wait, the first ld from live home video was also remixed? i thought that one was untouched.

what about the old blu-ray/hd-dvd (canal +) of the theatrical cut. though 5.1, but are they also remixed?

does the muse hi-vision contain the original mix?

and yes, no argument on the terminator. the mono mix beats the new 5.1 mix clean and hard.

Help Wanted: 'An American Werewolf in London' (1981) LD Mono PCM Preservation
Time

by any chance, does someone have the remastered laserdisc of the movie and can capture the mono audio? on the dvd and blu-ray there is only the 5.1 remix. restoring the original mix to the blu-ray video would make me a happy panda.

there are two laserdisc that give us a clean audio. one from image entertainment (ID5239VE) and the other from live home video (LD 15101-WS). getting the audio from both might be the best option, so we can compare them and see or hear which is better (cleaner).

are there any news regarding taxi driver?

while the blu-ray looks fantastic, it misses out on the original mono mix. heck, even the dvds never got it. so getting the mix from the good old criterion ld as a untouched .wav file would be awesome.

I had a friend who purchased the Taxi Driver CAV LD and brought it to me to make a DVD out of it several years ago. I ripped the movie soundtrack, isolated music track and Scorsese commentary and then I split all the still frame bonus materials into separate images and recreated the galleries in DVD form. I don't have the original uncompressed files on the audio, just the AC3 audio muxed to the DVD. I would like to get the DVD into circulation.

maybe your friend still has the ld and you re-capture the uncompressed audio for us :)
it's worth a shot.

I would like to have the PCM audio from the Robocop Criterion LD if anyone is working on that.

Thanks!

+1

i would love to get, as i'm preparing an edit of the mgm and sony blu-ray. the sony br is on the theatrical cut, but it's by far the best version available. well, not really available. it was never released. but a few copies made it in the open ;)

Any suggestions as to how to sync this? I was planning on taking the BD's 2.0 audio and using that as a guide for the LD capture. I've tried doing this with The Killer and A Better Tomorrow but I find that the audio goes progressively out of sync. I sent that off to Commodore Scmindlapp and he got it synced but I don't know how you can do that without chopping up the audio into little segments and hearing the edits as you view the movie. The Killer's LD track doesn't do this so I'm a bit lost here.

you need to fill the gab either with audio from before or after the edit or leave it silent.

i suggest that you edit the audio first to sync it and then fill the gabs.

if you have problems using only waveform as a guide, i recommend using video as well. so if you can capture the laserdisc video put it on top of the blu-ray video and sync it based on frames. when you need to edit it, it would follow the same "fill the gab" rule.

you can also share the untouched audio files and someone with more experience will take a look at them.

Help: looking for... a few LaserDisc Audio Tracks
Time

i’m looking for the following audio tracks in uncompressed pcm from the ntsc laserdisc of these movies

The Shinning (1980) - 144min Original Mono (found) - thanks to bendermac

The Abyss (1989) - Theatrical Cut (LTBX LD) and Director’s Cut (THX S.E.)

Robocop (1987) - Director’s Cut (Criterion Collection) (found) - thanks to bendermac

Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992) - Criterion Collection (found) - thanks to PDB

Full Metal Jacket (1987) - Original Mono (found) - thanks to Buster D

A Clockwork Orange (1971) - Original Mono (found) - thanks to bendermac

Trading Places (1983) - Original Mono

An Officer and a Gentlemen (1982) - Original Mono

Robin Hood: King of Thieves (1991) - Theatrical Cut (found) - thanks to bendermac

Amadeus (1984) - Theatrical Cut (THX LD)

Taxi Driver (1976) - Original Mono (Criterion Collection) (found) - thanks to spoRv

The Great Escape (1963) - Original Mono (Criterion Collection) (found) - thanks to PDB

Robocop (1987) - Theatrical Cut

Blade Runner (1982) - International Cut (Criterion Collection), U.S. Theatrical and Director’s Cut

Raging Bull (1980) - Original Mono (Criterion Collection)

E.T. - The Extra Terrestrial (1982) - Signature Collection

Scarface (1983) - Signature Collection

The Sword in the Stone (1963) - Original Mono Mix (Masterpiece Collection)

what do i want to do with these tracks?

i’d like to remux these audio tracks with the blu-ray or use them on the restoring of the theatrical cuts (robin hood and amadeus)

why do you want the laserdisc audio, isn’t audio on the blu-ray good enough for you?

i prefer to watch the movies in their original audio mix and many blu-rays don’t have them anymore. you only get access to 5.1 upmixes. i like to preserve the original mix if possible and laserdisc is a very good source for that.

the audio itself can be captured and then send to me. you don’t have to edit the side change. separate files for each side of the laserdisc are also fine. please don’t process them to 48khz. i’d do that myself after all syncing is done.

if you have any of these movies and can share the pcm audio, please send me a pm. once i receive the audio, it will noted here and you’ll receive full credit, unless of course you don’t wish so.

thanks in advance
