It’s a real shame about PT:R. These were the revisited projects I was most looking forward to. They are even more broken than Jedi. Hopefully someone else will take up the mantle. There is good them, I have felt it 😊 even if Rouge One was part3 of a PT:R. So much technical talent and genuine affection from people who worked on those Star Wars misshapes. It’s a shame if they stayed as they are.

Get Dave Prowse & reshoot the end of RotJ with HIM! Right the original wrong. Shaw yeah fine, better than nothing but Dave earned that reveal big time.

I think that’s already done by a spanish fans, i’ve seen this excellente documentary about refilming all the scenes with D.Prowse in person : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2949296/
it’s on netflix btw.
if ady can be in touch with these guys, maybe they’ll share this footage.

I would like to have a visible shield for the deathstar where, on the first approach of the rebels, ships are shattering! For example, in Rogue One, on Scraif by the Planetshield

The fleet of the rebels, similar to jump from the hyperspace as in Rogue One, with Woww effect.
a ship, and another ship…

I miss more camera travels, from the cockpit view of a hunter, in the later fight course, one would like to ride as a spectator like a roller coaster ride. Comes good on a 60inch TV

More emotions, like, I’m hit, I can not, No, Argghh. I have a Problem, my Engines fail…
Weaving the hunters, with impact on the ships, with rubble.

More ships, especially an interdictor cruiser, much more details, ships break apart, debris drifting, more flak fire.
Empire Soldiers sitting on guns, similar to Ep.3
Larger reactorroom…there he is
Explosion of deathstar, into single pieces, huge chunks break out, not just a bang, break up with explosion

Firstly, congratulations and thank you for ESB:R. It’s a stellar achievement and I genuinely believe in years to come, it will increasingly be considered the definitive version of Empire, not just by those of us that have already seen it, but by vast numbers of Star Wars fans around the world who have yet to enjoy its delights. Once they watch it, they’ll become converts 😃

Regarding ROTJ:R, I’m delighted (but not surprised) to hear that the execrable ‘Jedi Rocks’ is going. You didn’t say, but I am assuming and hoping that ‘Lapti Nek’ will be restored?

As for new change suggestions, I’m sure I’ll think of some (almost all of which you will already have thought of yourself, no doubt!), so for now I will content myself by hoping that you find a way of unflipping / re-filming the Boba Fett scenes in Jabba’s Palace where his antenna is suddenly on the wrong side of his helmet due to flipping the shot. It’s always bugged me and takes me right out of the film.

I’m aware of Ady’s plans for Boba Fett, but I will state my preference for him not being in the movie at all, then move on.

Been following and supporting you when I can via Facebook, but have joined this forum to follow your progress and put my two-penuth in(!)

'excited to hear you’ve ‘broken ground’ on the last part of your journey…'agree 100% about the prequels…'best left well alone!
not sure about everything you’ve mentioned in your list of proposed changes for ROTJ:R ('but then I thought ESB was perfect until ESB:R made it even BETTER…'however I actually quite like the SE Sarlac and the additions in Jabba’s Palace…😱)
so my suggestions/thoughts:

  1. 'my main niggle with ROTJ (apart from the ‘slapstick’ Ewoks!) 'has always been Boba Fett’s ‘comedy death’… the whole thing just doesn’t feel like a good ‘end’ for such a popular and supposedly deadly character…(?)

  2. 'if you could fix the continuity problems with Luke’s Lightsaber (hero/v2/stunt) that’d be amazing (since this will be complete well after SW:TLJ perhaps tying into whichever version that movie settles on?!)

  3. Make the battle of Endor as mad and crazy as possible, love the suggestion of an ROTS-style tracking ‘one-shot’ on the Millennium Falcon plowing through the melee ,but maybe add an few U-Wings?..and as this will be (presumably) be completed after the end of Star Wars Rebels perhaps another Ghost cameo also? (especially as Rex is already on the planet with Han’s team!😉) similarly add every variation of TIE and Star Destroyer as seen throughout the movies, anthologies and TV series…nothing ‘in your face’ just enough to give us a little thrill whilst tying the whole universe together…(?)

  4. 'not sure if this is even ‘fixable’ but it has ALWAYS bothered me:
    in ANH Threepio says he’s
"just a translator, and not very good at telling stories…'or at least at making them interesting…"
yet in ROTJ he regales the Ewok village with stories of our heroes adventures to date-with sound effects and everything! did he get a 'storyteller upgrade?? 'As I said I’ve not a clue how you’d fix this but it’s always stuck out as a huge contradiction…(?)

  5. love the idea of the shuttle Tydirium being changed to the Rogue One or perhaps ANH:SE version …also agree with other comments that maybe for the Emperor the same style as Krennic’s shuttle would be good?

I hope I can contribute again at some point in a more concrete way, once again I love ESB:R and the fact you’ve made a perfect movie better! I look forward to seeing you perform the same magic again

“People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect-but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it’s more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey…stuff.”

