It’s still the only movie trilogy where the original versions are actively suppressed. Now the SE has ruled longer than the OUT has, and entire generations have been CUT OFF from their cultural heritage. Lucas was sadistic in forcing his version down our throats, and Disney has actively said they will do nothing to restore the OUT to its rightful place. Decades from now the SE will still remain as the only version people watch.

I still cannot believe that Kennedy buries the original cut of Star Wars while celebrating the 40th anniversary of said cut.
That would be a sad anniversary (with the passing of the jubilarian), indeed.

I was only referring specifically to ISIS’s destruction of cultural artifacts, and nothing else.
ISIS is definitely worse than Lucasfilm by light-years, obviously, but both are guilty of cultural cleansing.

No, don’t worry, that’s wrong too. The literal destruction of art and architecture that’s thousands of years old is unfathomably worse than what’s going on with Star Wars. By destruction, of course, I mean blowing up, burning, knocking down, forever leaving in ruin, etc. Not something as petty as refusing to release the original version of a movie that still exists in multiple formats across the globe, even if they’re not optimal. Star Wars, as important as it is, is not getting “destroyed” on a level anywhere near those reasonably more important ancient artifacts.

We have been suffering ever since Gary Kurtz was kicked out of the franchise; without him there can never be a good Star Wars movie.
If only we were allowed to own the original versions, and if the SE was just a short-lived anomaly, I wouldn’t be acting so unhinged.
Disney has chosen to turn a blind eye to this cultural atrocity by refusing to release the originals when they easily could.
I do not want to accept a reality where in 2037 there is still no OUT legally available, and the entire population accepts the SE as the version that has always existed.
These movies are too important to be given second-class status and be destroyed like the Bamiyan statues.

The destruction of ancient artefacts in the Middle East is limiting those nations’ ability to recall their history. It’s a war crime. Star Wars is culture with a very small c by comparison.

Back to the 4k restorations. Since we know that the SE versions are preserved, but not sure when those will come out, there are plans for fan restorations of those also.
SE prints are relatively easy to find. Expect some news on the 4K SE of Star Wars in the other forums on OT
at some point. Sure, not everyone cares for those, but there are still people that enjoy them, and would like
those preserved also.

They do still make that show, hadn’t been the same since they (understandably) disbanded ISIS. The cocaine season was the last good one i thinks
