I took the LUT back out and tweaked the colors again to make it more similar to the rest of the film. I think I’m finally happy with it.

Sounds great! Of course, it sticks out at the moment as it’s supposed to but… I wonder if it should sound just a bit more “posh” (as in Hux accent)? So hard to try and explain via text, haha! “Weapon prIMed in thirTY seconDS”…
The voice in the recording is yours truly! To my ear, the accent is quite similar to the original recording, but something I would like to do differently is record from a greater distance from the mic so that I can speak more aggressively and loudly and maybe get that “poshness” that you mentioned. It might also sound more natural when integrated with the rest of the clip.
Also, is the less than stellar quality of the recording coming through or does it sound okay? I’ve only been able to listen to it on my phone since I’m at work.
Wow, that voice is really great. there is a bit of sync issue with it i think, but it is spot on as far as inflection and voice quality.

Going by TFA alone, I think the logical conclusion is that she is, at the very least, not related to any of the other important characters. All Han would have told Maz is just that she joined up with them and is wanting to stay on Jakku because of her family.

I agree with you. Still though, the only line that I feel was a “we’re hiding something” was Maz asking who’s the girl and the movie cutting away before Han could “reveal” anything.
(But I loved the payoff so I wouldn’t cut any of the lines 😄)

That voice seemed perfect to me. I feel that the little bit of lip synch problem is not big enough that someone who doesn’t know it was redub would notice.
I honestly wouldn’t know it was a re-recorded line to my ears unless I knew I was looking for it (and even then, it took me about three listens to catch was being altered). But there’s always room for improvement, and the room needed is a small gap imo!
The Rise of Failures
The voice sounds good, but my feedback would be that the word “recharged” sounds a little strange, almost like 'rich’arged instead of 'ree’charged, though that might just be me (someone with an Oxford English accent). I also think a bit more urgency would fit the scene better, it seems qute relaxed as is. Very nit-picky stuff, but I thought I’d offer any feedback I could. Definitely not much room for improvement though!
Creating more distance from the mic, making sure the recording syncs up even better with the video, and placing more emphasis on the “re” of recharged are all things I’ll do in the next recording!
To be honest, the original doesn’t sound very urgent and I tried to copy that, but there’s always room for improvement. I’ll just have to work within the limitations of syncing up with the video. Thanks for the feedback everyone!
And if people think the audio quality is good as it is, I’ll continue working with the equipment I have.
Thanks for taking the time to do another set of recordings, as I think that’s going to work well. We may just decide to let the others know not to bother!
I’d suggest delivering the line a few times so I can have a few options.
And V2.1 should be available as a large BR-compliant mkv with PCM audio (I’ll try to use ChainsawAsh’s method to make it work; worst case the lossless audio will be available separately), a 720p mp4, a DVD5, and a less than 1GB version for those who’d need it.
Did anyone ever get v2.0 to burn to a BD50 and work in a player? I wasn’t able to, either with the PCM audio or the AC3. Granted, I only tried it on a PS4, but I have no problems with my Despecialized discs which were burned using the same method…

I believe some of Hal’s prequel edits needed a couple of boxes checked in Tsmuxer in order to work on a PS4 (I don’t have it in front of me to check, but it’s been posted about a bunch on the forums). Without that, the video came out scrambled looking. I don’t recall if the audio worked.
Interesting, I’ll check that out and hopefully it’ll work once v2.1 is released (I only have one BD50 left and won’t be able to order more for at least 2 weeks).

I was able to with DVD fab 10 using my mac. I’ve played it successfully on my standalone blu ray player.

Here’s the best one, according to me, baked into the scene. It seems less fullbodied than the original line, so I wonder if a better recording setup would improve it. It doesn’t sound like it was recorded the same way as the rest of the movie. Good voice, but it sounds hollow when put in place.

And unfortunately, I cannot advise about authoring to disc. Compressor gives me BR streams and I use mkvtoolkit to mux.
I honestly feel like the first recording gels much better, but that’s just me.
