I’m halfway through Deadpool and so far I really prefer it when he’s not suited up. He’s too much of an asshole when he’s in costume, a too-cool-for-school asshole who thinks he’s much funnier than he really-

Oh shit, I’m Deadpool.

Deadpool is honestly the first comic book movie I’ve enjoyed since The Punisher with Thomas Jane.

Oh, and I wanna see Frink’s superhero outfit now.

Deadpool sucked.
This is a fact.

I kind of agree. I still have the last 30 minutes to watch, but in today’s 30 minutes alone, I had to watch

  1. A fart joke
  2. A hashtag joke about the fart
  3. A stripclub scene
  4. A self-wedgie joke

I probably would have loved this movie as a teenager, but I grew up…unlike the people that made this movie.

I enjoyed it. I don’t think I’d watch it twice, but it fit the character and that’s what matters to me.

Being completely unfamiliar with the character, I’m baffled that anyone would want to follow the exploits of this brobag.

He’s pretty much what you saw in the movie. He’s gotten progressivly more ridiculous as time has gone on to the point where he’s kinda a meme-y joke character in my mind.

I think the most intriguing thing about Deadpool as a character is that he realizes that he’s a character in a comic book (hence all the fourth-wall breaking) and so reacts and acts accordingly. But he’s also literally insane.

Deadpool was fun in an unabashedly adolescent way, and it was worth it just to see how many clueless people took their young kids to an R rated movie, because all superhero flicks must be PG right? 😉

Where were you in '77?

Still, Juice Newton got a royalty check or two out of the soundtrack. 😉

I’m kind of surprised they didn’t use a certain Rick Astley song.

I finally watched Suicide Squad, and it was a lot better than I thought it would be. I absolutely hated both Man of Steel and Dawn of Justice, but I didn’t despise this movie. It wasn’t good, but I enjoyed myself while watching it. The characters were sort of fun, and I liked the style of the movie. It was fine.

+1. Except that this is how I’d rank the DCEU films so far:

  1. Man of Steel
  2. BvS Ultimate Edition
  3. Suicide Squad
  4. BvS Theatrical Cut

Return of the Jedi: Remastered

Lord of the Rings: The Darth Rush Definitives

On to good superhero movies:

Doctor Strange (2016)

Overall, a fun magical adventure, with fascinating world-bending CGI. The occasional joke or two made me groan, but I didn’t mind most of the attempts at humor.

Also, very minor nitpick, Cumberbatch’s faux-American accent was pretty bad at times.

I don’t know why they didn’t just set it in London. Aren’t there enough NY based superheroes as is?

Agree with you 120% on #1.

As for #2, I’ll take your word for it.

SHIN GODZILLA (2016)

Wow. I haven’t seen a Godzilla film that good since probably 1995. Loved, loved, loved the use of iconic tracks from previous films. Hideaki Anno definitely succeeded in making Godzilla scary again. Fantastic film!

Sadly, I did not get the chance to see this in a theater here in the U.S. and am disappointed that it got such a limited theatrical release here. I will have to wait for Bluray to see it but I AM looking forward to it.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016)

Fantastic film, love me some 1930s New York! It was also great to see “Hutch” land such a big role. I hope he can bank on this film to further his career.

DOCTOR STRANGE

Liked it. Great psychedelics. Best and most immersive 3D I’ve seen (I saw it on a standard screen, not IMAX.)

Could have used a little more development in some other respects.

I thought it was worthwhile.
