When Jedis die they can reappear as visions to the people they knew. Why is that a concept that needs further analysis?

Because when Jedi’s die they don’t usually show up as ghosts otherwise there would be nothing special about it. It was Qui-gon first. Then Obi-wan and then Yoda. and then Anakin.

No other Jedi was able to achieve becoming a force ghost. But it had to do with the special teachings of Qui-gon which he had learned and passed on his knowledge. Otherwise there would be millions of Force ghost Jedi floating about.

It has nothing to do with being a Jedi.

Meh. That’s all PT garbage and doesn’t effect the films I watch. And appearing to certain people doesn’t equal “millions of Force ghost Jedi floating about”. If everybody could see 'em, Leia would have said “Hey, Luke! Come join us for a group pic- WHAT THE HELL?? G-G-G-GHOSTS!” But, she couldn’t see 'em. Only Luke.

I wonder if this will answer the question of what Vader does when he’s not going around choking imperial officers: Cold storage until needed to kill more rebels.

You actually make a very good point there Ray!

If you saw a force ghost it could give you the Whillies 😃

What do you think about all this Whills stuff? Is it a tool to make different types of Jedi who are capable of different things? I know there was the Journal of the Whills which came first before Star Wars and apparently Chirrut’s crossbow gun is made by the guardians of the Whills, we also have a temple of the Whills on Planet Jedha.

I don’t like the PT films really there are little bit’s that I can take that I do think are good that amount to probably 20 minutes or so across the 3 films.

It could be an interesting addition to the Mythos though?

Fire at Whill Commander!

Even if it does not really have much impact on Jedi’s abilities perhaps they tell this Star Wars Story? From the Journal?

Remembering from interviews and theorizing a bit about the images of armorless Vader, I can put together these things we already know:

-Not much Vader in the movie
-Krennic finds himself in a situation “they or us” regarding his position within the Empire. And he takes a huge bet on it.
-There’s no Krennic in ANH
-Vader in the Bacta tank
-Vader’s line in ANH (and I remember this line particularly pointed out by makingstarwars.net) : “There’ll be no one to stop us this time”

I believe that early in the movie Krennic will fire the Death Star on Jedha knowing that Vader is on the Planet. In-universe, this is explained by his rivalry with the formal hierarchy of the Empire. Out of Universe, it’s a clever plot device to get Vader (a great screen-thief) out of most of the film, since most of the time he will be just floating in a Bacta tank recovering, only to reappear at the end to get revenge on Krennic (who “stopped him” from recovering the plans) and chase the Tantive.

"What I’m not so sure of: The pacing seemed all wrong in the opening 12-ish minutes. Mostly when they get to adult Jyn things start jumping around at such a quick pace that it felt rushed. A sci-fi war picture that moves is a good thing, but once they start establishing the broader team characters it was such a rush of new locations, new people and things just happening without much context that it felt like I was missing a couples pieces of the puzzle.

To be fair, I’m assuming that this special footage presentation was showing that first 12 minutes as it will play in the film and it’s possible it was slightly condensed for this presentation, but they made a pretty distinguishable transition between each block of footage, which wasn’t present here."

http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2016/12/05/a-level-headed-reaction-to-the-rogue-one-footage-which-screened-over-the-we

"And now: the undecided news.

Everything prior to the title hitting the screen played like gangbusters. What followed was a five-minute (or so) stretch that bounced between multiple locations and characters, sometimes to a whiplash-inducing degree. In the moment, I assumed that the parade of locations (each accompanied by an on-screen title telling you where you were now) was a function of the film being sampled from for the purposes of the presentation we were watching, but afterwards I was told that, no, this is how the film plays out. That was troubling, as what was there felt, quite frankly, overly futzed-with.

Secondly: I had issues with a number of line readings and performances, particularly from secondary characters who showed up to deliver exposition and/or move scenes along. A lot of it felt like “first take” stuff, overacted or awkwardly-delivered in a way that caused me to raise an eyebrow on more than one occasion. I’ve agreed not to get into specifics on the footage which screened, so I’ll refrain from providing specific examples here, but … my guess is that you’ll know these moments when you see them."

