I don’t get the problem with the running-in-heels thing. Women who can run in heels do exist, don’t they? In fact, wasn’t it the actress’s idea anyway? I think I read that somewhere.

Disney didn’t pick Colin Trevorrow for his talent, they chose him because a Jurassic World made a lot of money at the box office.
Yet that doesn’t keep you from running around like Chicken Little with her head cut off.
I’m not too happy with Disney turning the franchise into the cinematic equivalent of Sonic the Hedgehog. Churning out a film every year is never a good idea, because you end up with a rushed product. At least in the prequel era we only had to endure one bad movie once every three years.
It ain’t rushed. different people are working on different movies. Probably the only shared staff is JJ Abrahms. 7 and 8 each had 2 years of development. The prequels each had 3 years between each release and look how well that turned out.
I just watched ATOC. I forgot how damn boring that movie is.
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.
Nah.
I’m still calling it Disney Wars to differentiate it from the OT.
I’m calling it (SW stories, sequel trilogy) the “body snatchers era”: looks like SW, feels like SW, but it’s not SW.
That’s still more than can be said for the prequels.
PT: doesn’t look like SW, doesn’t feel like SW, but it’s SW.
Just because Lucas was involved in something doesn’t make it SW. Red Tails is as much SW as the PT is.
Nah.

While I’m loath to [REDACTED] Ayn Rand’s [REDACTED], you’re objectively wrong.

Was that really necessary?
Where were you in '77?
No, I suppose it wasn’t.
Sexual euphemism has been redacted.
I can’t tell if your redaction is a joke or an honest misunderstanding of the problem.
Has anyone noticed that the only good Star Wars films were released during the Carter administration?

Since I wouldn’t joke like this to a mod, it would appear to be Option #2.
If it pleases you, I’ve redacted the post further.

Has anyone noticed that the only good generallyfrivolous post was released in a parallel universe?

Me too!
I once remarked to a client while I cut his hair that he looks like Jimmy Carter. He laughed and said he’s heard that before (He’s about 10 years younger than Jimmy). Next time he was in he gave me a peanut. Awesome.
Return of the Jedi is, after all these years, still my favorite Star Wars film. The redemption story of Vader as prompted and viewed through Luke is more powerful than anything else to me. The power of myth and Jungian archetypes working themselves out resonates with me. Luke was the only one whom saw redemption as a possibility. He placed himself at Vader’s mercy and continued to tell him he saw the good in him. He presented Vader the opportunity, and was willing to sacrifice himself for his faith in the lingering goodness in his father.
As some of you may know, I’m a therapist. Philosophically, the themes at work in ROTJ resonate with me deeply and are only enhanced by the slightly stilted, Lucas-esque direction style. I want to be Luke seeing the good in others and daring them to do what they choose.
I was so looking forward to seeing this Luke’s continuing story in TFA, and that is probably part of why I felt less than totally satisfied by what we got. (That and SKB.) My heart was racing once Rey landed on the island and began climbing toward our hero. I cannot wait to see what Luke is like in VIII under Johnson’s direction. It must be hell for him to have his apprentice, Kylo Ren, stab him through the heart with the inverted edge of his faith, and that is a story I so want to see Luke process and work his way through. I know Luke will be a supporting character at this point, but I will eat up as much of him as Johnson will give us.
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
My one hope for Luke in VIII is that he isn’t just sulking on Ahch-To. I won’t be mad if he is mourning his students but I want him discovering some secret to destroying Snoke and his Knights of Ren or the training of Jedi in secret to be the primary reason/s he’s there.
I also really really want to see a scene wth him and Leia. Would have preferred to see him and back together but Kylo Ren happened.

There’s a Han missing in that sentence. 😉

Funny seeing as how something has been missing inside of me since Han died.
A friend I introduced to Star Wars has finally seen the Special Editions and now understands why I showed him the Despecialized Editions. Very neat stuff.
