto Bight could be cut down. You could also get rid of Leia’s superman moment. But besides that? Well what you have is a Star Wars masterpiece. Now begins my full review. Feel free to poke any holes through it if you disagree:

This film is so incredible in so many ways and I don’t know where to start so I will just start moving through some of the great things.

Firstly, Luke’s fate was one of the most beautiful and inspiring scenes in Star Wars history. This film instantly feels so much richer and more satisfying than both Force Awakens and Rogue One.

Rey and Kylo’s relationship was absolutely perfect. An amazing moral drama between the two that had my eyes glued to the screen. Luke and Yoda’s scene might be the most heartwarming scene in the whole film. Luke’s training is full of interesting moments (sometimes too much humor), and an amazing depiction of how the Force connects everything. When Rey feels things around her and we get her describing the beauty and chaos with the accompanied visuals, it was just visceral.

The multiple perspectives and descriptions of the Kylo/Luke flashback work perfectly. I felt so sorry for Luke and the guilt he felt. His dialogue about it being a “fleeting moment” and only then realizing his great mistake was just wonderful. I also actually started to see why Kylo would have that as the moment that sets him crazy and loose.

The relationship between Rey and Ben Solo was beautiful. Very saddening towards the end yet still emotionally rewarding. Their force bond was a genius and inventive idea from Rian Johnson. Their complex moral dilemma of Rey seeing the desire for good in Kylo makes sense and I totally felt it to be true. And Kylo’s use of Rey’s parentage against her and his persuasion was just great.

Luke at the end was a true Jedi. Using the force for the ultimate defense, using Ben Solo’s hate against him, saving his friends, and lighting hope for the galaxy. Then he finally finds his peace with a binary sunset. The same sunset he gazed upon when he once desired to be apart of something greater than himself.

“The Rebellion is reborn today…The War is not over…And I will NOT be the Last Jedi…”

Come at me folks. I LOVED this film.

Sorry to quote a three-week old post but this is pretty much how I felt about the film, explained in a much more concise way.

Just came back from seeing the movie again. I absolutely loved it, more so than the first time. Also, I completely missed the implication that Maz banged the master codebreaker the first time around.
