That is not Ady’s fault really, the shots are in the wrong order that is why the storm troopers are inconsistant. I looked at this part for years it’s really confusing but once you re-arrange it it starts to make more sense. But I don’t think Ady wanted to re-arrange the sequence. There are 2 shots missing and one pulled from another sequence where they run through the hall part which was flipped. But the footage was never released where the citizens of cloud city shot the storm troopers. It was like a rebellion against the empire scene on cloud city. It’s in the script and it was filmed.

The storm trooper on his own shooting behind the pillar is the one we see dead earlier with the group of storm troopers coming into the area. The shots are in the wrong order of sequence.

This was my final guess at in what order the shots were meant to be in. Key word here is guess. you can trust quite a bit of it not the start though.

Also I think pretty impossible to fix. Smoking R2-D2 is also from the part where he electrocutes himself. But it is also possible that they never left the door where R2-D2 electrocuted himself.

Watching your video reminds me. I wonder why the shot of Chewie and R2 being pursued by that one Stormtrooper wasn’t flipped to correction (R2’s holo-projector should be on the left side of his eye, and yet it’s still on the right side in “Revisited.”)

What do you call a humble brag when someone is bragging about something awful? :p

Hehe. Would it have been okay if I had typed Poison instead of GNR? :p

I would never dream of holding anything against Ady when it comes to this part or any part of the film tbh. But I would love to see somone including myself simply try a chronological edit with some fixes.

It has to do with the missing shoot out between cloud city citizens and stormtroopers that is all. Like I said really difficult to cure that.

For a while I thought it went after Bob a fett flies off but it is to do with the missing shootout.

There is that added shot of the ladies pausing to hear the voice of Lando. It could be redressed so that troopers are pulling guns on them followed by blaster fire but that would a suggestion and we don’t do those any more 😄

I’m almost done building the set out of cardboard, now I need to start building the additional stormtrooper costumes, also out of cardboard.

Here’s the one I already made:

His acting might be a bit cardboard… Budum pish.

You could potentially use the shot that is flupped storm troopers shooting with some jiggery pokery when lando and leia run past where they come from heading off chewie. It would mean losing the dude carrying the ice cream machine though…

Make one shot from 2 shots.

To get around missing stormtroopers from the platform i had an idea to use source film maker and get somone to animate a few troopers shooting. But you still have another missing shot with a soundmix that goes pew pew pew! Lasers being fired. So to elaborate the soundmix is very telling that we are missing a shot where lasers are fired and that sound generally denotes going past camera.

Look i don’t care but that part of the film is a huge mess and i have wanted and thought about ways to try and fix it for years.

But i will concede defeat frink as much as i want that bit to be totally perfect i know i can not do it. I wish they would just release the full sequence in the right order but it will never happen.

I was secretly hoping Ady made a ROTJ teaser similar to how he made a teaser for ESB with ANH.

Don’t worry I just skim all these posts for things to make fun of anyway. 😉

My best guess at chronological order. The meaning of that shot is only they flipped it so it joins with R2-D2 plugging in the wall but it does not join at all like this.

Lando Leia run through hallway chewie and R2 are lagging behind. Stormtroopers shoot citizens fight stormtroopers. Chewie goes another way shoots the one in pursuit while the other storm troopers are in battle with the citizens.

Lando makes his announcement to the city to leave. R2 electrocutes himself.

3p0 “how am i supposed to know the difference between power socket and a computer terminal”

R2 smoking responds

3po “at least your still in one piece look what happened to me!”

Gun battle resumes on same door where R2-D2 electrocuted himself. Some shots in different order. But all dialogue the same.

And they escape…

Yeah, the whole point of flipping it is so that R2 is moving in the same direction in both shots. I guess Ady decided that was more important for the flow of the action than R2’s holo projector being on the correct side.

I think what adds to the confusion again on another level is this.

Lobot version.
Citizens uprising version.

You can only have one or the other. But we have a mixture of both. Assuming lobot was cut and then they shot the alternate shootout that we see bits of. Or even vice versa.

Yes, R2?

That’s all right. I’d like to keep it on manual control for a while.

(Untranslated beeps)

Was that creative license or did you have a source? Because I always thought R2 was saying something like ‘it’ll take me some time to calculate the jump to light speed’, like Dagobah is really out of the way, and R2 isn’t really prepared for such a journey. Then Luke’s reply is like he doesn’t mind the wait. Otherwise how do you ‘manually control’ a hyperspace route? Doesn’t really fit with what we know about Star Wars space travel.

Even so ‘would you like me to take over control?’ is kind of a clumsy sentence, mate!

Apparently, there are more low quality clouds on the new Millenium Falcon scenes over at Cloud City, but again, it does not distract the viewer. As Harmy said previously about this, a blur could be a quick-fix.

It’s funny how open to interpretation Artoo’s beeps can be. I always interpreted this as Artoo thinking that Luke had maybe “lost his mind a little bit” for re-routing to the middle of nowhere and not wanting to rejoin the relative safety of fleet. I always laughed thinking that Artoo was was asking to take control of the ship so that he could try to fly them back to the rendevous instead of Dagobah.

I’m not sure why you feel that the translation was clumsy though. Is it that you didn’t like the implied noun of “the ship”… e.g. would you have preferred the complete sentence of “Would you like me to take over control of the ship?”.

The source is the Aurebesh on the screen. All of the letters have a direct English translation.

Just watched the movie the other night with some of my buds. We enjoyed it a lot, Adywan did great!

I am looking forward to Return of the Jedi next!
