Yeah I mean I honestly don’t recommend people watch star wars unless they are watching it with me. I’m not gonna tell them to watch the awful blu Ray versions. And I’m also, unless they are particularly nerdy (not being used as an insult), not going to say “yeah watch it but here only watch this version I downloaded and burned for you”. I will sometimes if having a movie night at my house will watch it amd I just put on a custom “semi special” edition I cooked up myself and not say anything about it.

(I actually plan on sharing it publicly at some point because it has features no other version has in HD such as re rotosxoped lightsaber and blaster bolts courtesy of telecine7 also fixed the gamma to get rid of the ridiculously dark look and did a base color adjustment that isn’t too in depth or even close to being the theatrical colors but it gets rid of the magenta skin tone and basically just makes the 2011 timing more pleasant to look at)

I just figure it’s culturally iconic. It’s not just a film series; it actually has made a significant impact on the culture. I maybe could see not recommending the SEs to someone young enough not to have seen the OUT, but that’s a different case. It’s like “okay, where have you been all this time?”

dude, a generation is named after these films. This forum exists because of those movies, so do many others. They have a huge fan base. Then there is this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jedi_census_phenomenon . Maybe they are not just some movies.

This is a strawman argument. I didn’t say Star Wars is a requirement to fill a hole in peoples’ lives.

You are losing my point of thinking it odd, considering the cultural impact of the series, that many people have not, in the last 40 years, seen a single Star Wars movie even once, given the umpteen opportunities to do so and the vast cultural references to it.

I hate Christmas. I hate every single thing it stands for. I hate Santa and I hope he hurries up dies of the massive heart attack that’s been centuries overdue. I just got back from the store trying to buy food and it was full of disgusting people running around buying shit they don’t need to give as gifts to people they don’t like and probably don’t want any of this shit anyway. I can’t wait for this horrific, sickening, chaotic, nauseating, hypocritical, pure evil holiday to be out of my life for another year.
