Snoke is Jasper. Confirmed.
An obvious indication Ben was spanked as a child … or perhaps not spanked enough.
I’ll leave it up to personal interpretation which is the correct conclusion.
Trying to have it both ways?
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)
Snoke is Jasper. Confirmed.
The fact that he wants to be Vader and Rey learns that’s he’s afraid he’ll never be is one of the best parts of their respective characters. Ren’s flaws make him more interesting.
This was something truly incredible about Force Awakens. I absolutely loved Adam Drivers acting when she says “…that you’ll never be as powerful as Darth Vader”. In that moment he feels so violated and like she finally discovered his darkest secret. I’m excited to see this play out further in episode 8.
Well I find the fact the conflict he has interesting as he is willing himself to be evil and I find his immaturity and his uncertainty to be somewhat endearing. I feel the same way about Luke’s whining and Rey’s naivety as it makes them relatable and makes me want to see them progress. I want there to be a day where we joke about how a baby Kylo used to destroy machines when he was mad.
Interesting to imagine that Luke and Anakin found their peace growing up in tinkering and constructing and perhaps little Ben was always more destructive.
I can see that along with a constant need for attention and selfishness being traits he also exhibited while growing up. When compared to Luke, Anakin and Rey, Kylo had an exponentially better life so for him to still have the mentality of a mentally disturbed 14 year old is a testament to how damaged he is.

Agreed! I’ve read some complaints that he took his mask off first in that scene, rather than later in the movie, and I’m all like “but leaving his mask on would have robbed that scene of its power.” You need to see his face in that moment.
Well, that makes it official. Do Han and Leia get married in Bloodlines? Ben would be the only heir to the Organa royal family (if Leia is still recognized) so I would have thought unless they were married, he would have taken his mother’s (or grandfather’s) family name.
Kids almost always take the dad’s last name if the parents aren’t married.
In royal families though?

Ok, let me be the first to insist on seeing Ben Solo’s long form birth certificate.
People pay more attention to this than the newly released RO which although has just has many faults is a better film!

Make that two. If he doesn’t take off the mask, all we have is a complete Vader reboot. He already fills that role to an extent, but he does move beyond two dimensional when we see he’s just mentally unstable, as opposed to being some deformed freak\alien\cyborg\etc\etc.
I also agree that with Rey not only figuring it out but also letting him know she sees it, it gives the story some depth. In defense of my earlier criticism of Kylo, the depth is all Rey. I still think Kylo borders on merchandise tie-in. I think he’d be more interesting as a straight villain. Something along the lines of Krennic or Tarkin. Someone who is just an evil criminal, not driven by the baggage of granddad and mom. Enough with the universe-shrinking already.
Again; Fingers crossed for Rey Random.
I actually laughed in the theater when he takes his mask off to reveal that he’s just some bratty kid. It’s a fantastic moment, gives you the exact impression of him that you’re supposed to have: he’s a wannabe who has very little idea what he’s doing.

A bit premature don’t you think? Snoke could have twisted Ben in a multitude of other ways while seducing him. Kylo feels as though he should rule over non Force Sensitives which means at least part of his motivation is based on his philosophy. Who knows how many other bits of philosophy have had an influence on his actions?
As it pertains to Leia we don’t know how Kylo feels about her. We can infer but we have nothing concrete.
EDIT:
In defense of my earlier criticism of Kylo, the depth is all Rey.
I disagree as Kylo taking off his mask is out of character as he didn’t do it for Lor San Tekka or Poe. The only two people he did this for were his father and this scavenger. Why would he do such a thing for a seemingly insignificant figure?

So Snokey takes after Pederastic Palps in more ways than one?
Pederastic Palps
What.

I strongly agree. The only difference is that you think this is brillant while I believe it ruins the main menace… and the story as a whole. In ANH Tarkin and Vader are cold and intelligent; in TFA their “young versions” Hux and Ren are so childish that I never believe in the First Order. I just don’t buy it.
Hux is childish?
Again, we seem to have seen different movies.
Hux is ridiculous the entire movie. Maybe “childish” is not the best term, but if Ren is a wannabe Vader, Hux is a wannabe Tarkin, which is as laughable and as dumb.
He got angry that Kylo questioned the quality of his Soldiers. Any Military man would be upset about that but whatever.

And you base this on what exactly?
Young people are ruining the universe. Maybe TFA is another movie about how entitled Millennials are ruining the world.

I dug Hux in the Force Awakens. His speech at the first order base is really powerful. He acted the hell out of that scene.
He puts more energy and hatred into that speech than anything I’ve seen in Star Wars.

I would say that’s one of the best scenes in Star Wars period.

“I hate TFA, it’s such a rehash. Also, the main villains are not like Tarkin or Vader, which is also bad.”

I kinda feel like this is what a lot of the arguments against the Disney-era films boil down to.

That’s because you don’t understand my point. Rehash or not, you’ve got to make good villains, which are severely lacking in TFA. Hux/Ren is obviously a Tarkin/Vader rehash for kids (Harry Potter/Hunger Games generation), and a lame rehash, which does not work. Like the plot is an OT rehash, and a lame rehash. Hux reminds me of the villain in Die Hard 4. Hux actor also sucks in his part (powerful speech ? Seriously guys…).
