Because getting your veto overridden makes you look weak, and vetoing a Russian sanctions bill makes you look complicit. But signing the bill while hurling insults and going off on self-aggrandizing tangents makes you look exactly the same as before.
Yet despite its problems, I am signing this bill because someone told me I had to. Granted, it took a few hours, because they had to first explain to me how our government works, then they had to explain how I couldn’t just ignore the bill, then they had to explain what a veto is, then they had to explain how my veto would be overridden. And since I believe in full honest transparency, I can explain to the American people that it took several hours to explain all this because I kept getting distracted by Fox & Friends and Twitter.
Also I signed the bill because only I can bring everyone together and I make lots of money and I am great.
