I've been wondering about the whole thing with movies on a psp. How exactly do you get that to happen?
Author
Time
Not entirely sure Rich,

havent got one myself yet, picked up an iPOD instead a few weeks back, if I walk in with a PSP in my hand, the wife is gonna shoot me Afaik, it's a simple upload process as with any USB device, the format of the video is standard also, you can take a look at the www.doom9.com forums for the exact specs. Only problem is that you need a 512mb or bigger memory stick to fit a whole movie, and they unfortunately do not come cheap...

Ah, yes, Sony's typical attitude of ignoring the fact that there is a perfectly good open standard format for something (SD/XD) and stubbornly soldiering on with their own overpriced, proprietry version.

Means I don't buy Sony versions of anything if I can avoid it. But then I wouldn't buy an iPod either, because that doesn't follow open standards (although I was given one for free recently).

heh, the 'it's a Sony' moto has totally lost it's meaning these days. I totally agree with you when it comes to Sony, they're just abusing the market...
Author

All the "it's a sony" motto ever meant was "this costs 1.5 time as much as the equivalent from another brand and probably won't last as long because it's not as well made". I think Sony are the only people in the UK who still try to sell region locked DVD players.

All being well, my laserdisc transfer of ANH will be posted to a.b.starwars later today.

Due to limited upload bandwidth, I've enlisted the help of a couple of friends, the load will therefore be shared between three connections - so don't worry if the files appear in a strange order. Be patient - it'll all get there in the end (I hope)!

thanks for the LaserDisc transfer! Any covers?
Author

What do you mean thanks, it's not finished uploading yet?!

There have been problems with my planned method of distribution; one friend had to re-install his OS after a virus, the other through testing discovered that his ISP only had about 14% completion. So I did it all myself. Uploading 4.7GB on a 200kbps connection is no joke...

There is no DVD cover yet. I know what I want it to look like, but my Photoshop skillz are crap. Any offers of help would be appreciated.

Moth3r,
I'm new to the forum (at least new to posting - I've been trying to read everything in Original Trilogy Preservation so I'm up to speed before posting). So far I only have the TR47 set (Rowman remix). I'm looking forward to the Cowclops set and either of the XO versions, but from the screenshots I've seen, yours look the best. Since I'm originally from the UK, I'm especially interested in a PAL transfer. I've been working on some OT covers for a while in photoshop, planning to offer them here as my small contribution to the awesome stuff you guys are doing. They aren't tied to any set as yet, so I'd be happy to adapt them to yours or create new ones for you if you have a specific design in mind.

Here are a few more "tools" to further enhance Usenet newsgroups.

There is far more to it than just alt.binaries.starwars...............

Newzbin I have mentioned before.

Also, Bincrawler, Newzsearch and Audiofind.

Thanks russs15, very handy links.

I find this site useful: www.usenet-replayer.com as it lets you search and access images and some of the smaller usenet content.

Apologies if it's been posted before.

I'm back to posting after the computer disaster.

Uploading the entire Dr. Gonzo OT including the bonus disc and the 2 'making ofs'. Everything has 15% par2 and I make sure its complete on my server before deleting the rar files from my HDD.

I just finished ANH and ESB starts tonight.

Just finished downloading and watching "Return of the Ewok". I was stunned to see suddenly appear on the newsgroup as I never expected to see this outside of a convention. This download is great to see, and despite being a 320x240 quicktime movie the quality is a lot better than I was expecting. But, there's one slight let-down - it's not the full film. The quicktime is less than 4 minutes long, a far cry from the "24-minute film" quoted here: http://www.lepconnie.com/articles/swi46retewoktext.html

This extract from the .nfo is very telling: "For the first time, an edited version of Return of the Ewok is available online exclusively to Hyperspace members. Please note that the picture quality is inherent in the source material -- this is the cleanest version of this rare film known to exist." My emphasis on the 'edited'.

Didn't realise it was a Hyperspace exclusive, but I'd have hoped for the privilege of subscription, members might get more than edited highlights of rare content.

But enough hypocritical whinging, here's a recent article from a Celebration III showing of the film
Mystery Ewok Theater 2005: Return of the Ewok

Makes you pine for a dvd release, with full Warwick Davis commentary. It'd make a perfect extra for any future version of Jedi.

How big is the file? Could it possibly be posted on yousendit.com? I'd really love to see it.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Its 43 MB. I'm not sure what the rules are on this forum for linking to Hyperspace content, so best to PM me for details of an alternative link.

A little birdie told me it's "posted elsewhere" (temporarily)

Edit: hyperlink removed

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…
