Ah, cinemassacre. Come for the angry video Game nerd, stay for the James and Mike Monday’s.
I didn’t even realize the video was from this channel (because like always with this place I just clicked it to get the title of the video and perceive why it was posted) then just now my roku autoplayed it because I was watching their other stuff like I do very regularly.
Kind of a big confidence to be honest. Accidentally but organically led into an old video that just happened to be posted today.
I like Cinemassacre. I always forget about them while saying how I hate all youtube review channels. Them n’ Redletter.
James has been posting videos about various thoughts on obscure moments and facts from classic horror films and they’ve been really good little essays.

I’m tired of the Angry Video Game Nerd. It was amusing for a while, but then he moved from crass to offensive, and the whole angry nerd schtick has long since worn out its novelty. I like James’ more mellow stuff, but not the Nerd anymore.

While I’m not offended by it, I do think AVGN is tired, although the Polybius episode was great. I much prefer his movie insights these days.
I’ve gotten to where I like his more being himself stuff but I still enjoy the nerd. It’s not as good as it used to be but I will second that the recent polybius episode was pretty good. But I’ve been enjoying his horror movie analysis lately also.
It bugs my bones that Americans associate separatism with white supremacist ideals and slavery. I wholeheartedly believe that sooner rather than later this country will split into an increasing number of successor republics. I am certain that some of those, particularly the states that emerge in the Southeast, will be pretty much like apartheid states, even more so than the US is currently. However I would expect better of the states that arise in the North and the West.
Tl;dr, some Americans want to secede for non-shitty reasons.
Not even close to the right thread.

He’s not offensive, unless you’re offended by potty-humor, which in that case you should’ve been offended by him from the get-go.
I like the AVGN more when he’s not in character, although I like a lot of his older AVGN stuff. As for Nostalgia Critic, I don’t like his character or him. I’ve never understood the appeal of that guy.

You forget Super Mecha Death Christ 2000 B.C. Version 4.0 Beta.

I’d like to think Jesus Christ, who was supposed to be the epitomy of a perfect human being, would have thicker skinned than that. I mean we are made in God’s image, so would not God have a sense of humor also?
Also I think it’s evident Jesus was merely being used as a device for humor. I would pretty confidently say that there was no disrespect intended to him or his message, and thus I choose to believe that Christ himself would not be offended. He was a human who, as a human, would no doubt have a sense of humor. Not saying he would necessarily find it funny, but being all knowing and loving (not mocking) I doubt he would be sending somebody to hell over a lighthearted ribbing.
I would probably start to get annoyed at South Park if I were him though… But that’s probably it. Annoyed. We are supposed to be made in God’s image our we not? So wouldn’t God have a sense of humor? Possibly the most perfect sense of humor?
I’ve often wondered about this. If God and Jesus is perfect, and we got all of our good qualities from them, would that mean that God is the most hilarious thing you’ll ever encounter? And I mean no disrespect by that it’s a genuine thought.
I know this isn’t the thread for this but it was relevant to the discussion directly at hand.

Same. I like nothing about him.
It’s not often I encounter somebody who talks to me about Star Wars in real life. The man I met today has made me very grateful for this.
He began his lecture (based on us being on nodding terms and my often wearing Star Wars clothing of some kind) with the old “I hate Disney” routine but followed it up with something quite novel. He educated me on the fact that all of Disney’s recent output was just stolen from George Lucas!
The Force Awakens was a straight-up copy of the original film and all they did was swap a boy for a girl in the lead role. The whole plot of stealing the Death Star plans was taken directly from a game and they only changed one word in the title (he was referring to The Force Unleashed.) Somehow he’s mashed together TFA and Rogue One in his mind.
He also believes the next film is the final one. This he knows because it has the word “last” in the title.
He’s amazed more people haven’t figured this whole thing out. As for me, I’m just amazed.

I still glean enjoyment out of his older videos, but they guy has grown less and less entertaining over the years as his ego has grown. And why does he bother calling himself the Nostalgia Critic when at least half his reviews these days are for new movies? The guy should’ve stayed in retirement.

I’m amazed people like this exist in real life, I assumed they only spent time here.
I once was in a random conversation with a complete stranger where I mentioned I was a big Star Wars fan. He asked me how I felt about the fact that George Lucas wasn’t involved in the new movies anymore, which made me worry about what direction he was bringing this talk, but when I said that I felt like Lucas had his time and that now it was the next generation of filmmakers’ turn to tell their stories in the universe, he pleasantly surprised me by agreeing completely, which was nice.

I liked him pre-To Boldly Flee.

I didn’t say Jesus was offended. I said I was. Well, annoyed is a better word.
