I don’t think the NFL hires these guys based on their IQ. 😉

I should buy a Jane Fonda poster.
No you shouldn’t.

Fondaphobe.

That was perfection.
Well, we visited my grandma for her Birthday, and came home with a bunch of tools from my late grandfather.
I got a second monitor for my rig, but I’m pretty sure the colour calibration is completely out of whack.
METV’s Super Sci-Fi Saturday Night followed by Red Eye Sci-Fi are the best blocks of tv on tv right now. How have I spent this much of my life without seeing Land of the Giants?
Also, per a conversation from many months ago, METV doesn’t edit shows to make more ad time. They do a slight speedup that shaves about 12 seconds from the overall runtime (nothing compared to TBS’ speedup and credit overlapping that cuts about 5 to 8 minuets!).
JEDIT- I wonder if this is different in different areas. Some of the METV bumps are very local, so I know there’s gotta be some regional differences…
METV
I can’t help but see a typo for “MTV.”
I know in my area at least, METV screws around with aspect ratios by zooming and cropping. Otherwise I’d probably watch stuff on there a lot more often.
.
Hmm… Here the aspect ratio seems to match the show being shown. It changes during ads so that they can be shown in HD I guess.
That wouldn’t really bother me much though. I’m already watchin’ on TV with ads. If my dvds were in the wrong aspect and had ads, that would bug me. 😉
All the secondary networks here mess with aspect ratios and resolutions.
When I still watched regular TV, I got only one channel which aired episodes of TOS. All episodes were cropped/stretched to 16:9, with Chinese/Japanese subtitles appearing every time a sign showed up on-screen (and this was a regular English-language channel).
Stations can be weird.
I want to buy Predator on blu ray but I’m confused. There’s three versions I can see: Predator - standard release, Predator - ultimate hunters edition, and Predator 3D. Apparently two of the releases suffer from superwaxy dnr and one doesn’t but since Amazon combine all their reviews it’s not easy to figure out which is the unwaxy one.
Could anybody here help me figure this out? Is there even a decent quality release or are they all ugly mothers?
The Ultimate Hunter is the waxy one. I didn’t even know there was a 3D release, so the ‘good one’ is the standard.
There was fuss over the standard version not looking ‘hi-def enough’ and that’s what created the super DNRed Ultimate Hunter edition. The standard isn’t much better than the DVD.
So, really, they’re all ugly mothers.
JEDIT- just googled ‘Predator 3D bluray’ for a little info, and this is the first thing I saw, before even clicking the blu-ray.com link:
Predator 3D Blu-ray features poor video and great audio
So I’d stick with the standard.
The 2009 release is what you want. It’s bare bones and MPEG 2, but no DNR.

Thanks guys! It’s a shame when they did the 3D conversion they didn’t take the chance to get things balanced up properly. At least I know which is the least offensive edition now!
LOL! I want a cover that actually says Least Offensive Edition now! That could cover so many discs.
