I think Disney should have a go at doing the prequels to RO and show the demise of Anakin (again). It needs re-doing.

I think a standalone Anakin/Vader movie can solve this problem.

I really liked the scenes that showed each Rogue One member sacrifice themselves for the greater good.
I especially liked K-2SO sacrificing himself in the Archive/Data room, to give them enough time to retrieve the plans.
The little nods the movie provided for the fans was a nice touch.
Obviously, the final Vader scene was incredible, and shows how angry, possibly hangry, he can really be.

However, I really hated the CG Tarkin. The scenes with CG Tarkin, threw me out of the movie experience.
Unfortunately, he’s an important character and needed to be in the movie.
It sorta felt like a “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” Meets “Star Wars”, mixing Animation/CG with Live Action.

I’d like to watch it again, since it’s already been a month since I first saw it.

@Lord Haseo, Good tip. I’ll make sure not to post things from my smartphone.

I don’t known whether I could take another hit, I mean how many times can one be let down!

I’ve just had an apostrophe…

If they were to do an Obi-wan standalone as well as a pre-SW Vader, we’d have enough films for an unofficial replacement Prequel Trilogy!

In all honesty, the CG of Tarkin is a good effort, but I just wish they didn’t go the CG route.
If there was a way to superimpose old Tarkin footage from Star Wars to match up with the scene.
I know that wouldn’t be perfect either, but they might’ve been able to pull that off a little better.
As long as they kept the scenes short.

Anyways, to each their own.

As it pertains to CGI Tarkin I liked the idea more than the execution. A voice actor who sounds more like Cushing and better CGI would have done wonders for suspending disbelief.

One thing for sure, Hollywood is unfortunately not going to give up on CGI Actors. Let’s hope Hollywood doesn’t CGI Actors just to make some stupid commercials.

Or celebrities in general…I can already picture a CGI version of Michael Jackson grabbing its crotch…

Something to consider about the CGI recreations in R1, the actors in Star Wars signed away their likenesses to LFL. Like Carrie often joked, “Every time I look in the mirror I owe George a couple bucks.” I think that could have much to do with the legalities that might hinder this kind of thing from going out of control.

Too True, Hollywood doesn’t know when to stop. Heck, they already made a Holograms of Tupac & Michael Jackson.
Hollywood already made a movie about creating a CGI Actress/Model, S1M0NE. It starred Al Pacino as the creator/programmer.

I know I’m in the minority, but I actually do want deceased actors brought back through movie magic. How else am I ever gonna get to see a Bruce Campbell vs. Vincent Price movie?

There’s an old vacuum commercial with Frank Sinatra (I think) dancing with a vacuum (or maybe it was Singing in the Rain Footage) that they made sometime after Forest Gump pioneered the technology of placing old actors (or JFK, in the case of Forest Gump) in new footage, so they’ve been at it for a while now.

One this is for sure, CGI is way better than having a new actor (in terms of visual appearance). That never works, especially when it comes to well-established characters. I am pretty sure it will not work for Han Solo.

Agreed. I’m ridiculously nervous for that movie in general. It’s success hinges on if we believe that the new actor on screen is truly Han Solo. I’ll wait for the trailer to actually get a good grasp on what the movie will be about though before I start getting too worked up 😉

Well, if by “work” you mean he will not look or sound like Harrison Ford, then you are right. That doesn’t mean it won’t be good though. The worst thing they could have done for that film would have been to have the lead performance be a CGI Han Solo with an HF impersonator. I shiver at the thought of it.

I mean some things are difficult to make. Obviously they cannot do the same for the lead character as they did for Tarkin. But new actor is horrible choice for a character that is basically personified by one particular actor (i.e. Ford). In this case I prefer they do not do it at all (the film I mean).

Agreed. There could have been so many other options. Rogue One was a great pick for an anthology movie but a Han Solo one sounds like a train wreck. And the Boba Fett idea sounds even worse. I’d much rather wanna see an Obi Wan standalone or a Vader standalone. Or they could do an Old Republic trilogy once the sequel trilogy is finished.
