Well the characters are the only thing I like from the show. I just don’t like the stories they’ve done last year(s). They’re even more childish than the 80’s Droids and Ewoks cartoons

Speaking as a fan of those 80s series, that is the biggest load of codswallop I’ve ever heard.
Might’ve mentioned but can’t search for own posts, maybe I can on this weirdly coded forum, but:
Should’ve been 2:35:1/2.4:1 i.e. OG OOT & The Clone Wars, don’t mind the Ralph McQuarrie inspiration for character and other designs, more multi-part episodes, less aimed to the kiddos, and I dunno what else.
Would’ve thought they might’ve had at least 6 or more seasons but they chickened out at 4.

Yep, the same format used for the trilogies and TCW would have been perfect.

Now that’s something I can agree with you on! 😉
Yes, that would be great. Thing is, if I visit my parents and we watch a 2.35:1 Blu-ray, my mother still asks if we can get rid of those annoying black bars (“I thought HDTVs were already wide screen”). Can you imagine kids and their cartoons having this “problem”?
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.

OAR or nothing.
TCW was broadcast 16:9.

You’re in the U.S. right, Dom? That’s interesting, as I watched it in 2.35 when it was broadcast on Sky in the U.K. I remember the aspect ratio as it was the first thing I noticed!
I wonder which other parts of the world got differing aspect ratios?

Oh no question. Few AV things irk me more than watching movies on cable and knowing the cinematography was likely ruined by a shitty crop job.

TCW was always “shot” for 16:9, I’m sure. Technically, if Cartoon Network counts as first release, 16:9 is the OAR. 😉

TCW was 2.35:1/2.4:1. Mebbe you’re thinking of Clone Wars?
Yeah, TCW was native 2.35:1 and then cropped for 16:9 for American broadcast.

Maybe the Blu-rays were OAR then. I never watched TCW when broadcast, borrowed the BDs from a friend (all 6 seasons), and watched the series in suggested Chronologial Story Order. Didn’t watch any of the bonus.
Wonder how the BDs for REBELS looks. Dunno which seasons OG Netflix Disc has.
Clone Wars show was 16:9.
The Clone Wars was 2:35:1 but cropped to 16:9 for American Television Broadcasts, home media release is 2:35:1.
Rebels has always been 16:9 for all broadcasts and home media releases.
The Star Wars Saga:
I · II · III · IV · V · VI · VII · VIII · IX | Rogue One · Solo
What was first just a dream has become a frightening reality…
I’m saying that they probably designed the animation to fit into the 16:9 frame since it was primarily distributed in that format (action safe areas, etc). I’m sure there’s some bonus feature that refutes that. I really just wanted to make the Cartoon Network OAR joke.

The first two episodes of season 4 were awesome as expected. I’m going to be sad when this show ends!

They didn’t chicken out. They planned it this way from the start.

I actually successfully guessed the title of the show, but I was more concerned with the idea of a show set between ANH and TESB starring the OT characters. It’s a shame that’s not what we got. Marvel tackled that subject instead. If you’re gonna give us new characters, though, at least make them interesting. Ezra is generic AF, Sabine didn’t get proper development until season 3, and Zeb just feels unnecessary (although I guess it’s worth noting I find him slightly more endearing than most characters of his archetype), and instead, we coulda had Rex from the start. It’s kinda weird they didn’t make Ahsoka part of the main cast, as she could have easily filled Kanan’s place as the young Jedi’s master. That said, Kanan and Hera are pretty good characters.
Most of the character problems are directly the result of kids show
Sabine not getting killed by Vader(in that cool sudden way)
Ezra not joining the dark side(thus making his character interesting).
Rebels is extremely well written and the characters are very well developed. I wish the prequels were half as good.

Ezra was screwed either way. If goes dark, he’s too much like Anakin, but if he stays with the light, he’s too much like Luke. Honestly, he’s just a very bland character. Turning him to the dark side wouldn’t change that. He might have been a bit more memorable if they’d made him an alien like Ahsoka, but they couldn’t even do that. Of course, it wouldn’t fix the problem, but it would have been nice.

It’s back!
Pretty good premiere. Weak in a few places, and honestly could have been a longer arc because it felt a but rushed, but it’s understandable because this is the last season and they have stuff they need to get to.
I’m just glad that Dave has continued to do the Mandalorians justice and we’re getting the arc for them I wanted since The Clone Wars.
Keep Circulating the Tapes.
END OF LINE
(It hasn’t happened yet)
are they going to do two episodes every monday? are they trying to finish up before The Last Jedi comes out?
Finally started the new season and oh boy, more Mandalorians. God, I hope this frontloading means we’ll get a break from them for a while. They’re just. So. Boring. Blah blah honor blah blah tradition blah.
