Here’s the final version, color corrected and with sound effects throughout (there’s an update in the dialogue only version which occurs at the final shot of the deleted scene):

Did you need to color correct it further? I tried to match the color to the existing resistance base scenes. Your final version looks a bit too high contrast to me, with skin tones too bright and orange.

Here’s a comparison between my grading and reference frames from the untouched film.

To me my colors look fine, but I see the blue in the shadows could be toned down a little bit and it could be even less contrasted overall.

I tweaked my colors slightly to get even closer to the movie’s look, so this is my suggestion for a final color grade:

The first shot had too much blue in the shadows compared to the rest so I tried to make them all self-consistent, though perhaps not consistent with the rest of the base. it’s more ideal than reality on my part, but if Hal wants to make it consistent with the rest of the base that would be just fine. 😃

I will take a look and see what to do with these. I will be occupied today, going around eating pie and such, but should be able to give some attention to it tomorrow.
I believe all I would need after this is the opening crawl and the Star Destroyer over Maz’s Castle sequence. 😄

Here’s how the scene looks once it’s fully baked into the rest of my timeline. I recreated the wipes to and from the ships flying by because I slightly retimed the fade of the music to match, and so I could use the original sound effects of the ships which would be jarring to lose. I think NeverarGreat’s recoloring of the deleted scene itself blends more smoothly into the rest of the film, so I’ve used that.
I am certain these are issues with the source material itself, but Leia’s line about taking action against the First Order sounds as if it were cobbled together. And it sounds like she is doing a Rick belch as she says the word “insane.” I don’t remember noticing these before, though I probably haven’t done such a close examination. Not big deals.

I altered the audio of ‘this First Order’ to make it sound like ‘the First Order’, since the original sounded like she couldn’t decide which word to go with.

Also, I don’t know if this is a Vimeo compression thing or not, but the scene looks a lot more blue than Ridley’s grade: http://www.framecompare.com/image-compare/screenshotcomparison/0B1NNN8U

Sir Ridley, is it possible to upload a version without color correction? I’d like to take a crack at matching it more closely to the other scenes. 😛

Thank you! Might you also supply the direct audio from the deleted scene, unprocessed? I only own the original BluRay, not the one with all the good stuff on it. Appreciated.

Thanks very much. I’m giving the SKB explosion some fresh eyes, and had the obvious (in retrospect) idea to sub the stereo OST in for your mono music track, helping that sequence from feeling un-dynamic.

I see(well really hear) what you mean about the taking action sounds did feel cobbled together. There is a slight off-ness to it.

Personally the belch isn’t bad at all. 😉. I don’t think that stands out at all compared to the rest of her lines, it fits with the way she talks.

You are all awesome for working on this. I can’t wait to see it all done. My buds are doing a Return of the Jedi & Force Awakens viewing before the new movie comes out. Hopefully I could show them this version if it gets done! (Obviously no rush or pressure, I’d rather wait for more polish then “rushed” out. 😃)

The deleted scenes need consistent room tone. This is especially necessary in the transition between the two scenes and in the fabricated Kor Sella reaction moments.

Otherwise looking good.

It sounds like it is pretty smooth, until Leia says “…it.” It hits pretty abrutly hard. The music transitions nicely to the next scene and the ambient noise. But man, “it” hits hard.

I really don’t mind the “this/the” thing that much. I agree the cut after “it” is pretty hard, I’d extend and fade that as much as possible.

The ambience helps, the only thing with that that’s still bothering me is the “Or maybe they do” line, when the audio for that cuts in it’s a little abrupt, I’d fade it in as much as possible (seems like there should be a little bit of space before she actually starts talking).

The other thing too that I noticed is it seems like the dialogue in the deleted scenes might be louder than in the rest of the film, I’d just check the levels on that to make sure it matches.

With the caveat that I’m once again watching these clips with my phone’s speaker, I think that one looks and sounds pretty much perfect! 😄

I’m not super sold on the two wipes so close together thing, I think a hard cut would work fine from the space shot to the shot on the surface, but I think you said there was a reason behind that and I don’t think it’s weird enough to totally take me out of the movie. If you can find a way to avoid the second wipe that’d be awesome, but I think I can get used to it pretty quickly if you can’t.

Huge improvement, seriously!
