This is a bit of an unrelated question, but it is pertained to BD-Rebuilder. Is it possible with the program to replace the main video, but keep the menus and everything else in tact?

Yes, if you’re careful. Put the .x24 file in the same folder as the working files, and create a .CMD (batch file) to rename it to the main one and remove the main file. If 00000.mpls is the main file it’d look something like this:

del VID_00000.AVS.264
ren replacementfile.264 VID_00000.AVS.264

Run BD rebuilder, wait for the main movie to extract, then run the CMD file you made. You must do it immediately after it has demuxed and before it has a chance to begin remuxing the file.

I’d love to get a link to 1.6 if anyone is willing to share the love.

Is the 1.6 ISO up on the spleen? I’ve only seen the MKV.

Yeah, sure enough I got the same error. SnooPac, I have the MKV you posted, I actually found it before I found the ISO, lol. I’ve successfully made an M2TS file of the movie with the 35mm crawl using tsmuxer by joining the two pieces together. More because I can than anything else I guess.

JEDIT: I don’t see why ripping an MKV would be problematic, it just takes a program that can connect multiple files together like what I did. A little tinkering would show which file is which.

It’s possible that some of the previous MKV upload attempts had a long pause between the crawl and the second (main) video sequence.

Hello there, new poster to this board and thread. I only just heard a few days ago about the Negative1 35mm scan. This seems like a much better alternative than the Harmy Despecialized version. I’ve had the Despecialized on Blu-ray for a while now but some parts of it, while great to see it essentially as it was in theatres left me cold. I could tell that they had somewhat downgraded the BD’s color timing, to look more old-school film. But I always knew in my heart of hearts that the best way to view this would be a full scan of some kind. I’m rather blown away that someone has managed to do this with their own person 35mm copy. I’ve got that and the Negative1 Empire “Grindhouse” scan. It’s a bit of a shame there doesn’t appear to be a Jedi copy out there. Other than Harmy’s version and scans from the DVD, are there any good, unaltered Jedi options you can point me towards?

Thanks for any info and I’m forever grateful that even if FOX and Disney won’t do it, there are some fans out there who are preserving films as they originally were.

Harmy has a grindhouse of Jedi that’s in much better condition than Empire. It’s my go-to version.

Hagdorm - I have found almost all the Harmy versions but yet to come across Jedi other than their “despecialized.” can you link me to the Harmy Grindhouse version please? My set is almost complete…

Thank you much hagdorm. Any thoughts on splicing a 5.1 track onto Negative1’s episode IV or V scans?

Thanks for the advise, Blackout. Anyone have an idea when myspleen might be opening enrollment?

In the search for the Jedi Grindhouse I must admit I’m having a bit of trouble with search terms and sites other than Uloz.to. Hints/tips would be appreciated.

I have owned Star Wars in formats on BD, DVD and VHS, and I have to say the Negative1 scans are the best I’ve seen - even with all the dirt and grit on the Empire Strikes Back Grindhouse version

It’s not perfect, but it is my go-to version for the moment as I prefer it to Harmy’s Despecialized. But that’s not to say I think one is better than the other!

I don’t know if this project is still being assisted by any active forum members, but I just completed a minor revision of the Latino Spanish dub. Negative1 would typically get a lossless copy from me for this project, but I’m not sure what username to contact anymore for things like this. Let me know. It’s not uploaded quite yet, but will be soon.

I managed to make an MKV with the new 81 crawl, but it came out to a total of 20.3 GB. I used Handbrake, with video set to lossless with no crop, and the audio set to passthru (I used all 3 DTS-HD tracks from DeEd 2.7 for consistency). The starting file was 33.9 GB. It looks good from what I’ve checked, I can’t really detect a difference without going side by side, but I’m not sure why I got so much smaller a file.

JEDIT: I did a screenshot comparison and it looks like my MKV softened the grain a bit. I’m not sure what I did wrong though.

Well, re-encoding and reducing the bitrate will lose detail including grain. If it was actually lossless in handbrake, the resulting file would be enormous.

This is why people have tried to make MKVs without re-encoding, though clearly it gets messy trying to append the crawl cleanly.

Yeah, I also discovered that I neglected to adjust the video optimization. Oops. I’d prefer to make an MKV without reencoding, but i’m not sure how. Ironically, I made a new Blu-ray ISO that’s exactly what I what, without any quality loss. I just can’t get to the end result of an MKV without reencoding at least once.

No joke there, I tried to make a lossless single disc copy of Das Boot recently (the uncut, almost 5 hour long version), and it went from a 7.73 GB source to over 31 GB! Which of course didn’t work as an SD Blu-ray. I seem to have a knack for picking problematic video projects 😃

Actually, a lossless AVI rendered from a 2 hour, 30GB movie would be at least 300GB.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