People really ought to keep their powder dry until the movie is out. It’s only ten more days.

My problem with all Jedi turning into ghost is that Vader seems ignorant about the whole thing.

Yeah that is what sprang to mind Dali…

Jofavs can you reveal the name of the planet the Erso fled to. Is Lah’Mu stated in Catalyst?

Can’t recall offhand, I’ll look it up when I get a chance.

Just looked it up. The Erso family is in fact on Lah’mu at the end of Catalyst. Saw Gerrera brings them there, and Jyn is maybe two or three years younger at the time than she is in the Rogue One flashback footage we’ve seen.

New clip that looks to be from some kind of Disney World event that’s happening now/already happened this weekend (the SW instagram account just posted a photo of the Spaceship Earth dome ball thing at the Epcot center all done up to look like the Death Star, but I have no idea when it actually happened). Anyway, a bit of dialogue between Galen and Krennic during the opening flashback. I’m a bit surprised to find that Mendelsohn uses his regular Australian accent in the film. That one other line we’d heard from him (“the power we’re dealing with here is immeasurable”) sounded more English to me, but now that I actually hear him saying multiple sentences it’s clear he’s just using his actual natural accent.

Thanks Joefavs! So both names are the real deal.

Cue the Dubstep on that last clip.

Couple of more trailers today and some more new footage. Still very excited for this film but I am lowering expectations for the begining. Expecting a shakey start but hopefully a very good ending.

Looks like an attack on the Deathstar also that must go awry.

Also don’t forget, they fixed that weird problem with Vader’s helmet!

^ Yeah good

New Clip about Rogue One callsign.

This is a bit silly but it’s fun and I don’t mind that at all. Very different from the trailers though. Is that the injection of the lighter mood?

Also the Death troopers are no Longer Death troopers… They are now “Advanced Weapons Research Troopers” according to Disney.

Sorry but they are still Death troopers because I was told they were and that is what I will call them forever more… 😃

These actual clips from the film are making me uneasy about the score. I know it can’t be the case with the amount of money Disney has to throw around, but the orchestra feels kind of synthetic, like it was a video game or a TV show from ten years ago. I dunno, it sounds kind of cheap and chintzy to me.

It might be temp score? Until the orchestra get recorded?

But either way I think you are on to something there. The scene really needs time to breath. I would say cut the music here, it’s intrusive and start at another cue.

10 Days Clip - Better shot of the one we saw earlier in the last TV spot. But this clip is much better video quality.

We don’t know if it’s the ghost, do we? It could just be using the same ship design, the VCX.

It would be neat if we heard Hera on the radio during the battle. I don’t really want to see any of the Rebels characters played by actors, though.

Neither do I. I can’t really picture them trying that without a level of uncanny valley developing as a result. It’d also be a bit too much of a wink. That being the Ghost would be a nice addition, at least. A little Easter egg for the Rebels fans.

Are we sure it’s not Ripley? The Nostromo escape pod could have fallen through a black hole, and she helped out the Rebellion before her memory was wiped, and she was returned 57 years after she left. 😉

Good, the weird helmet shot has been corrected. I know a few disney-whores have already found explanations about that ('cause we all know Disney can’t do anything wrong, hum…) but it seems they didn’t buy it themselves and finally made the proper alteration (well, there is still the curious hand-boner gesture but in context it might not look that ridiculous).

I still believe in Gareth (however quite afraid of the lame “marvel” humor of the tv spots so far…).

Quiet today?

What is this reffering to? I’ve not watched all the trailers and TV spots. Just the ones that happen to be on while I’m watchin’ TV.

To be fair, you could make an ad for Star Wars only using footage from 1977 and make it seem like a silly kids adventure, a lighthearted Marvel superhero movie, a dramatic space drama or even a sci-fi comedy. When these comedic bits are stretched out over a 2 hr. run time instead of jammed together in a 60 second ad they’ll (hopefully!) seem more natural.