Ah, that has always been my favourite moment in ROTJ! I read that scene as deliberately harkening back to Threepio’s line in ANH. This reference serves to illustrate just how much the droid has experienced since ANH - far beyond typical protocol! - and at the same time mythologises our heroes; cementing their exploits in legend. Witnessing the Ewoks rapt, enthralled by Threepio’s tale, reinforces the exceptional journey of our heroes; and this makes plausible Rey’s regard of Luke Skywalker as “myth”, in The Force Awakens.

I love that storytelling part too. It’s brilliant.
And to be honest Threepio was lying about virtually everything to Luke and his uncle in ANH, except maybe that he speeks Bocce, that the oil bath feels good, and that little doid can cause a lot trouble.
So I guess no fix needed here.

There is nothing plausible in TFA. That is a mess.

ow,always enjoyed the scene…it’s just such a total contradiction to the one in ANH…'like the TFA myth idea…hadn’t thought of that! 👍

On the other hand, he pretends that he doesn’t know who the Princess is in ANH. Quite a little liar when he has to !

Like Jani-wan already said !

I would love to see the Moff Jerjerrod subplot restored! I also hope that you make Madine the captain of one of the Mon Cal’s that get hit by the Death Star, as discussed in a different ROTJ thread.

Ady, can or will you change ROTJ Mon Mothma to the Prequel/Rogue One actress Genevieve O’Reilly. I wish Lucasfilm or Ady would fix this. I mean, I know she’s wearing the same outfit, and the guy tells you who she is, but for continuity, it would look better. I wish they would film those scenes with her, instead of Caroline Blakiston, don’t get me wrong, she did an amazing job, but the new actress is in Rogue One and that’s only 4 years from ROTJ.

As far as Anakin’s force ghost, why not start out as Sebastian Shaw, he looks over to Ben, that’s where he changes to Hayden’s Anakin, as he turns to look back at Luke.

Keep the Lapti Nek and Yub Nub songs. The victory celebration scenes, remove Jar Jar “Weesa Free!”

I agree with Snooker, restore the Moff Jerjerrod subplot. You need this, as it takes this story into a more serious tone, instead of what it was. It reminds me of Tarkin and Leia, their performances made it feel her planet was about to be destroyed. It’s a sense of realism.

I wish you could add the infamous Sandstorm scene, but I understand it just doesn’t belong.

I like this idea. Jambe Davdar included a supposed original but unused sound effect on Returning to Jedi and his own special effects of the ships crashing into the shield.

I hope for the inclusion of several deleted scenes that I think would add dramatic tension or character development: Luke building his lightsaber; colorized pilots; the Falcon gunners; and perhaps most importantly, Jerjerrod’s conflict. I feel this could have truly made the climax more powerful.

I have several ideas, but I hesitate to overwhelm Ady. As many will recall, I started a thread for a collaborative edit long ago. It was a pipe dream to be sure, but I feel there were many good ideas that could only be implemented by someone like Adywan. My ROTJ rough workprint is pretty crappy but I feel it showcased some ideas well enough, including/especially Jerjerrod’s conflict.

I thought this made for a truly brilliant way to justify Fett’s presence in the film and tie the first act with the rest better.

I know for a fact that you can hodgepodge “What is it… Bounty Hunter” from already existing audio, but do we have something similar to “See to it that he remains there”?

I’d like to suggest completely removing the Leia and Wicket scene. Add a bit of tension wondering where she is, and the Ewoks seem more of a threat if you haven’t seen one nibbling snacks from a stranger and frightened of helmets.

Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan
6-9: Hal9000

No. Changing any character to match a different portrayal is a bad idea. Especially when the original performance is good and memorable and the other is from films I don’t care about.

Oh god, no!

Yeah, Robot Chicken did the Sebastian turning into Hayden thing already.

That clip does remind me that the some bloodied Imperial armor lying around the Ewok village would be so wizard! 😉

I’m glad you decided to drop the prequels. Those movies can’t be fixed. At least not to what we wanted / expected them to be.

My 2 suggestions to ROTJ-R:

  1. When Vader grabs the emperor, make some of the lighting coming from the emperor reaches Vader (if possible with some sparks from Vader’s device in his chest, to suggest it was broken by the lighting). This way it gets more clearer Vader’s sacrifice and why he died (saving Luke cost him his life support). The way it is now in the movie it seems like he “lost his will to live” 😉

  2. I think Luke should have gone back to Yoda to finish his training after ESB:R. Between the ESB and ROTJ Luke finished his training. While that was happening, the empire chased the rebels and when ROTJ begins, they are in really bad position, with the empire close to a final victory. That will increase the drama in ROTJ. A new crawl can set this to the audience.

Vader lighting up internally like a Christmas tree, the scorched smoking armor, and the “iron lung” clearly sounding like it’s damaged doesn’t sell it enough for you?

I may be mistaken, but IIRC you can’t see any lighting reaching Vader coming from the emperor, so I must assume he were using cheap chinese eletronic that broke for no reason.

Well, if we are lucky, Disney will do a cool Darth Vader movie where we can see him chasing the remaining Jedis across the galaxy. If they do a cool movie, you can consider Rogue One as Episode 3, this Darth Vader movie as episode 2 and someone can try to edit ROTS (with maybe some (few) scenes from the episode 1 or 2) to be the first episode, removing most of it flaws. This way we can have a prequel that doesn’t contradict anything that was said in the OT.
