Has anyone else seen this? It’s a digital recreation of the Obi-Wan / Vader fuel with more modern choreography. This is a teaser, with the full scene to be released next year.

Here’s someone’s attempt to integrate it with the movie:

I’ve been sent this video many times, through PM’s on facebook and posts on the facebook page. Although this does look really good, it just can;t be added seamlessly into ANH. Not only would it be hard to eliminate the over stylised processing added to the video, but the way its is filmed just doesn’t match the cinematography used in the rest of the film. You can see in the video where someone added the shots into the film, that it just doesn’t work. Having the shots suddenly change to a low angle is very jarring. And thats before taking into account that Vader looks too “shiny” and having to rotoscope the characters and add a background that matched the real corridor. If it hadn’t been shot so stylised with the low angle camera, then there may have been a chance if using some shots. But, unless the completed version has shots that are filmed more in line with the '77 film, i won;t be using any of it

I happen to like the final shots where the characters actually start fighting in that project…but the build-up shots before that just remind me of a videogame cut-scene with it’s overall look and camera-movements.

No idea why the makers think this could just be dropped smoothly into the existing movie when they went out of their way to add additional lights and glows to the corridor walls, compared to the movie. And they didn’t even bother to match Vader’s chestplate correctly.

Still a very neat project however, and I’m interested to see the final version of it eventually.

And let me take this opportunity to wish adywan and everyone here on these forums a very happy New Year ahead.

Happy New Year…

Yeah fair decision but it is perhaps a good idea in it’s essence perhaps it will improve when in final.

Is there any plan to sort out the jumbled editing after Luke shouts “Noooo!” And starts blasting?

  1. The shots are in the wrong order we see Vader with his foot on the cloak then we see him walking over to the cloak. We also see a small bit of repeated footage I think from another camera of a stormtrooper (same thing briefly twice.)
  2. Leia “Come on” is repeated twice and is the same take but it feels like the audio track was repeated.
  3. In connection with point 1 and 2 this may point to a missing snippet of footage of the same length (2 Seconds). It is possibly the storm trooper that falls down the lift shaft or loading lift shaft?

I think it would be interesting to see this in a different order that worked better and flowed better.

Edit.

After watching again seems to be Vader is seen walking towards the cloak after he is there. The shot is spliced of the storm trooper being hit and the panel being hit.

Storm trooper hit and starts to fall (splice) about 7 seconds later he finishes his fall and the door panel explodes.

Basically it is in the wrong order that is all. And if there is a missing snippet from memory it might be luke bagging one more trooper before running up the ramp. That is perhaps what has happened.

One thing that I’ve recently found out about Vader’s TIE Advanced, it that the front window’s continuity doesn’t match up between the interior and exterior.
It was faithfully recreated in everyone’s favourite Battlefront 2 (2017)

It’d be nice to have this 2nd TIE Fighter window related problem fixed in ANHR:HD

I don’t know if it has been suggested, but it would be great if you could include some starfighters and other stuff that appeared in Rogue One (like U-wings).

I have investigated a bit more on the Hangar Shoot out on the Death Star.

Here is my best guess and pretty confident this video below is a accurate Chronological edit of the scene (without repeated shots) I make mistakes like anyone else but the key word is “think” and don’t mind anyone pointing out an alternative.

https://vimeo.com/249867487

Ok so what I found for the purpose of analysis was that upon the shot where the stormtrooper falls down the loading bay hole is the point of a repeated piece of footage discrepency of 30 frames exactly (1 second). So that means we have 30 frames more than we should have and not that there is anything missing… We have more than we need by 1 second repeated. This is a problem so far as the music is concerned…

There are a few points to note on the audio side.

In terms of the video I did, the Audio does need editing on it but it still works surprisingly well like this. I added the audio in the right place for “Come on!” said by Han and then by Leia in the right place (1st time) but it is repeated again later on in the Video. When it is repeated it needs to be ignored upon the shot where Leia mouths “Luke it’s too late” this is where the vocal needs to be moved to for this part and “Blast the door Kid”. but the music is as it should be or roughly correct only the dialogue needs to be moved.

In terms of getting the continuity correct for R2-D2 going up the ramp this is a swap shot and was obviously swapped out at a late stage. when you put this shot in the right order you notice R2-D2 beeping so the sound mix was done for at least that shot to be moved back in to it’s proper location on the timeline. also Leia behind the leg on the ramp. There is possibly more shots that work in terms of sound mix in different locations on the timeline also.

Anyway it’s not so much a suggestion but I like stuff like this and I find it interesting and If I had to guess what the 30 frames were that were repeated and possibly a goof I will tell you. IF there is an alternative 30 frames missing I would guess it would be either a simple extension to an existing shot or it was a close up of a storm trooper firing It really can’t be anything else but that would only concern the music (1 second). the 30 frames would fall on where Leia says “Luke Come on!” before the same take for “come on!” part is Repeated.

Anyway hope you enjoy the analysis and the rough edit and understand what I am trying to do and understand what happened with it.

Just noticing now that some of Leia waving her arms on the ramp is also repeated footage also… So it’s now more than 30 frames if there is a shot missing. Probably is a shot missing (small one) I would say now given the increased frames.

