Since the SE got a theatrical release, this could be technically accurate if they actually changed the video to the '97 version, which I’m sure they haven’t done.

That’d be more shocking than if they released the OOT.

It’s obviously a mistake. Question is, is it a mistake with meaning?

Right, I don’t think anyone is saying that this was meant to be posted on Amazon.

Go to Amazon and search Return of The Jedi. This is what I saw…

Can someone with twitter tweet this to Pablo Hidalgo?

Come on guys, he’s not going to have anything to say about this. What do you all think he does anyway?

Right. If anything, he’d want to downplay any of these rumors even if it is happening. I’m still curious what he’ll say though.

Real or not, he’d probably just laugh at it. That’s what I’d do anyway.

Yet another article reflecting the seemingly renewed interest in seeing these finally come to light:

http://www.denofgeek.com/uk/dvd-bluray/star-wars/47605/star-wars-and-the-growing-clamour-for-the-original-cuts

They raise the spectre that it may indeed by Lucas whose holding these up…either out of respect to him, or because Disney is legally proscribed from doing so (possibly as a condition of the sale).

I’m not sure if the recent increase in mainstream press attention to this subject means there really is some “there” there, or it’s just buzz feeding on itself.

I’m pretty sure Den of Geek just reposts other people’s rumors. I don’t think they do any real investigating themselves.

That’s nothing. The Blade Runner set has like 6 versions of the movie.

Five versions of Blade Runner have been publicly released on DVD, HD DVD and Blu-Ray

The US Theatrical Cut
The International Theatrical Cut
The Directors Cut
The Final Cut
The Work Print

Plus Version 6 - the deleted scenes that are so extensive they form an entire alternate cut of the film when put back-to-back.

THAT version hasn’t been officially released though. That’s the Comic-Con version, right?

Nah, it’s on the Blu-Ray. Just watch the entire set of deleted scenes via “Play All”. Voila, instant sixth cut of Blade Runner. 😃

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

Even the 2011 versions have been shown in theaters, but the download version of Jedi hasn’t. They removed the Fox fanfare from Empire, Jedi and the prequels for the digital and broadcast versions.

Granted, that’s the only difference and maybe I’m splitting hairs, but it’s still enough to make me wonder why the hell it would say “theatrical version.”

As far as I know, there’s only one person who could make this happen and he hasn’t seemed all that interested.

He’s apparently shifting this onto Lucas. Which doesn’t make sense if Fox and Disney are meeting with Verta on his restoration. But if they had one of their own, they wouldn’t be meeting with Verta saying “we have one, thanks.” I guess we’ll find out at Celebration.

He didn’t pitch his meeting as an offering of the unaltered version of Star Wars.

Very good point.

All this time I’ve been pointing to John Landis’ story about what George said and yet I completely forgot about Mike Verta’s meeting with Lucasfilm.

What exactly was the situation with that meeting?

Did it ever even happen?

I have no idea if it happened, I just know that the way he described it seemed like something that could have easily been misinterpreted as having little to do with Star Wars. It’s hard to say though.

Disney will most likely say nothing until Celebration, assuming they’re even planning an announcement at all.

The language in their description of the Celebration Orlando panel about “a few surprises” could literally mean anything. It might not have anything to do with a new release of the movies.

Trying not to get my hopes up, but it would be nice if they at least gave us some kind of official statement on the matter.

I don’t think the assumption that this refers to to Lucas is accurate.

I wonder then who the “he” in Pablo’s tweet is referring to.
