just wanted to introduce myself, thank those who took this project on, and express my joy that the forums/community still appear to be active.

i’m new to this, but when i learned there was a project that restored the story to its unedi… um… ‘despecialized’ form, i felt an excitement that’s hard to put into words. that so many people put so much time, effort, and sensitivity to splicing and layering all those different sources together into a seamless piece, i know you all know the feeling of hope i have right now.

it appears i may have missed the chance to actually see it since it’s not available (for now), but just the chance, the hope, is honestly grand.

Which project are you talking about specifically? There are a lot of projects discussed here with similar goals in mind, and several of them are completed and available. It’s just that links are not allowed on the open forum for legal reasons.

The best way to gain access to most of these projects is to send a private message to the original poster of the thread (click on the username and on the user’s page, click “Start A Private Topic”), unless there are alternative instructions in the original post. If you have issues with this or aren’t getting a response to your private message within a few days, feel free to post in the project’s thread to ask for guidance or if another member might have a lead on finding what you’re looking for. Howdy fellas. I like Star Wars, as in the movies. Not the cultural phenomenon. I watch these films like any other. And that’s why I think it’s important to preserve the original releases and such. They’ve done the same with The Exorcist and other films. But the difference here is that they’re trying to be erased from history. So I’m happy that we’re not letting that happen.

On this website I go by sampsoninc916. Since I have a hobby of experimenting with video, I have done a personal fan restoration of two shows. Winnie The Pooh and Christmas Too from 1991 and the original Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer stop motion special from 1964. I have tremendous editing skills, knowing where pieces of the story need to go. This has allowed me to make these restorations to begin with, though I have not gone all the way.

One reason why I am on here is to see if we can do a better job restoring Disney’s movies than Disney ever could. After hearing that Dumbo will not have the crows in the Disney+ version of the classic film, and the super obvious situation of Song of the South, I’m glad that this community is working to restore those films and make them more accessible for today’s audiences and on today’s screens. Having those films accessible will give us a better understanding why we were the way we were years ago and how we can avoid making those mistakes again. It would also be cool if we could restore Mickey’s Christmas Carol and not have too much DNR like on the Blu-ray. I remember Disney as it once was, and I don’t want them to hide their own history, nor do I want them to get rid of animation altogether.

Hi. New here. Enjoying learning about the process that brought Star Wars back.

I’ve been searching to find a list of the audio tracks on the Despecialized version that I’ve downloaded. All I can see are the numbers. I can tell which ones are commentary, music only, and audio description. I can’t figure out the different English versions.

I found this old list:

Star Wars

(1) 1977 35mm two-track Dolby Stereo (as available up to 1985 CAV LaserDisc - captured)
(2) 1977 70mm Six-Track Dolby Stereo (never available but re-created by the EditDroid team)
(3) 1977 35mm mono. (available from UK ITV VHS tape or 1977 bootleg tape)
(4) 1985 two-track Dolby Stereo (as available on 1992 Pan/Scan LaserDisc)
(5) 1993 two-track Dolby Stereo (as available on Definitive Collection onwards)
(6) 1997 Special Edition (as available on SE LaserDisc)
(7) 2004 Special Special Edition (as available on 2004 DVD)

But it only shows 7 audio tracks. The version I have is showing many more than that with 5 English tracks at the beginning 1-5 and several English tracks at the end (in between are the foreign language tracks).

Is there an updated list of the tracks so I can tell which one to set for viewing?

It seems you have obtained the MKV of Star Wars DEED v2.7, for which a list of the audio tracks can be found in HanDuet’s “The Ultimate Introductory Guide”. Hello. I’m a fan of sci-fi in general, from old-school stuff like Forbidden Planet to more modern fiction such as Neuromancer. My interest in Star Wars got sparked with the original Lego Star Wars, and a book that had info and pictures of pretty much everything in “The Phantom Menace”, which I loved reading even though I never saw the movie before :p

Hi guys new to this forums but not to Star Wars fan edits. I watched several and made several of my own. My favorite OT edits are Adywan’s Revisited and favorite PT edits are Hal 9000’s edits. I am currently working on a Ep 4 edit and could use help color correction one scene if anyone would be willing to help. Also if anyone play X-wing miniatures an has the U-wing expansion (the blue one) I could your help. I need a picture of the model from a specific angle. I have found a real model looks much better than a 3D one In this movie since all the models were real to begin with. looking forward to talking shop with y’all.

I like my OT without special edition changes, still have my GOUT discs. I watched some fanedits, but i generally prefer the theatric releases.

My introduction to the movies came about thanks to HBO running the “Hardware Wars” short endlessly. My parents didn’t make much of a fuss over SW when it came out, so when SW finally ended up on cable, I viewed it as a much more elaborate Hardware Wars rip-off. I still liked it though!

Hello, I’m new to the site here and would like to introduce myself.

I found the site a couple years ago through casual research about the changes George Lucas was making to the OT. Throughout this time, I have become a Star Wars and Lego Star Wars collector. I’ve been working on a collection of all official home video releases, including somewhat rare Bonus and pack-in DVD’s. I’m also a Catholic priest so, as a single man, this has become a fun and interesting hobby of mine.

On the Lego side of things, I’ve recently completed a collection of all 20th anniversary-related items, including the rare Obi-wan minifig, the poster, the Battle of Hoth set, the Darth Vader bust, the Darth Vader watch and the clock, along with the commonly available 20th Anniv. sets.

I know you hear this a lot, but I really don’t want to be a newbie, one-time posting mooch. I may not have the video or artistic skills to contribute to the preservation projects, but if I can help with collecting or other trivia, I’d be glad to.

I come to you disheartened. Disney Wars has not been kind to me, as it has not been kind to many, and so I’ve sought out the experience I had with the original Star Wars as a kid. George certainly mucked things up with the special editions long before the Maus cast his shadow on the franchise, so here I am.

Hi there, I’m Rob. I’ve been a huge Star Wars fan since I saw the first movie back in 77. I love the OT, but have no axe to grind about the Prequels or the sequels.
I’m new to the whole fan edit thing, and I’ll admit that I’m much more a consumer of this art, than a maker. My Intro to Fan edits was the brilliant Adywan Revisited works ANH and ESB (just pateintly waiting on the RotJ Revisited). Having seen what one fan can accomplish with time and dedication, I’m now eager to see what can be done with the Prequels.

Hey everyone. Been here for awhile but don’t think I’ve made a proper intro post. I’m all about film and cultural preservation, and as such, the original Star Wars trilogy and its preservation is right in my wheelhouse of interests. Thank you to everyone who has taken part in the project for protecting and providing access to the best quality original version of a massive 20th century cultural cornerstone.

I’ve been a huge Star Wars fan ever since I saw the original movie on the big screen as a kid. It’s great to see all the fascinating projects here and keep up the great work.
