hey, your ranking is pretty good, but is it a 5 star worth ranking? unsure. (you were rating your own ranking, correct?)
My ranking:

- The Empire Strikes Back DESPECIALIZED
- Star Wars DESPECIALIZED
- Return of the Jedi DESPECIALIZED
So you like despecialized movies more than the actual originals? Huh.
And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.

I certainly like watching them over any official version. The picture and sound quality is miles ahead of the official product and the SE changes have been erased to the point that I can’t tell they were ever there.
I’m just here because I’m driving tonight.

The despecialized version is the best version I have access to at this time.
Wow. I’m one of VERY few fans who ROTJ on the top of the list. I rather be honest than be part of the “in crowd.”
YUB NUB!
Wait, I don’t rate ROTJ the highest because I’m not honest and just want to be liked?
Lol.
Anyway…

I’m talking about myself. If I were to rank TESB the highest, “I” would be lying to myself, and everyone else. “I” am not going to lie in order to be liked. Everyone else here is most likely honest about their opinions. I have noticed that there are some people who have said ROTJ was their favorite as a kid, but as they got older, TESB became their favorite (as if it’s a requirement).
YUB NUB!
maybe you are lying to be noticed / stand out?
maybe you are lying to be noticed / stand out?
Actually, I’m not lying to myself when I say that ROTJ is the best, in my opinion. ROTJ always affected my differently from the other two. Even thought ANH, and TESB are amazing movies, I have always leaned towards ROTJ even movie. I don’t know why. It’s always difficult to explain, and it’s frustrating knowing that I can’t see what other people see negatively about the film. Every negative thing that other fans have pointed out is something I don’t have a problem with: the second Death Star, the Ewoks, Boba Fett’s death, Yub Nub, etc. I always thought that the Death Star 2.0 looked more intimidating than the first, because of it’s “unfinished/distorted” look. I love the Ewoks. One of my favorite lessons in Star Wars is to never judge someone or something by size. They are the underdog, which is one of the many things I love about the OT. Boba Fett is cool, but I am not as big of a fan as other people. If I were to picked Empire over Jedi, it would betray everything I stand for when it comes to Star Wars. I made that comment to show that I am not afraid to stand out of what I see as a sort of “standard” in the Star Wars fan community.
However, I feel like I pressured by something, as if I have to know the difference between what is my favorite, and what is the best. ROTJ is my favorite, and I also want to consider it the best. “Best” and “favorite” are still based on opinion. If someone were to say that 2001: A Space Odyssey was the best film of all time, someone else will say that the best is something else (could be any movie). In other words: there-is-no-correct-or-incorrect-answer!
YUB NUB!
ESB was my favorite as a kid, now it’s the original. ROTJ was never my favorite.

I tried editing the post to get it formatted correctly, but it kept reverting to that. I thought the rotten tomatoes rankings were interesting.
ROTJ was my favourite SW film for a long time, but now not only is it my least favourite entry in the OT, I’m a hair’s breadth away from hating the movie altogether. Yet I’m okay if someone else loves it; I can respect their opinion even if I don’t share it.
When I was younger, my friends and I all agreed that all the Star Wars movies were consider one movie and any discussion of movies automatically considered Star Wars to be #1.
That’s not how the movies work!
- Star Wars
- The Empire Strikes Back
- Rogue One
- The Force Awakens
- Return of the Jedi
- The Phantom Menace
- Revenge of the Sith
- Attack of the Clones
I agree, except I’d swap TPM and ROTS.
I just realised that I haven’t updated my list for a while (my opinion changes a lot), so I’ll do that now.
Yeah, I’ll get some flak for four and five, but honestly, I’ve kinda lost all my hate for those ones. I enjoy 'em.
Not enough people read the EU.

- The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
- A New Hope (1977)
- The Force Awakens (2015)
- Revenge of the Sith (2005)
- Attack of the Clones (2002)
- Return of the Jedi (1983)
- Rogue One (2016)
- The Phantom Menace (1999)
- The Clone Wars (2008)

Heh, and here I am being nervous for putting Return Of The Jedi at number 1. Bold.

I wouldn’t give you flak for 4 or 5; 9, on the other hand…
I assume 9 is the movie, which I’ve never seen but supposedly sucks.
Putting ROTS and especially AOTC over ROTJ or R1, however…

You may be right; and in that case, I agree.

I’d give you flak for number seven.
Am I non-controversial enough?
No.
My ranking:
So to explain my number 1 which is all three OT movies - I grew up with these as a little kid and find that I don’t have a critical view or thought on any of them, seeing them almost as a single body of work that I genuinely love and don’t look to be critical of or try to find fault with (that was until the time of the SEs anyway). I have never looked at one movie as being objectively better than the other nor will I ever as to me it is single story told over 3 movies and it is the story itself that I love as a whole, with the separate movies simply being different chapters / parts if you will with time having obviously passed in between.
The PT will always be on the bottom which makes the only real decision being as to how TFA and R1 ranks in the middle. With some awesome fanedits available I will never watch or list the original PTs ever again and the order of their ranking is really determined by the fanedit itself than the source material.
As to the Clone Wars series and movie, I’ve only ever incidentally seen a few episodes here and there and I’m not interested at all in any SW cartoons anyway or to date any EU.
