It looks amazing, but the walls for the frames I have of this scene and look slightly more green, while the lights and top off the walls are a bright teal/blue, not unlike the frame you regraded recently in the theatrical colors thread.

Here’s a not so great photo of the frames:

The Senator print photos are actually not far off for the conference room scene:

My new scanner arrived today, so hopefully I will be able to share the scans for this scene, and others soon…

My apologies if I asked this question many moons ago, but were you able to remove the “ghost” Luke compositing error in one shot from the Lars homestead? There was some odd error in the Blu-Ray footage that had a ghostly still frame of Luke standing in an empty door in the scene where Lars asks where Luke went for the morning.

OK, first off… looking at the difference between what’s in Dr. Dre’s hand and Neverargreat’s image… I see more of a cyan push than “green” vs. Neverargreat’s blue wall… I also THINK I see slightly less saturation in his face, but… hard to tell with a frame against blazing sunlight… either way… I like the idea that Neverargreat’s regrade will have more blue in these shots and ***** will have more green in them, and personally hopes he doesn’t change the shot.

To get from A to B with curves, I just have no idea how to do that. Any movement I put into boosting part of the green channel turns his hair green. GIMP has a cool feature though that can break up tint adjustments on a per color basis.

Does that look closer to what you have in your hand Dr. Dre?

It’s a tough balancing act, since as Dreamaster said the hair and gray metal can easily turn green with the more green walls. I’m also taking into consideration the fact that many of the Tech references have too much of a green push and I’m trying to ease that back in certain places where I think it’s appropriate, taking the most balanced frame for reference purposes.

As for the Luke ghost, he’s in every version of the SE so there’s a good argument for leaving him in. On the other hand, it’s clearly a mistake, so perhaps I’ll just remove him anyway 😃

Yes, something like that. The photographs tend to increase contrast, so it will be interesting to see what the calibrated scans will show. The cyan Death Star conference room walls are very consistent though for all shots across multiple reels.

I really like NeverarGreat’s correction too. It reminds me of some 1997 SE frames I saw recently. I think they probably represent what most of us would like Star Wars to look like.

The technicolor frames sort of remind me of the remastered Godfather with it’s warm sepia tones. In it’s own way it’s quite beautiful and very distinctive.

Okay changing those Luma values for Tarkin’s skin does a hell of a lot for this shot! There’s so much more depth between Tarkin and the background compared to the flat look of Despecialized. Fantastic work as always!

My Guess that was based off the photo of your frame in your hand:

Not too far off! 😃
Your gamma corrected versions look good Dr. Dre!

Fantastic! “Old man” skin tones, instead of “baby pink” skin tones! I won’t lie Dr Dre, those initial scans you posted scared me silly, so glad you got the kinks worked out, these look great!

That’s interesting. There’s a notable color shift from the first images to the last image, which has more blue and generally more balanced tones. Which color cast would you say is more prevalent in these scenes?

I have a few more of this scene, among them one wide shot, but these were all in one batch, so they were the first in line to be scanned:

I’ve altered the settings of the software, which produces the same colors, but with much improved contrast and saturation. I will post those tomorrow in the thread.

Yeah for some reason there’s a big red stain on the Admiral’s face for the bluray…Luckily it can be healed by Dr…:

I truly feel like a wheel chair bound man in a room full of world class runners discussing the nuances that running takes on their leg muscles! (Im color blind) 😃
From what I see, it looks great and I wished I had the visual acuity to contribute to this project.
