Note how the core of Luke’s saber is often green,

There was only one scene where it really bothered me:

Version 1:

Version 2:

Version 2 will have all Despecialized audio tracks, and black bars that don’t change, and will be encoded for easy translation to blu ray iso.

Dreamaster, I am really looking forward to this. Thank you for devoting so much time to improving the original grindhouse release.

That means a lot to me Bluto, I appreciate it. Unless something goes wrong with the review, version 2 will go out Saturday.

That’s an example of a spot where I missed the cut out to the non-spec cleaned DNR version. I’m sure there’s a few issues like that scattered throughout the film.

I hope to get v2 over the weekend and make an ISO for burning to Bluray. Browsing the forum, it seems that tsmuxer is the software of choice for such a task. To those who are familiar with the process: are there any special/non-obvious settings I need to select?

Many thanks again to Dreamaster.

Just thought I’d show some comparison photos between the original Grindhouse release and this shot by shot CC and denoise.

"will it go to usenet?"
Not from my hands.

Anyone else able to volunteer? It would be awesome to get to watch this.

THIS LOOKS GREAT! THANKS, DREAMASTER!

edit: the pulsing red glow is way less noticeable here than in previously released versions of this scan

Agreed! The previous version was unwatchable because of the red glow. This one looks way better!

Hey folks–hate to be a bother, but I am wondering if v2 has yet to have a public release! Went to the internal organ and had no luck finding it there. Please PM me if it’s available. Thanks in advance.

bloody hell man i can not believe this, the video rivals that of the blu ray and apart from the red “flaring?” in some scences (i think it might be damage on the original film and not a product of the color correction) the colours far outdo anything on the blu ray. keep up the good work man.

That looks really great. Can v2 be downloaded from usenet? (No Myspleen account)

I can’t tell if it’s just my copy, but just after the crawl, there’s the pan down to the Star Destroyer. There are some missing frames, causing the video to skip. It’s noticeable with the planet skipping. There are no missing frames in version 1, so I’m thinking it’s an encoding error.

The Fox logo and title cards suffer from very low bitrate. It’s as low as 2Mbps at some moments, causing some macroblocking artifacts. The picture does get much much better, especially when it gets to Hoth. Is there a reason the video bitrate is much lower than version 1?
