I appreciate the update, especially the funeral pyre scene. Still no feedback on Victory-class star destroyers, though?

Thank you for the plan to fix the Fett flipped scenes! That bugs me quite a bit!

Also for the ending plan about the ghosts … I like it a lot!

Remove the new Ewok eyes

Too bad, it was a good BRD 2011 addition, it gave ewoks a creepier look. The only issue with that is it wasn’t made for all ewoks.

I thought the eyes were terrible. Especially the fake blinking they added. They went from teddy bears to Furbys. At least they could have made their actual eyelids blink instead of having the furby style toy eyelids.

This is where the Force Ghosts will appear and the film will end with Luke being alone (which in turn foreshadows TFA).

Interesting ! So I assume the “revisited is only a trilogy for itself” point of view does no longer apply if elements are made to link the OT:R with the new movies (then any “it’s from the PT so it’s not gonna be considered in OT:R” becomes quite irrelevant… so old Naboo fighters to join the Endor battle 😉).

The plan to finish ROTJ:R with Luke and the ghosts at the funeral pyre was always there prior to TFA even being announced. It’s just that, after seeing TFA, it does actually foreshadow whats to come. Revisited was always meant to stand on it own in that it wouldn’t follow official canon. Happily for me though, nothing i plan to do to the Revisited saga contradicts anything in the new films, so that’s just a happy accident. The prequels will also be erased from the saga now that i am no longer doing them. I just can’t bring myself to ever watch them again. The prequel references added to ANH:R will be gone for the HD version (The battle droid added into the sandcrawler scene was only added as in in-joke anyway. Left in a junk pile 😉 ). I no longer have to worry about fixing anything in the OT that contradicts those films. And, even if by some miracle i do decide to do them, i’ll fix the problems in those instead. So no biggie. But, for me, I’d like to start my viewing with Rogue One, followed by the OT, then the ST , as those films are far superior to the PT. Those are the only parts i would like to fit together now. Although you’d probably still be able to watch the prequels with Revisited because nothing i’m doing really contradicts those anyway ( plus i may still be adding the “you’re Mother once thought as you do” line instead of the original "Obi-Wan). That’s just my personal opinion of the PT and i appreciate that there are fans out there that like them, so i wouldn’t really want to make Revisited so you couldn’t watch the PT too if you wanted to.

Remove droid torture in Jabba’s Palace

Oh! This is a funny shot 😃

Ever since i first saw the movie in 1983, i have hated that scene. A gonk droid feeling pain? Seriously? Pretty much sums up the things wrong with that movie.

The way how the funeral pyre scene is played out, how and where are you going to put in the Force ghosts?

There will be no Victory Class Stardestroyers

Okay, no Victory Star Destroyers, but I’ve gotta reiterate that I think it’d be awesome to see an Interdictor or two in the fleet above Endor, since they’re trying to trap the Rebels and prevent them from escaping. What better way to do that than to remove their ability to go to hyperspace?

Doubtful anyone outside of the hard core EU SW fan would even know what they were, even after their cartoon spin off appearence. And, without adding a line to explain what they were, they would be a pointless addition, especially when you take into account that Ackbar wants to retreat but Lando convinces him to move the ships in closer to the destroyers. If they had Interdictors there then Ackbar would have known that they couldn’t really retreat. Take away their option of retreating by adding those , then it takes away the whole heroic “stay and fight” angle

It didn’t make much sense to have the Battle Droid in the junk pile anyway, because Tatooine was outside of the Trade Federation’s radar.

Very good counterpoint that I hadn’t considered. Alright, no Interdictors - check.

I’ve just updated the first post with some more planned changes

Nice list of changes! 😄

“Maybe remove most of the end celebration (all planet celebrations are going anyway). Have a small portion of the Ewok celebration which then leads to the funeral pyre scene. This is where the Force Ghsots will appear and the film will end with Luke being alone (which in turn foreshadows TFA).”

Do you plan to still show Luke reuniting with the rest of the group during the briefer Ewok celebration? If not, I think it would be quite sad not to see them all together again at the end, much like it was sad realising we’d never see them all together again in the ST with Han dieing in TFA.

It’s an interesting change to reorder those events and it will quite drastically change how you feel at the end of the OT. Originally you felt sad during the funeral pyre and then the end celebration lifts your spirits back up and finishes on a high note at the conclusion of the OT. With your version you will instead get the high note but during a much shorter celebration and then end on a sad scene, leading to a much darker conclusion in comparison. Personally it feels like the wrong way to go when looking at how it leaves you feeling at the end of the OT saga.

That’s how I feel about them as well. If the Han Solo standalone turns out alright and if they ever do that Kenobi film, they plus RO would be my PT.

I’m one of those fans who doesn’t mind the PT and appreciates them for what they are as movies. They’re not perfect, but they’re not soul-crushingly horrible.

One thing I would like to see, and I don’t know if this has been mentioned, was the alternate opening deleted scene that was featured in the 2011 Blu Ray, where Vader after arriving on the Death Star, tries to contact Luke, and Luke is building his lightsaber. Since seeing that for the first time I’ve always felt Lucas messed up by not including it.

Adywan has already confirmed that he will not be using deleted scenes.

Awesome! Changing to “Your mother once thought as you do” was something I was hoping for. I’m glad to hear it’s on the table. I actually even watched both Lion King And Coming to America, for no other reason than to see if I could catch James Earl Jones saying the words “Your Mother”-but had no luck.

Oh, thanks for the long reply ! Since I don’t hate any SW film (I, II, VII, R1: I don’t hate them, I just find them not very good but quite enjoyable thanks to competent fan-editing, so in my mind all the official Lucasfilm canon exists) I’m glad your Revisited Trilogy can be watched in a full “Saga Cycle” (and I wasn’t convinced by the addition of Battle of the heroes in ANH:R, so good thing you’re removing it from ANH:R-HD… the federation droid was a fun addition though, would have been nice to keep it 😃). Good idea for the “your mother” mention ! (don’t know if it can be done but it would fit better the PT - yeah I know it was the PT that was supposed to fit the OT… - without creating an obvious PT reference since Luke’s mother is mentioned a few minutes prior to this scene).

By the way I think your idea to finish the Trilogy is great; I never was very happy with the “teddy bear dancing” grand finale of all official cuts; a bittersweet feeling would indeed be more aligned with VII as well as ending ROTJ the way it was supposed to end when Kurtz was still around (Luke becoming a Obi-Wan ermit figure, Leia being called to new responsibilities towards her people, and so on) keeping Lucas from taking questionable decisions.

Just another voice to back up this ^.

While the PT isn’t as great as the rest of the saga, a lot of us here do consider it canon and part of the full Star Wars story. So even though it’s understandable that some want to ignore it, please at least don’t make any changes that contradict it!

Personally, anything that makes me feel like it’s all one world (rather than prequel world versus original world) such as the addition of a battle droid in the sandcrawler junk, or a K2 droid on a Star Destroyer bridge, are always welcome - but that’s more personal taste.

Bear in mind that one of the main reasons that people are part of this community is because they really want to enjoy the prequels - the first high-profile fan edit was Ep1 and the prequels are the most fanedited movies of all time. So there are a whole lot of people who really, really want to make the prequels part of their saga.

It sounds like you’re taking the balanced approach, and besides, you owe us nothing at all and we’ll be grateful for whatever you create, but I just wanted to throw one more voice in the ring.

Yeah, I always thought the main reason most of us were here was because we can’t get the unaltered original trilogy in acceptable quality through official channels.

But hey, what do I know, I only joined the site 13 years ago, I’m still learning the ropes. 😉
