Wow, I just noticed something I personally hadn’t before about the SE (I don’t view it any more than I have to, and got sucked into a clip of Kenobi showing up in SW embedded in some article I was reading), right after Ben says “Hello there” to R2, in the following shot of R2 they totally forgot to add shadowing on him from the stupid rocks… And then the shadowing is back, darker than ever, the very next shot of him… Add in that crazy “Obi-Wan getting a hummer in a back alley of Mos Eisley” yell (my favorite description I’ve heard of it), the whole scene is just bottomless insanity.

Well, I’ll be damned.

Adywan’s distribution system seems to work pretty well - I haven’t seen much complaining from people not being able to get ESB:R.

Mega has a much easier learning curve than torrents and by using Facebook he’s bypassing all the requests for invites.

So does this mean that the plan for now will probably be to start using a Facebook post as a platform for distribution of links as Adywan has done with his “Revisited” work?

That’s cool and all, but I am a little worried about Facebook maybe not being the best place for it. I mean section 5 of their terms of service is all about copyright. And Facebook is pretty mainstream. Tehparadox always seemed much more fittingly obscure. Might that end up drawing too much attention?

Thoughts?

Sigh. There’s really no way to know for sure, but I have reported that particular seller before. I’ll do it again And I encourage everybody else to do the same.

My suggestion would be that they should be posted on another forum or cloud storage that requires a free account to be set up to view them.

That way they are still easily available to the general Official Trilogy owning community, but not TOO easily available.

No one wants to poke this mouse.

For links. What about using a free email account?

Set up an email account. put the links in an email sent to the same account.
PM the password of the email to people who ask for it?

With all due respect, I personally don’t think that’s a very good idea.

That would give everyone the ability to edit the link information as well as access it. Having a (free) member only forum post requires users to set up an account to view the link lists, but still keeps control of them in the hands of the original poster, presumably Harmy.

cough MEGA cough

If they put the link list on mega, they still need somewhere to post the link to that, so I’m not sure if that solves the problem.

But I think it’s cool that people are starting to brainstorm.

And really, I am just a member of the peanut gallery anyway, as I have had no direct involvement in the production of these projects. The decision will be (as it should) ultimately in the hands of Harmy and everyone else who actually rescued these films. 😃

You know, the problem is a link to the Ultimate Introductory Guide, which contains the links in it, is in the first post of this thread and it’s pinned to the top of the FB page - it would be hard to make it much simpler than that short of actually directly putting the links on FB, which is probably not a good idea, as someone mentioned above.

Have you reached out to info? While these projects don’t necessarily fit the definition of a fanedit, they may be willing to host MEGA links.

Author

That’s even more obscure and hard to find, so I doubt that’s gonna help much.

Sorry, I probably haven’t followed along closely enough. What would be your preferred scenario?

 (Edited)

My preferred scenario would be for people to stop constantly spamming this thread and my inbox with link requests and also, perhaps more importantly, stop buying bootlegs.
While also not posting direct links in places where it’s strictly prohibited.

Reading this again, I’d suggest adding something like “Read the Ultimate Introductory Guide, Which Can Be Found in the First Post, For How To Obtain Links” in the title of each of your threads. You’ll never get everyone to pay attention but maybe more people will that way?

Something like megasearch.co? It’s a bit shadier looking tho.

“…the Ultimate Introductory Guide, which contains the links in it…”

TUIG only directs users to the link lists, it doesn’t contain them, which I do believe is wise.

However, for multi-part rar link list, TUIG currently directs to two places:
HanDuet’s guide which is only supplemental, and the now dead tehparadox thread.

To replace tehparadox, What about setting something up on proboards? It has a free version, options to allow only registered users to view content, and member registration is free.

Harmy,

I finally got around to a bit of free time and have been catching up on the OT and related projects and DAMN. I’m so happy to have Star Wars back in my life after the tragic episodes and now that I started to prowl around my old web haunts I’m so glad to see that you’ve done some fantastic work here Harmy! I love the little SE bits and the recolouring.

The Force is strong with this one.

As someone outside the community, with little to no knowledge or ability regarding torrents, to be able to get hold of the DE from tpdx was the only option for me really. It would be a real shame if an equivalent ‘official’ method didn’t replace it. My first thought was a private tumblr blog with the links, but the proboards suggestion seems much better!!

Having to do a little bit of research into where and how to download felt perfectly reasonable to me when considering the nature of the project. While Facebook has worked like a charm for Revisited, it does feel very out in the open and could easily draw the wrong sort of attention from the powers that be, as has been said already.

Also, as this is my first post after a year of lurking, I have to pay my respects and say a massive thank you to Harmy, hairy_hen, Towne, CatBus and everyone who has worked so hard to make despecialized happen. The work is truly inspiring!

What’s the story MU-TH-UR?

I don’t know if this is the place to ask this, but which movie version is Harmy currently working on, and is there any sort of rough ETA on it?

More space pirates selling these on eBay…I’ve reported them all. Honestly, this kind of stuff threatens this hobby we all love.

You may be asking, “What exactly am I paying for?”

The answer is simple, it is for my time, materials (Blu-Rays, ink, paper, etc.) and personalization that go into creating the homemade box set.

Wow…

Its the same on EBAY UK, no matter how many times you report the listing EBAY do nothing about it, its as if they just dont care. These sellers are making a nice profit from Harmys hard work. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Star-Wars-Trilogy-Despecialized-Trilogy-Blu-Ray-/112558196937?hash=item1a34fdc8c9:g:udsAAOSwp4VZlA~V http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Star-Wars-Despecialized-Trilogy-Blu-ray-/112558036843?hash=item1a34fb576b:g:WPsAAOSwIIxZkcax
