You’ll probably get more detailed and correct info here:

But the basics are: TSMuxerGUI can create a BD-compliant file structure from an MKV, and ImgBurn can make a BD-compliant disc from a file structure. How much more complexity you want to add on top of that is up to you. TSMuxerGUI creates an auto-playing menuless BD that repeats when done. I like that (except the repeating part, which is fixable), but if you like menus then you have a lot more work ahead of you.

As for disc art, my only suggestion is for God’s sake do not use those printable adhesive labels. Use real printable discs or a sharpie. Those adhesive labels can lose their adhesion in a warm environment (such as inside a piece of electronics), and then gum up the inside of said electronics. Not super likely, but way more likely than having the man come down on your for downloading a fan edit 😉

What about case art? This sounds more complicated than I thought. Maybe I should just skip the menu.

I think skipping the menu saves a lot of work, and you don’t honestly lose that much in the process. Again, this is better suited to the technical HOWTO section, but case art can be tricky because much of the default image printing programs (the Windows image viewer) don’t pay any attention to the size the image is supposed to be, and size is really important for case art. There should be free software out there to do it, or Photoshop if you happen to have that lying around 😉

I just paid an amount of money I’d rather not disclose for the Despecialized Edition on eBay. This version, to my credit, came with pressed discs including menus and packaging things I don’t know if I could make myself. It also comes with From Star Wars to Jedi. Now if only I could find someone trying to hock the Apocalypse Now workprint.

What the fuck dude way to support those pieces of shit that are profiting off of harmys work and endangering the entire community. Would have thought a regular long time user would know better than to do this shit

You did it wrong. Very wrong.
Way to go.

Perhaps a finer point is that I am sure that any number of forum members would have done you a solid and made you some discs if you had covered the cost of materials. Just my 2 cents…

An even finer point is that not only were there instructions for getting these the right way plastered all over the forum (perhaps you should visit other areas of the forum besides the one only three threads I’ve ever seen you post in) but there’s also clear instructions not only on the forum but at the beginning of every edit NOT TO FUCKING BUY THIS SHIT. You’re supporting people who are doing nothing but profiting off of others work and making the entire community look bad. You’re a regular member here, seriously? You should be ashamed. There’s even a specific thread in the subforum that you will find threads on despecialized editions (with instructions on getting them without supporting the pieces of shit that could possibly get this place shut down) even has a specific thread devoted to doing this shit and we have a regular member doing it anyway. I am appropriately ashamed. I saw an unboxing video on eBay and just kind of went off assumption from there. I should’ve known better. It just seemed the quickest way. Apologies.

It’s no consolation, but I will never do it again. I was ignorant, and went with what seemed the quickest option. I see now the error of my ways, and had I spent more time on the forums in the proper places, I’d have known better.

Probably no consolation at this point, but I’ll be sure to never again pay for a fan edit. Again, apologies.

For what it’s worth, I think we should go easy on Mike. He’s expressed his anxiety over the usual means of obtaining these things, and his anxiety is obviously beyond that of the majority of us, based on his posts in the Emotional Support thread. Yes, he did wrong, but I think he deserves more slack than most of us.

I like this idea.

Lesson learned, eh Mike? It’s really okay. The world won’t implode and I’m sure your actions will not call down the wrath of the god-mouse. Just ask for a little more help in the future and I’m sure someone will help you. Life goes on and we still want you around! 😃

I understand the anxiety over downloading these things, but I don’t understand how having it in your ebay purchase history is any better…

Mike O,

Having purchased one of these custom DSE box sets from eBay, do you (or anyone else) know if it gives you any additional options or leverage via eBay to report this as pirated material and get the profiteering piece of shit in proper trouble?

Or does everyone think this would end up putting the spotlight back on us with the material in question being a fan edit that originated from a member here?

This is what I don’t understand.
“I’m nervous about the legality of downloading fanedits via the methods the community has given me, so I’ll do something even more risky and damaging to said community.” Weird.

^This.

Heck, everyone thinks irrationally at times. Like right now, do you honestly think he had any other motive for buying in eBay? Does anyone think he is trying to bring in a lawsuit or get this site shut down? Obviously, it seemed easier and safer (whether true or not) than a trackable torrent. Mike’s a decent guy and I hate to see him getting ripped over what was obviously a mistake.

Did people pay money for the Phantom Edit and the Holiday Special when those were making the rounds in the early 2000s for the former and the late 90s for the latter?

I bought a VHS bootleg of the HS at a con back in the early 90’s. Most fans my age probably did. However, I did not pay $175 for it.
