Probably more likely you just need to take a break. I went years without watching a star wars movie. Didn’t really miss it. But now coming back and suddenly ANH and ESB suddenly have that magic back again.

I don’t associate Star Wars with pleasant things anymore. I’m sorry that I feel that way. Oh wait, no I’m not. I think it’s a great film but I just can’t take it seriously anymore.

Like Duracell you probably need to not watch it for a few years. Then watch ANH on the biggest screen you can get access to. After not seeing it for years, watching it on a projector was pure magic and I felt totally drawn in and mystified like I was watching it for the first time.

Yeah that’s probably true. I still think they’re great I just don’t feel in to them if you know what I mean.

Sounds like the exact situation a year or two hiatus would solve. For years I continued to post here in off topic without even giving a shit about star wars

Sometimes I wonder if I’m even a Star Wars fan anymore.

Elements from the OT which continue to resonate with me:

  • The visuals.
  • The main protagonists.
  • Luke’s story.
  • The music.

Otherwise, I feel I’ve outgrown it all and probably did years ago. A series about white hat heroes battling black hat villains in a swashbuckling setting just doesn’t hold enduring appeal to someone who constantly wishes in their heart of hearts that Ingmar Bergman had created the films instead.

I feel the exact same way. I think the new Disney marketing blitz doesn’t help. I find it hard now to even think of Star Wars films as real movies because Star Wars as a brand is just everywhere. I think of Star Wars like I think of Sprite or Windex. Just a product.

Good…to be honest I feel that star wars will be remembered while the shit you like will be forgotten much like you

You’re really married to that phrase aren’t you?

I’m not warning you again. Learn some manners or next time it’s a temp ban.

I know. Not capitalizing Star Wars is pretty awful. It’s sad how he just has no respect for such a classic film.

What the fuck is your problem? He wasn’t insulting anything or anybody. If anything all he was saying was he was burned out on star wars, he didn’t even say anything bad about it. And I don’t recall him saying he liked you either.

This is how incidents at the Cantina start. 😉

Sorry, I just got a little fired up. I don’t see how what mfm said could possibly be interpreted as inflammatory and yet here he was being attacked for it by no reason by some guy as if he’d insulted his grandma’s toupee or something.

I think our Lord Tobias lacks confidence in his own convictions, so he makes knee-jerk ad hominem attacks when he feels they’re being threatened.

You’re good. I was commenting on the fact you indirectly quoted the ugly chap who accosts Luke in the Cantina.

Oh, right. I actually meant something far meaner by that though… Lol. (He said “the shit” mfm liked)

TNT has been running the OT and PT all week long. Late at night too. Are they burning them off before they lose the broadcast rights or something?

I don’t know. I just know I watched Empire while my family visited some friends of ours. I’m not sure if it was their TV or the Broadcast, but they somehow made it look like a Soap Opera, and the Star Destroyers and Yoda seemed a little too blatantly like props, rather than people and ships.

The Soap Opera effect Strikes Back!

I had noticed they had frame interpolation months before, but I don’t want to say that was it, as it seemed like the SSD (for example) actually felt like I was looking at a model, and I don’t know if interpolation alone can do that.

EDIT: Though that source does make me curious as to if TVs also have methods of reducing Judder without reducing the motion blur, as the motion blur is I think what really made it stand out in my head.

EDIT 2: Though what I may be calling blurring may not be what TV hardware calls blurring.

A shame most tv’s make it bloody hard to turn that damn thing off. It’s buried pretty deep in the submenus on my Samsung.
