Sorry I bailed on it. The hosts just rubbed me the wrong way.

I think after the issues this film has had its going to be hard to save it from negative comments from those with merely a passing interest in the star wars universe. And if it’s not completely true to the Han character it will face even more backlash from so called die hards. Howard is a brave man taking it on.

If it’s bad he can just say "I’ve made a huge mistake"and move on.

Could it be that Malla was the Wookiee who found Han Solo and perhaps help raised him. Remember, Wookiees are very, very old. It would be touching to see Han Solo say goodbye to his foster mother, whom is also Chewbacca’s wife.

Han probably saves not only Chewie, but his foster mother Malla, as well as others.
😉

That sounds like the idea of showing Han as a kid being raised by Wookiees that was dropped for Episode III.

This was hilarious.

It was.

I thought it was funny, too. They’re totally right, you just know they’re going to work the Kessel Run into the story somehow, and of course Boba Fett’s going to show up somehow. I just wish these things could be left to our imagination, I don’t need every little detail of Star Wars backstory over-explained.

Actually that would be very odd as it would then make Chewbacca something like a foster dad to Han which is just weird. Chewie has always seemed like his best mate / wingman than a father figure LOL…

Agreed. A Han Solo film wasn’t really my first choice for another standalone movie, but I’m looking forward to it. It is kind of hard to be excited though, especially since lucasfilm really hasn’t given us anything to be excited about yet concerning the movie.

I could also imagine Greedo appearing in this movie, being an unlucky (shitty) bounty hunter.
But I would also prefer if they were leaving Han’s backstory to our imagination and focus on new stories/characters we know much less about, but who knows, eventually this will be a great movie.

If Jabba appears and Greedo is there, I won’t mind too much. Jabba has a lot of Rodians in his employ, so it makes sense he’d be around. Just no random cameos in a crowd like Dr. Evazan and Walrusman had in Rogue One that seemed gratuitous.
Even George cut kid Greedo from TPM.

I’ve been dying to see some Rodians in one of these new films. We need more classic aliens mixed in with all these new ones to tie the films together.

If I were making this movie, I’d make it so dumb and fanservicey to be a bonkers self-parody. It’d be over-the-top, cheesy, and entirely non-canon.

JOHN POWELL TO SCORE UNTITLED HAN SOLO MOVIE

Composer John Powell, who may be best known for his memorable soundtracks to the Matt Damon Bourne series, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda (1 and 2), and How to Train Your Dragon (1 and 2), will be lifting the baton to score the upcoming young Han Solo movie, due in theaters next year.

Powell, a London native, has written music for dozens of films since moving to the US in 1997, earning an Academy Award nomination for his stirring score to How to Train Your Dragon. Powell is only the third composer to be welcomed into the exclusive family of Star Wars live-action music writers, which includes the legendary John Williams (the eight Skywalker saga movies) and Michael Giacchino, who scored last December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The untitled Han Solo movie will be scored in the style of the original Star Wars movies but retain Powell’s distinctive voice.

The untitled young Han Solo movie, which is being directed by Ron Howard, will be released on May 25, 2018.

I really hope Jabba is one of the villains in the movie! If not the main villain then maybe on the side. I’d be interested to see if they built a Jabba puppet again or do part practical-part cgi like they did for the Bor Gullett monster in Rogue One.

The rumor from several months ago is a practical Jabba puppet has been built.

I’m fairly apathetic about this movie. I did think the outrage over the director change was a little much, but overall, I’m not overly excited about this movie. It’s not of any idea that it’ll “ruin Han Solo” for me. It’s just not hitting a nerve.

So, one could say you’re neutral about it?
