Before Trump ™ there was very little actual politics discussed in this thread. It was mostly guns and abortion.

It technically is political, though.
…gender politics?
Hrumph.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Thousands of peeved voters are removing themselves from state voter rolls, prompted by a fear that their personal information could be revealed by President Donald Trump’s vote fraud commission.
The number of those “unregistering” ranges from several thousand in Colorado to hundreds in Vermont and a handful in some other states, several state officials told NBC News, as voters mount a mutiny at the Presidential Commission on Election Integrity, which was formed in May to study “vulnerabilities” in the American election system.
I can only hope they’re Republicans.

Probably because, at that time, a critical minimum amount of it was being discussed by elected officials and their appointees.
Discussion is for housewives and little girls. Real men don’t talk, they shoot.
Too much politics, back to Dr. Who!
whatever.
Case in point.
whatever.
HE SAID THE LINE!!!

For now.
The 2018 Senate map, in a neutral year, is a Democrats-lose-six-seats map. In a wild anti-Trump revolutionary Democratic tidal wave year, it’s a Democrats-lose-three-seats map. So they don’t have the votes right now. Unless we take the House, they will later.
I think there was a movie where Sherlock Holmes was a woman. Can’t recall if it was period set or modern times. Might have been a tv movie or a pilot though.
Well, the show Elementary did this with DR Watson, I presume this is what you are remembering?
When I first saw this show I thought it was being done for the same reasons that warbler seems to think the DR who thing is. But since then I picked this show up again and really enjoy it.

Rep Mark Walker: “Well, it means at this point we’re a little incompetent”
To be fair, changing James Bond or Sherlock Holmes to women would be incredibly stupid.
No, the idea that a fictional character can’t be reimagined is what is incredibly stupid.
They wouldn’t really be the same character. Doctor Who is the same character whether a woman or not. I recommend people stop reimagining stuff, just make new characters. Realistically they won’t do anything like that to Bond or Sherlock after how big of a flop the Ghostbusters remake was.

All just semantics and labels. You can make a Jane Bond that is exactly the same as James Bond except for her first name and her vagina and it’s not a big deal. Or at least it shouldn’t be a big deal but some people insist on making it a big deal.

Well they just did it with Doctor Who, so…
This is number eight.
An American-based employee of a Russian real estate company took part in a June 2016 Trump Tower meeting between a Russian lawyer and Donald Trump Jr., bringing to eight the number of known participants at the session that has emerged as a key focus of the investigation of the Trump campaign’s interactions with Russian.
Ike Kaveladze’s presence was confirmed by Scott Balber, an attorney for Emin and Aras Agalarov, the Russian developers who hosted the Trump-owned Miss Universe pageant in 2013. Balber said Kaveladze works for the Agalarovs’ company and attended as their representative.
Balber said Tuesday that he received a phone call from a representative of Special Counsel Robert Mueller over the weekend requesting the identity of the Agalarov representative, which he said he provided. The request is the first public indication that Mueller’s team is investigating the meeting.

James Bond is supposed to be all one timeline, so they just recast the actor whenever he gets too old (I think they started a new timeline recently with Daniel Craig). Sherlock Holmes is a character from classic literature, and a female in his role wouldn’t make much sense given the time period he’s set in. If they did some kind of modern day version of it, it could work, but they’d have to change his name to a female name anyway so why not just be creative and make a new character in the spirit of Sherlock Holmes? The reason that isn’t as desirable is because

They made another installment in a long-running sci-fi series where the lead character is capable is changing bodies. Much different than remaking a beloved classic for no reason and spending several hundred million dollars to only make a little over 200 million. I don’t really care much about remakes, though, the originals are still around so just watch those instead. Regardless of what they do to the main characters I tend to just ignore Hollywood’s remakes these days.

I’d watch a Jane Bond who bedded every man she crossed paths with while simultaneously punching them in the face.
I assume that’s what James Bond does but I’m obviously not terribly familiar with James Bond.

A lot of people agree with you but for me it completely depends on the execution. The new Ghostbusters had different characters and jokes and it made me laugh. The Judge Dredd remake was an actual movie instead of a silly Stallone vehicle. I haven’t seen True Grit yet but it is supposedly really good.
I don’t avoid things just because they carry the same name as other things.

Never actually seen that. What I’m thinking of is much older. There have been so many takes on Holmes, it’s hard to keep track. I forgot Tom Baker played him not long after hanging up the scarf.

You’re going to need that Stallone version in about ten years when you finally get to ROTR. 😉
