That is also assuming the people yelling “Boycott the NFL” actually boycotted the NFL.

I really think the NFL changing their policy was just a business decision and not in fear of action by the government. If they made that decision because the alternative was unpopular, that’s different from fearing a tweet from Trump.

I’m sure those folks will watch the Super Bowl, but keep quiet about it. 😉

The thing is Trump will claim credit for the NFL changing policy and the usual suspects will believe it.

This oughta make everyone feel a little better. The country is in good hands!

“I HATE EVERYONE IN THE WHITE HOUSE!”: TRUMP SEETHES AS ADVISERS FEAR THE PRESIDENT IS “UNRAVELING”

In recent days, I’ve spoken with a half dozen prominent Republicans and Trump advisers, and they all describe a White House in crisis as advisers struggle to contain a president that seems to be increasingly unfocused and consumed by dark moods.

At first it sounded like hyperbole, the escalation of a Twitter war. But now it’s clear that Bob Corker’s remarkable New York Times interview—in which the Republican senator described the White House as “adult day care” and warned Trump could start World War III—was an inflection point in the Trump presidency. It brought into the open what several people close to the president have recently told me in private: that Trump is “unstable,” “losing a step,” and “unraveling.”

Man, thank God we found out about those emails and didn’t elect Hillary Clinton.

25th Amendment Section 4 said:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

Remind me again why Mike Pence would make a horrible President?

He hates threads about movies.

He also hates women.

Gays too, IIRC.

It’s that whole evil and competent vs evil and incompetent conundrum again. I used to think evil and competent was worse, but…

Well, he’s not as much of loose canon, but he’s also much more competent… which means he might be able to do more bad.

Anyway,

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

what about Paul Ryan?

Given that Trump is willing to stand for all of the socially conservative shit that Pence genuinely believes in, I’d say he’d be better because at least he would know enough not to fuck around with our nuclear arsenal. I think Trump probably knows enough not to do that either, but I’d rather not risk it. Paul Ryan would be much better than either.

I wouldn’t want to be alone in a compartment on the Orient Express with him. Let’s leave it at that. 😉

The Trump administration has been plenty (but not entirely) incompetent. Pence’s administration could easily be more effective, therefore more dangerous.

Paul Ryan only cares about cutting taxes for the wealthy, which I guess is (very low bar) not as bad on a relative scale.

If you’re looking for how far down the impeachment chain you have to go to reach someone who’s not actually neck deep in some sort of corruption or another, you’re probably looking at Orrin Hatch. I loathe him, but he’s more-or-less clean.

Hey, if Trump doesn’t run/resigns/is impeached in 2020, either Paul Ryan or Mike Pence could become president!

Right now, I am looking for someone who won’t get us in a nuclear war with N.Korean and perhaps China.

I think that Pence is as far to the alt-right as a politician can possibly be. He would likely bring a Christian fundamentalism to the white house, so if you want the Bible to be the law of the land, he’s your man. I think he’s much more to the right than Trump, and even further to the right than Palin. However, I don’t see him getting us into a war with North Korea. So at this point, Trump is such a catastrophe that even as a liberal I’d probably prefer Pence. If Trump manages to avoid WW3, I’d probably prefer Trump just because he won’t actually be able to do anything. But that’s an awfully risky bet to take. It’s hard to imagine anything worse than taking a hydrogen bomb up the backside.

Right about now, there’s your Republican party for ya.

I don’t think that necessarily makes him alt-right, though. He’s definitely very far right, and a more than a bit of a theocrat, but I can’t recall him doing or saying anything that makes me think he’s a white nationalist, neo-Nazi, skinhead, Klansman etc. I think the closest you could get, and it seems like a bit of a stretch to me, is him not condemning the travel ban.

He’s too old to be a part of the alt-right. The alt-right is a bunch of 4chan trolls that love memes and Nazis.