Sorry for double post did a polished version of the Hanger Shoot out Audio including music and sound effects it sells the chronological version a lot better. I also have since re-arranged a few shots that were perhaps in the wrong order… Never the less this is the final order of “my” judgement I have settled on but not impartial to another take If you think it should be different. Link Below.

https://vimeo.com/249948877

Noticed in the surround channels of the 5.1 mix that the door hiss after the door panel (Blast the door kid) is destroyed is repeated twice but only once on the center channel. It’s a weid beast indeed so that bit got chopped out and it sort of now works…

Also please note extra light saber (sound effect) kisses to go with the flashes before obi-wan get’s the chop. And a lot of extra blaster sound effects…

Now here is the most important point. On the 4:3 TV release what portion of the screen do we see when the storm trooper get’s blasted in close up before the door panel get’s blasted? Are we focusing on the doorway ignoring the same stormtrooper being killed twice or are we focusing on the door a stormtrooper shooting and vaders back as I have done? (for 30 frames). This could be one of those problems that it is meant to be cropped and not fully open. I had an instance of this before on enter the dragon where a shot was meant to be cropped and TV version is perfect but fully open is a problem. I think it is one of those made for TV Cropped shots that made it’s way in. i.e open matte but should be zoomed in on.

Not wanting to be a pain on this but this was quite a lot of work and brain power to come to this I hope it may may it inspire you.

Leia waving her hands is not a repeat.

Hi all, loved Adywan’s first Revisited so looking forward to the HD version.

Wondering if Rogue One has changed anything you’d do to it? “There’s no escape for the Princess this time” does tie in with the close of Rogue One, I always assumed 3PO was covering for her in ANH.

I’d love the deleted scene of Bail getting blown up (leave out Jar Jar though!) reinstated. It’s a brilliant scene and adds a lot more than the original “pop” explosion of Alderaan. Especially in the context of the destruction on Jedha.

And could always cut in some of the Rogue One pilots into the initial TIE attack on the Death Star, reverse the favour from R1!

And of course, the world below the Death Star should be Scarif (as Ady has already said!)

The only other thing I’d do if I had the knowledge to do it would be to update some of the sound effects for consistency across the saga. Namely Vader’s Stardestroyer doesn’t sound much like a Stardestroyer when it leaves Tatooine, and likewise the TIE fighters have an aircraft “Neeeyeow” sound when they attack the Falcon rather than their distinctive noise.

“I must return to Alderaan to inform my people there will be no peace” Bail in Rogue One

I’d like to see him briefly on Alderaan as the planet meets its doom. I think that would add context and a human element to the tragedy.

Hello, I just wanted to say I love the Revisited project and am highly grateful to Adywan for all of his efforts. I know this isn’t the ESB:R forum but I couldn’t find anywhere else to ask this because the official ESB:R forum is essentially dead now. Please don’t bite my head off for this but I thought it was important for someone to relay this information to Adywan before he releases the BD-25.

I believe I found an error in ESB: Revisited. During the scene where the Millenium Falcon escapes the empire by floating away with the garbage there is a bad/choppy music cut out when the scene switches to Boba Fett following them in the cockpit of his ship. I checked the Despecialized edition and it doesn’t seem to have this issue. I don’t know how difficult it would be but perhaps this is something that can be corrected on the BD-25 release.

Thanks. Looking forward to the rest of the trilogy.

Obviously the previous Alderaan destruction, whilst impressive, was really all about the ‘kill Jar Jar’ punchline!

But since Adywan created that we have had two films that show ‘ground level’ as the Death Star strikes. If we care enough to see random Hosnian characters pre-strike then it’s surely appropriate to see Bail Organa, who’s appeared in 3 SW films and is the adopted father of Leia. The destruction of Alderaan is a Leia scene, it’s all about her reaction and explicitly seeing her father Bail die would really personalise it.

If it could be done well I think it’s worth including. It would connect ANH even better to RO, and also I think it would deepen Leias character and commitment to the cause, even providing more context as to why she might be an ‘ice maiden’ in ESB and closed off to allowing herself to love Han.

Right at the end of AOTC there are a couple of seconds of footage of Bail on a balcony dropping his head and striking his fist on the rail in defeat.

It’s a sunset scene with red lighting and so it would be perfect to repurpose as the moment when he sees the apocalyptic destruction wave roll across Alderaan towards him. It also has the classic iconography of a King on their balcony surveying their Kingdom, so even first time viewers ought to be able to make the implied connection that this Royal-looking person is Princess Leia’s father.

PT:R is no longer happening so no harm to pinch a snippet of footage to repurpose. The dignified character meeting their doom like a man is a classic movie trope. Small moments like these can pack a big emotional impact.

This movie needs to stand on its own. We know the events of Rogue One happened. We don’t need to be reminded every 5 minutes.

The scene is different from the original cut seen in despecialized. When they added in the extra shots of slave 1, they moved the music forward in the scene, so the music cue appears at a slightly different point. I didn’t alter the music when it switches to Boba Fett in the cockpit. it’s as it appears in the Blu-ray.

Thats the exact shot i used in the deleted scene. But i was never going to add that scene into the movie. It was done just for fun and i won;t be adding anything like that in the HD version.

I hadn’t even clocked it was that same Bail moment, must have been too busy looking at Jar Jar!

I just rewatched your deleted scene and I have to say, for a bit of ‘fun’ that wasn’t intended for proper release, you did it really well!
