Movies generally considered "bad" that you like. — Page 10

Never heard of it.

I’m currently watching Left Behind with Nic Cage and Lea Thompson (!). I will report once I’m done, but I don’t think anything recently has made me feel as old as seeing Lea Thompson play the mom.

She played a mom thirty years ago!

I was so young when I first saw the BTF movies that I didn’t realize the parents’ older and younger versions were played by the same actors, then after I rewatched them when I was nine or ten I noticed and felt like a total fool.

I just realised that I listed Man of Steel as a movie that I liked in the first post. Man, past-me had no clue. Suffice to say, I do not think that way anymore.

Left Behind (2014)

I was hoping for so bad it’s good, I got a fairly standard meh minus / suck plus movie. It really felt like it was made-for-TV.

C- out of 10.

The Matrix Revolutions

Perfect ending, impressive action scenes, wagnerian music, intelligent symbolism. Even better than the first one. Only Reloaded is kinda mediocre (the narrative is great but it takes too long to get to the Architect, the most important scene of the trilogy).

This post is even hilariouser in light of his 0/10 rating for R1.

And just to stay on topic, I’d like to add that I loved The Blue Lagoon with Brooke Shields. I have absolutely no idea why critics panned it; it’s a beautiful film.

Man with the Golden Gun and The World is Not Enough. I think the latter is a genuinely great film. I don’t get why it got such mixed reviews.

By the same token, Tomorrow Never Dies for me. Also Licence to Kill, but I adore Dalton’s Bond, so I’m biased on that front. (The Living Daylights isn’t widely considered bad, is it? I hope not…)

I don’t think either Dalton is considered bad. I also love Tomorrow Never Dies. The only Brosnan one I don’t enjoy is Die Another Day.

Eh, I haven’t seen much (if any) love for Licence to Kill. I’d say that one’s pretty widely regarded as bad, or at least a misstep.

I like 2010: The Year We Make Contact.
I’m not particularly fond of the score though, it isn’t bad, just mostly forgettable. I would’ve preferred if they stuck with using classic music as the score, with a bit of Blaster Beam here and there.

I think it’s been reappraised in some circles as we’ve had grittier 007 outings since then. And aside from the opening of Diamonds Are Forever it’s the only time we’ve seen Bond truly going rogue.

Diamonds wasn’t even explicitly rogue I don’t think.

Van Helsing.

Feck off I like the atmosphere.

They kept some continuity with the ending of OHMMSS. He was out for revenge on Blofeld, period. It wasn’t an explicit mission. M lightly chastised him about getting back to work after Blofeld’s apparent demise, but otherwise let it slide.
This was a bit nasty, even for Sean’s Bond.

It’s goofy at times but lot of fun. I bought it on HD DVD even. And probably better than Universal’s recent attempts at a monster franchise. I still don’t get how being a vampire allows you to walk up walls though.

“Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me” I love this film.

I’m not super familiar with all the Bond movies, but I loved License to Kill.
Usually when I’ve mentioned this, the Bond fans get huffy, but not on this site. I mentioned it in the Bond thread and kinda expected to be throwing a bomb into the tread, but surprisingly I found that I’m not alone!
