Perhaps I’m biased since I grew up on comics from the late 90s and 00s. Granted, those were mostly Superman books, so you may ne right about him being the only good thing from that era.

It’s not that I think anything non-Superman-related stuff from that period is bad; it’s that I think Crisis was absolutely unnecessary.

Instead of destroying the DC Multiverse/crushing it down into a single DC Universe – killing/erasing/re-writing the histories of characters needlessly – the writers could’ve started focusing on a new streamlined Earth in the multiverse. That way they could’ve easily told all the same stories that came out post-Crisis while avoiding most of the negative fan backlash and continuity issues that followed.

I suppose you’re right. Hell, they still didn’t even end the multiverse really, since Elseworlds stories like TDKR were still being told after it.

I used to have moderate admiration for Crisis on Infinite Earths. Then I came to realize the very premise was stupid garbage and that the example it set has all but led to the ruination of mainstream superhero comics.

The only good thing to come out of Crisis was the post-Crisis Superman.

¯_(ツ)_/¯ I liked it. Perhaps I’m biased since I grew up on comics from the late 90s and 00s. Granted, those were mostly Superman books, so you may ne right about him being the only good thing from that era.

Anyway, finished the last part of the story today and actually think the latter half of the series is better than the earlier issues.

Side note: only two comics that I got when I was little have stayed with me, the rest were either torn up by younger me or just lost. If only I’d have cared for them then. Makes me sad thinking about.

I really hate music elitism.

“Oh, that’s not real music. Because I don’t like it, ya see? You’re not allowed to like things I don’t.”

I hate country music, but I don’t go around claiming that it’s not real music or that people who do like it are inferior, I just don’t like it.

I also hate the idea of “EDM artists just push buttons.” Sure, when you put it that way, all Beethoven did was push buttons, all Jimi Hendrix did was pluck at some strings. Anything can sound small and boring when you boil it down to it’s simplest form.

This, +1, QFT, etc.

I used to be a bit of a music elitist a few years ago, but then I realized that was childish and silly. Now I don’t even care for what I considered “real music” back then.

The Transformers: The Movie (1986)

Even though I’m by no means a huge fan of the Transformers, I’ve always had a soft spot for this movie. I’m not sure what it is that makes me love this movie so much. I’m not sure I could even give it a fair grade. It’s cheesy and stupid in all the best ways, it’s full of fun moments of absolute absurdity and it just runs with them. The movie outright admits how stupid it all is with Dare to be Stupid by Weird Al in the soundtrack. I love every ridiculous second of it.

I agree Anakin is better on TCW than in the PT but that is a very low bar. He is passable but honestly I find it hard to care for any of the characters in TCW. It’s a half-hour non-serialized kids show

This is all I ever found it to be as well. The praise it gets is something I’ll never understand.

I think mainly people feel the need to overpraise it to convince others that it’s not just a mindless kid’s show and/or more PT garbage but I think it can be pretty fun to watch.

I pretty much agree. AFAIK, I’m one of the youngest people on this site, and I watched the show religiously when it was new. I saw every episode on it’s first broadcast.

I only have clear memories of these two, episodes. I have vague memories of later episodes, but it was all just mindless action and spectacle to me (which was very appealing to 10 yr old me).

The Dream of the Giant Fractal Woodlouse.
Time

I had a weird dream last night where

  1. my house blew up so my dad showed up and dug a hole in the ground. All the pieces of the house (except for the roof) fell into place, but more spread out, so I basically had a bigger house now, just underground.

  2. Bernie Sanders cracked after having to support Hillary for so long, and was still secretly extremely upset that he wasn’t nominated. At some Democratic party press conference, he started yelling about how horrible she was, ending with his final remark “I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT F*CKING B*TCH LIVES!”

Apparently my order for Transformers the Movie got stuck in processing, and Walmart customer service says it’ll never arrive and should just be cancelled. Wonderful.

Shit bro. Iv never seen Transformers the Movie, but your situation sounds pretty fucking annoying. Best of luck

It is pretty annoying. They told me to try to reorder it but it was out of stock, so I just got it from Amazon and hopefully they won’t screw up.

As for the movie itself, I think you’d like it. It’s a big, dumb action movie but unlike the Bay movies which are big, dumb, and painful, it’s big, dumb, and actually fun to watch. I only have vague memories of watching reruns of the original show when I was younger, but seeing the movie on tv remains a very clear memory.

Today I have a substitute teacher in one of my classes who saw my Trek attire and told me that he was in a documentary called Trekkies.

Your sub was in Trekkies? Featured or just in the background, I wonder.

He said he was featured, and he went on to talk about how cool it was to meet and talk to Denise Crosby. I haven’t watched Trekkies so I wouldn’t know. I’ll have to watch it and tell you if I see him. He said he was wearing a DS9 era uniform with red, if that helps at all.
