I'm guessing not. I think he just made a DVD of the WMV.

Would MySpleen be out of the question? Otherwise, TPB (when it comes back?)
I agree with Frink, even though I think he's being facetious. The move to Reddit is a necessary sacrifice, though. quality<freedom
That said, Reddit sucks! :)
That would be my guess. The negative stock that they were using was prone to failure (an error nobody in the industry noticed until it was too late).
That's crazy expensive for 16mm. It is much lower in res than BD. I'd wait for a 35mm at that price.

Won't anyone think of the Sorbians?
The Sorbetians?
"The white zone is for loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no parking in the white zone..."
Ditto - glad it's not just me! :)
Yeah, but just say "The person doesn't want their stuff photo'd." Don't make up security reasons for it, as they really don't exist.
That said, don't hear me as just a hater - I don't think I'd want my stuff/setup photographed either, what with embedded EXIF data and all that, but I wouldn't say it was for security, just say, "Nope." None of us on this site have any right to this stuff - it's a privilege. If we want to play we have to play by the project's rules. That goes for pretty much every project on here, and you can tell that because each of them has a different set of rules...
Yup. That's what I meant when I said "false" assumption. Heck, many of the people on this site could have the long arm of the law down on them, just with the pics and info that's posted. Personally, I don't think pics of a setup would do that, but that's just MHO.
Maybe the false assumption that the interior of the scanning room would comprise the integrity of the project?
Uncensored, I assume?
No, man, it's like cool!
Nope - on Eastman SP stock circa 1975 (from my best guess). There's images of the date codes over at AMPS if somebody wants to double check me... I was never very good at accurate film dating.
So, double post over from AMPS:
"Oh my god. I just put the Fantasia reel I have on the inspection table and immediately took it off. I'm going to have to do this on the floor (as much as it pains me to do it) - there's at least 80 different sections of film, probably more, all cut up. I'm guessing the print was either bandsawed or chopped to make bookmarks or something. Anyway, I have a new Sunday project... I guess that's what I'll be doing today...
Stupid question - how many reels does the Pastoral normally take up? I'm wondering if we even have the full sequence (because it's missing a number of important scenes - the unicorns sliding down the waterfall, for example). Also, for what it's worth, the print is on Kodak Eastman SP."
This is about the reel that Silverwook and I purchased from the ebay seller who was splitting up the reels...

thanks for this man. I needed only a fraction of a second to decide I LOVE that site.
Haha - glad we could help!

No, I've never met the person, nor had any kind of connection short of email. As far as the Tech reel, it was sold out from under me and I have talked with the guy, and the story on his end definitely checks out. But yeah, the '82 one is definitely fishy, to say the least.
You should have seen the deal about the censored scenes? We may get a print with those scenes in it...
Sorry, I've been mainly posting updates on AMPS, and not here... Let me do a quick recap.
There were two prints on ebay - one Tech and the other the '82 version. I was supposed to have deposits on both, but the Tech one wound up selling out from under me. I still had a deposit on the '82 copy, and was all set to finish the purchase when he told me that two of the reels were stolen at a garage sale. I asked if I could buy the remaining reels at a pretty decent price and he replied that in his opinion the print was unsaleable. Anyway, that's what happened so far. We may have a lead on another print, but you'll have to read about that at AMPS (for security's sake)... :)
That's why I'm psyched I'm getting the 1982 version. I'm going to have the mag track ripped over here, and then hopefully get the film scanned... :)
Anyone feel lucky? Do we want to gamble on it?
I had deposits down on both prints, but before the scope print was pulled the print sold. He felt obligated to honor the ebay sale, so we missed out. However, I learned it was The '63 release and in scope, so it would not have had Sunflower and it would have been missing a lot of picture information.
I did get a chance to buy that 1982 Fantasia - a good thing since I really wanted a decent preservation of the '82 release and was going to be forced to have the reconstruction that I was working on as my only option. I'm looking forward to that one, because it has the original mag soundtrack, so I'll be able to get the authentic mix. Also, it was quite a bit less, and I didn't have too many people step forward with donations so it was going to be all out of pocket! :)
Anyway, I think we did OK. In a way I'm glad we didn't get the scope one, and I've talked to the guy and may have a lead on some 70mm stuff, so we'll see...
Even if it is the cropped version the fact that it is IB is a significant fact. The colors have never been quite right on the home release versions (compared to physical cels I have in my collection) so IB should be closer to that. Personally, both prints have value - the IB and the 1982 version. I'm going to see what I can do about acquiring them for my collection, but I would love to have help with funds for initial purchase as well as scanning and shipping costs.
Ooh! What's the price on that one? Do you have a URL?
