To die… To be truly dead… That must be glorious.

No doubt, brother.

The second layer of death is something I have pondered since adolescence and it has brought me mixed feelings. Yeah people have come back to tell tales of unyielding darkness, bright lights and things of the like but someone who had their head blown off by a shotgun is beyond saving and when one cannot be saved what happens? For all we know the reports people have made could be merely chronicling the early stages of being deceased and that bit of uncertainty frightens me.

My knowledge of Dr. Seuss is inadequately low. I’ve read probably three of his books in my entire life.

Today is Trans Day of Visibility (damn, I never realized how many I’s are in that word).

Hello, I exist. Is that Visible enough?

I’ve been arguing with a dude on YouTube who genuinely believes VHS is better than DVDs and Blurays (says they look unnatural, over detailed and VHS is grainier and much more atmospheric, how films from the 80s were supposed to look).

I genuinely thoroughly want to die.

What, a man builds a giant mound of dirt in his house and you aren’t entertained?

VHS is better until you want to watch Tron with your brother and a mutual friend late on a Friday night but the player in the bottom of the TV violently shoots the tape back out at you, making you too scared to use that player for a while.

Just kidding, VHS isn’t better, but the rest of the story is true, and perhaps my favorite story of my early-double-digit-years.

If they made 1080p vhs I’d totally watch it. Pipe it through my digital projector and it’d be almost like watching a film for movies that only have squeaky clean digital masters.

Have the YouTube comment sections ever brought forth anything other than abomination?

that is a good story.

another reason VHS is better: it is easy to tell if it was rewound. impossible to tell with DVD and Blu-ray. Not sure about 4K blu-ray, i haven’t used those yet.

D-VHS is digital 1080i on tape, so yeah, there’s that. Not many films were released on it, though.

That’s what my last VCR* tended to do before it gave up the ghost.

*True VCR, that is, not my DVD/VCR combo, which still functions swell (the VCR half, anyway).

Also worth noting: VHS lets you fall asleep to a movie without waking you up with loud menus.

Unless your VCR has an auto-power down timer, then you’ll have your ears blasted off by either static or late-night PBS

Sounds like the barking loonies I used to see on the IMDB boards who insisted Blu Rays were not better than DVD, and therefore a waste of money.
Tell him Betamax was even better. 😉

You could always switch to the line inputs before you start?

Imagine that, except the TV and VCR are above you on a stand thing mounted on the wall, so the projectile is like a bomb dropped on to the unassuming, helpless target.
