I will not tolerate people complaining about Muppets in Jabba’s Palace. Muppets are awesome.

End of line.

Agreed Muppets beat cgi hands down

Why does CGI keep coming up?
Most of the background creatures in Jabba’s look terrible. It’s just a fact.
-THIS DOES NOT MEAN I WANT THEM REPLACED BY CGI CARTOONS-

Why not? Do you think the action shots in Marvel films for example would have looked better if Iron Man, Spider-Man, Rocket and Hulk were puppets rather than CGI cartoons?

There’s a difference between action shots and background shots.

I think there’s a good mix of both that make the aliens seem more real. It should be a live action muppet, with CG facial movements, to really get a realistic feel, because you’ll have something to work with, not just a stand-in or green stick. You can actually see what you’re looking at and where to stare when acting with it. If it’s a background character, you can either do CG or a live action muppet. I prefer the muppet, because you get a realistic shadow cast from the muppet or an actor in a suit. That’s what they did for Simon Pegg in TFA.

“This can’t be; Artoo, you’re playing the wrong message!”

“Hmmm, I wish I had your confidence.”

Clearly Threepio wasn’t in on the plan. I assume that Luke and Artoo would have counted on Threepio just being his usual self.

That’s one of the things that I’d like Ady to consider changing, what many people have referred to as the “Flanderization” of C-3PO. While Threepio is certainly a worrywart, that personality trait has become a caricature in ROTJ. In ANH, Threepio successfully bluffed past Stormtroopers on the Death Star and was decisive in choosing when to leave hiding and try to board the Falcon. In ROTJ the caricature version of Threepio has been left out of the plan and (because of his ignorance) could easily work against it at any moment.

I would like to see any edits made that could instead have him included in the plan.

Or as I said in another thread, if that doesn’t get traction then I wonder if it would be possible to replace his line “Hmm, I wish I had your confidence” with something else, like “What do you mean it’s part of the plan?”.

Between Droids, the PT, Clone Wars, video games, and Rebels, surely Anthony Daniels has done enough voice work as Threepio to cobble together a single line that sounds natural.

Why not both?

Have the Emperor simply say ‘An entire legion awaits them’, and also beef up the battle so it looks like a legion of Stormtroopers.

His over confidence is his weakness, Palpatine would not be able to resist boasting.

Yes, exactly.
Then again, Trimbo, if you’re sayin’ that you can whip up 3D CGI models that look Marvel movie quality, by all means contribute your talents!

Clearly the only solution that will satisfy anyone is for adywan to go discover alien life and cast it in his movie.

Dennis Rodman is still alive, it could work!

I’m almost positive you’re wrong. Toy’s aren’t gonna look any better.
Most of the sillier designs can be cut altogether and the decent to good ones can be enhanced like the cantina/dagobah creatures to make em even better.
I have faith that Ady can make even the Blue Elephant look good. I’ve got total faith in his skills. What worries me is all the people who don’t see anything wrong with all the horribly silly looking puppets… But Ady has said that he sees this as a problem as well, so no worries about them getting fixed up I guess.

I can’t remember where I read this but adywan had said he was planning to use toy models or something like that for some of the Jabba’s Palace creature’s, like the Gamorreans.

Am I wrong about this?

I don’t recall anything like this. He’s modifying a toy of the Falcon for some matte work, but nothing about creatures.

As doubleofive said, he will be using some toy ships for the hanger scenes. He did say he will need to build some A-Wings from scratch.

It was something to do about changing or manipulating their movements.

Are you still taking requests?, because I’m trying to integrate camouflaged stormtroopers in the Battle of Endor, as I feel they would know better than to dress in white for a fight in a forest.

They’re not there to blend in, they’re there to intimidate.

This camouflaged stormtroopers idea made me think, and I realized:
Prepare for what fight?
I would assume they never imagined in their worst nightmare that they have to actually fight those creatures. It’s like no SAS or any elite force on earth would bother to use camouflage while “fighting” monkeys in the jungle, using flamethrowers and machine guns. It would be more like exterminating, not figthing.

One would think one small rebel group is no match for all of them with some AT-AT and AT-ST and speederbikes on their side.
And they were hidden as long they wanted to be hidden. Rebels never saw them. Everything went as expected, Rebels were easily captured.
No fighting.

Yeah, I don’t see any need for camouflage either. The Stormtroopers are in white armor all through the OT. The TIEs don’t have any shields. The Empire isn’t too concerned about their own casualties. They win by numbers and intimidation.

The Empire is essentially the Zerg.

I have no position on this particular issue, but “if it can be done why not” doesn’t strike me as terribly compelling. It’s exactly the sort of thing that Lucas would say to himself.

Depends on whether or not the new camouflage trooper would have been advantageous in the merchandizing revenue department. I assume the tooling costs to repaint Stormtroopers mitigated the need to do anything more than create scout troopers.

I find your lack of faith…disturbing

I think idea of camouflage troopers goes against the motif of the Empire being the arrogant, out-of-place invaders.

I’d rather keep the existing colour scheme of Imperials as white/black/gray and the Rebels and Ewoks as “organic” greens and browns.

(Yes I know, I’ve been listening to Lucas commentaries WAY too much)

They told me they’d fixed it!

The Galactic Empire has many parallels to both the Roman Empire and the British Empire. The Romans wore red capes, the British wore red coats. They were there to be seen and project power, as are the Stormtroopers.

I agree.
Why “fix” something that is actually good.
And don’t “fix” something just to do something, just to make it different.

Camouflage for the droids makes sense. The rebels camouflage themselves and then bring a gold reflective fusspot with lamps for eyes.
