Yeah, it’s finally done and rendered as of 2 hours ago.

Now all that’s left is uploading the final pieces for assembly.

Not sure I understand… you’re putting the reels together in the cloud?

No, another forum member is going to handle the final render and sound things.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

The 97 SE won’t sync to the Bluray without editing - the Han/Greedo shootout changes the length of the film and for the bluray they clipped out 4 frames at the reel1/2 change and added in 4 frames at the shootout from the DVD so nothing between there is in sync.

Congrats NeverarGreat! Can’t wait to see your masterpiece!

Woo! This and Revisited back to back? It’s truly a great time to be a Star Wars fan.

How large is this file going to be? Should I order some 50gb discs?

Author

From what I remember reading on this site, “(yes) I bet you have” aside, the 97 mix was vastly superior to even the 2011 mix when it came to ANH.

Does anyone know if there exists a '97 mix synced to the Blu-ray? I seem to remember such a thing existing, but I could be wrong.

That’s still to be determined, but I’m hoping to preserve as much detail as possible.

If the 97 mix is overall superior, you might as well just patch in the 2011 audio for that one scene (meaning starting at “Yes, I bet you have” and ending after the lasers are fired)

Since the 2011 version of the scene is shorter, in the quick and dirty version I mocked up the '97 sound cuts right at the video cut (or a few frames before, to capture the sound of the blaster firing). Probably not a perfect solution, but it avoids mixing any other source into the '97 sound.

If you can’t find one, I can make one pretty quick. I just need to know what frame the title first appears. And I can make the one different scene fit. I could do it Tuesday at the earliest. I have the DTS files and the DD/AC-3 tracks with proper LFE already synced. Doing the necessary edits and rendering the 6 mono tracks won’t take much time. Let me know if you are interested.

The 97 mix is the best sounding mix for star wars to date on my setup, some content changes aside. The 93 mix sounds good on sound effects and dialogue but the score sounds very “worn out” or washed out, not in terms of volume but fidelity. The 97 mix still slightly has this issue but it’s not nearly as noticeable. The 2004/2011 mix is just awful. Weird cuz aside from content the newest mixes of esb and Jedi sound amazing.

Yeah, that would be awesome! I’ll let you know tomorrow where the title appears, but the film is frame synced to the Blu-ray so you could just use that to determine the correct frame.

My go to BR track is one I extracted directly from the disc using TSmuxer’s demux. I’ll sync it to that.

I think this looks really good. I won’t get this though at the moment. Too big file size but I did want to say I think you have done a great job!

I am tempted but too much stuff happening at the moment. Basically I just want to say I like it. Well done.

Okay… that was interesting. The 2011 “Yes, I’ll bet you have” was one of those sucky lines. No better in the 2004 mix. The 2011 mix has nice channel separation so for the center channel, I used the line from the 93 mix. But the 97 SE does not have nice channel separation (and this is the sound straight from the DTS disc). So I layered in the line at 13 DB lower for both the right and left channels to match the rest of the conversation. I only used the 97 surround track and both LFE tracks are blank for this scene. Now to the question of delivery.

I am VERY excited for this and appreciate all the amazing work that I’m sure went into this

Congrats on finally finishing this NeverarGreat! Very interested in seeing what colour choices you’ve made in certain scenes.

Do you have any plans to work on The Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi?
